The Americana Symphony by Mark O'Connor is one of those rare and very special works that is destined to become not only a national musical treasure, but an international success as well. This wonderful symphony captures the essence, emotion, and life of our great country. Mr. O'Connor has gifted us with a tremendous work of grace and beauty. Inspiring!
I’ve lamented for years that there has not been an American composer since Aaron Copland to capture a fresh, truly American sound.........I can’t describe it, but I know it when I here it! Having sustained myself on John Williams soundtracks, another 20th century American gem,I had given up. Then I was floored the the day I heard O’Connor’s violin concerto on the radio! I’m sure his bluegrass “fiddle” roots give his unique sound, but it truly is an amazing melding of classical and country/ bluegrass. You will not be disappointed by this one!
a beautiful tribute to the scenery of America through timeless musical composition. I had the honor of playing this symphony with Mark O'Connor and it is simply breathtaking to hear in person. a must-hear for classical fans. (:
This is my first I-tunes download and what a great start! Mark O'Conner's Americana Symphony is a beautiful work...played with great precision and passion by the Baltimore Symphony. Just listen to the opening fanfare...I know you will be hooked! The music is reminiscent of Copland but with an authentic Folk music feel. Great orchestrations...the O'Conner fiddle concertos are fun too...This is great music to listen to on your computer as you work!
O'connor ventures back into the sound world that launched his career. There's something for everyone and if you can't enjoy it then too bad for you.
