I remember hearing a young woman practicing Clair de Lune in Dawson City , the 1897 gold rush town....before it became so touristy. I have loved it since. I would have appreciated having a listen to arabesque 1 when I learned it. That is a hard piece to play. Each hand in a different time pattern. So, bravo! Lovely. Listen carefully, these are not easy to play.

It's a beautiful song. I had to get it after I heard just a tiny bit on Twilight. Worth the buy!!!!

I'm not saying there's better recordings of the famous movement of Debussy's Suite Bergamasque, but this recording is most definitely worth the time and money to listen to.

If you are a pianist who isn't sure how Arabesque No. 2 should sound, this is a beautiful interpretation of it. It's a tad to fast for my taste, but other than that, it's wonderful. This particular Arabesque is on two albums, and after listening closely to both, this particular one gives the "piano et tres leger" (that is, "soft and very light") feeling that is directed at the beginning of the song. ~Pianist

As a lover of music all types I was playing a video game and my wife and I heard this song playing during a scene in the game where you are brutally beating on other enemies with martial arts odd song to play during it but it kinda fits,the song also plays as you drive around Hong Kong in your car I bought this song after I heard it it is just beautiful.im also noticing this song was attached to those god awful Twilight movies *sigh* but hey it's all good

It took me a while to figure out exactly why I liked this album so much, but I think it boils down to the delicacy of Thiollier's playing and the superb fidelity of the recording. The sound is warm, rich, and intimate, as if someone were playing in the next room. This is music that's meant to be savored, slowly and frequently. Enjoy.

C'est très relaxant, et pleins d'émotions, un millier de choses vous viennent en tête quand vous vous allongez et que vous écoutez Clair de Lune par exemple. Thiollier plays perfectly in Debussy's style and with flawless grace; his delicate and flowing musicianship shines throughout the album. Thiollier's deep understanding of the music is clear to the listener as each piece develops emotionally and visually. Here, Thiollier's mastery allows listeners to enjoy the true, essential meaning of each of Debussy's works.

This is unquestionably an excellent compilation of many of Debussy's best works for solo piano. The sound quality is quite good. My only reservation is on the artists's playing of Claire de Lune, La Petite Negre and some others that are, for my taste, played too slowly and with excessive interpretive license. A masterpiece such as Claire de Lune deserves a masterful performance, which is not to be found here. Certainly, many people will find it, and other pieces, played "just so" for them, but as for me, I have found what I wanted elsewhere.

Oh my goodness. I love Rêverie I feel breathless when I listen to it all of these emotions come onto me and I match different words describing certain parts. I play the piano and I've wanted to always play this. Today I actually found the piece in a classical book I had so I'm going to try to play it! Wish me luck

When your having a bad day or just want to relax this album is the perfect album is so relaxing and soothing it takes yo out of your state and just makes you inhale deeply and relax. I love it.

I love classical music and was looking for an album that would be great to listen at night before falling asleep. I bought the album based on the current reviews, hoping to be swept away. But sadly I was disappointed. The album is good, but not great. It's not a smoothing or relaxing as I had hoped for.

Very few of us, in one life-time or ten, will achieve the level of beauty, artistry and eloquence demonstrated by Thiollier's interpretation of the exquisite work of Debussy. Do not despair that you cannot, but revel in the joy of those who can.

This C.D is excellent for someone who's looking for some relaxing music to calm them down and engage them at the same time. Honestly, it's one of the best purchases I've made from the i-tunes store so far. I'd reccommend it to anyone, whether they've listened to classical music for years or are just looking for something a little different.

Thiollier gives a beautiful interpretation of Debussy. I have played and heard alot of Debussy. I highly recommend the Arabesque and the Images and the Preludes. Marvelous recordings, some of the best I've heard.
