Michael Jackson - Dangerous

About Dangerous by Michael Jackson Album

Dangerous is the eighth studio album by American singer Michael Jackson. It was released by Epic Records on November 26, 1991, more than four years after Jackson's previous album, Bad (1987). Co-produced by Jackson, Bill Bottrell, Teddy Riley, and Bruce Swedien, the album was Jackson's first since Off the Wall (1979) without longtime collaborator Quincy Jones. Guest appearances include Heavy D, Princess Stรฉphanie of Monaco, Slash and Wreckx-n-Effect. The album incorporates new jack swing, a popular genre at the time, R&B and pop. Elements of industrial, funk, hip hop, electronic, gospel, classical and rock are also present. Jackson wrote or co-wrote 12 of the album's 14 songs, discussing topics like racism, poverty, romance, self-improvement, multiculturalism and the welfare of children and the world. Dangerous is considered an artistic change for Jackson, with his music focusing on more socially conscious material, and including a broader range of sounds and styles. It features catchy pop hooks and choruses while also introducing underground sounds to a mainstream audience. The album's tone is noted by critics as gritty and urban, with sounds including synthetic basslines, scratching, and drum machine percussion, as well as unconventional sounds like honking vehicle horns, sliding chains, swinging gates, breaking glass, and clanking metal. Jackson also incorporates beatboxing, scat singing, and finger snapping throughout the album. Dangerous debuted at number one on the US Billboard Top Pop Albums chart and in 13 other countries, selling 5 million copies worldwide in its first week, and went on to become the best-selling album worldwide of 1992. Nine singles premiered between November 1991 and December 1993, including one exclusively released outside North America ("Give In to Me"). The album produced four singles that reached the top ten of the US Billboard Hot 100: "Remember the Time", "In the Closet", "Will You Be There" and the number-one single "Black or White". The title track was frequently performed in the rest of Jackson's touring career. The Dangerous World Tour grossed $100 million (equivalent to $211 million in 2023). Initially polarizing critics, Dangerous has since been greatly appraised as a standout album of Jackson's career. By 1994, Dangerous was one of the best-selling albums of all time having sold 25 million copies worldwide; today its sales stand at 32 million. It was certified 8ร— platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in 2018. The album been included in several publications' lists of the greatest albums of all time, and its artistry and thematic content in particular have been praised as Jackson's finest. At the 1993 Grammy Awards, it received four Grammy Award nominations, winning Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical. Jackson won two American Music Awards at the 1993 American Music Awards for the album, including Favorite Pop/Rock Album. Jackson also received special Billboard Music Awards for Best Worldwide Album and Best Worldwide Single for "Black or White" in recognition of the album's and single's respective global record sales.

- Great album

Mjs greasiest hits

- Greatest Album of All Time

This is perhaps the most underrated album of Michael Jacksonโ€™s discography, maybe even the most underrated album of all time. It balanced songs about love to environmentalism to the human condition. It does this with hard and gritty sounds as well as soft, gentle and lifting instrumentals. Itโ€™s the perfect balance. This album surpasses Off the Wall, Thriller and Bad album all together. Seems like MJ came out of his shell after halting work with Quincy Jones and proved he was the one creating masterpieces. This is undoubtedly the Greatest album of all Time from the best musician and entertainer from all time. The cover art is enough to show how majestic Michael Jackson truly is.

- Very under rated

Donโ€™t know why this album doesnโ€™t get more credit got some great songs on it!! He was definitely a legend! RIP KING OF POP!

- AMAZING

THE BEST SONG IS 'REMEMBER THE TIME'!!!!!!!!

- Raised on This

My favorite MJ ALBUM my parents used to play it on cassette in the car and the songs were the first to stick to my memory. Legend

- BUY THIS ALBUM NOW

I think this is one of his best albums. MJ ABSOLUTELY NAILED Remember the Time (the music video s great too) My personal favorite is Who is it.

- Dangerous

Good album

- One of the best MJ albums Iโ€™ve heard

Having grown up with, first, The Jackson Five, then Michael Jackson and his brother Jermaine when the โ€œ5โ€ split, and then his sister, Janet, and then finally just Michael, this album shows that he progressed through the eras just as those of us his age. His music grew from his original albums, Thriller and Bad, to his latest works which I feel privileged to hear. I canโ€™t believe they were hidden away and not published when they were written. Probably because Michael was a perfectionist and didnโ€™t feel that they were good enough. While he is gone too soon, these hidden gems are perfect for me.

- Such a classing

My all time favorite. MJ is the King๐Ÿ‘‘

- MJ IS THE KING!

๐Ÿ˜€

- Forever The King

His best album in my opinion๐Ÿ‘‘

- Michaelโ€™s Best Album

Each track is unique and memorable. Buy the whole if you can. Otherwise, consider Will You Be There, Gone Too Soon, Keep the Faith, Why You Wanna Trip On Me, Jam, Heal the World, Remember the Time and Black or White. R.I.P., King of Pop.

- Amazing

I love the song will be their

- Jammmm

This album that he made was awesome and this doing called why you want to trip on me is awesome

- Classic

What's more to say?

- SPEECHLESS

IT'S GREAT. MY FAVORITE ALBUM.

- Good and Bad

Loved The Song Dangerous the song not the album thriller and bad where way better albums over all but dangerous the song tops every crappy song out there today. Okay!

- The best album I've ever owned

My uncle bought me a cassette of this album when it came out in 1991. Rediscovering today on iTunes reminds me of how much a genius Michael was.

- AMAZING!!!!

One of the best albums ever made. If you are a new MJ fan, buy this as well as the Thriller and Bad album. You will not regret it. Pure art and perfection.

- Kinda good

Basically a whole bunch of "tee hee!".

- Greatness !!!

The videos and songs for this album are amazing ... Even more then 20 years since it was released ... Better then 99% of any music today.... Love it!!! Never gets old

- Crap

This album is so boring. Well sung but boring AND dated. They pretty much use the same crappy drum track on almost track. Couldnโ€™t Michael find a better song writer?? I shelled out $25 for this album in 1992 on CD and I so regreted it after less than one week. What bland run of the mill music. Forget about this one folks.

- Gone but not Forgotten.

I remember when I met MJ personally, great guy. Miss him a lot. Even after 8 years of his death, his music especially his latest album in 2014 "Xscape" was bought by over 19 million people. That's a lot

- Michael Jackson: A Dangerously Great Album.

With the evolution changing in music, Michael set out to rebirth his sound. With the help of New Jack Swing producer Teddy Riley, who had launched his career with Guy and worked with Boy George, this album to me was his second best. Through the midst of controversy, and triumph, he still managed to have this album peak at number 1. Heavy beats and drums mixed with pop lyrics, he crafted another masterpiece. I can remember back in 1991-92, โ€œRemember the Timeโ€ was a world premier music video. He always pushed the envelope and made music videos fun. Everyone tuned in to watch a legend keep making great music. Even his music award performances were very entertained. โ€œDangerousโ€ ends with a tale of mystery and deceit. If there's a song that needs to be an anthem in our society right now is โ€œHeal the World.โ€ I remember when he performed this at the Super Bowl; talk about a moving performance. Still a top 10 album on my list.

- Best

Only best mj albums Bad' Dangerous

- Now Thats The 90s

I remember being given this album on casette when I was eight and I had got my first radio with a tape deck the same year. I played this tape from the time I got it in the early 90s until the tape broke. I played it from years on end from the A side to the B side not skipping a single song so the tape gave up eventually from all that jamming to it. I did aquire it on disc to replace my broken tape. This album was the 90s. "Give In To Me", "Who Is It", Remember the Time" and "In the Closet" are my favs, The whole album is a gem. Miss MJ!!!

- Buy it

Seriously ... their are no words too describe this man or his music. This album is simply perfection. โœจโœจโœจ

- Dangerous

Each song has a different genre... Michael is a genius on this album. This is my favorite album of all time!

- Go mj

I personally think this is one of the best albums ever.....

- Yes!!!

I was born during the Dangerous era and was the very first CD I knew front and back word for word before I could even walk!!! This brings back so many memories! I love you Michael!

- Amazing!

I've always been and always will be an MJ fan. His songs are truly inspiring, i love him so much. He deserves more recognition, even after 7 years of his death. It's amazing how in 2016, he sold more albums than any other artist! His legacy will live on forever.

- W

Wow and yes yes s

- Classic!

Best album of the 90's and one of his best albums!

- Amazing Album

This album and basically every other album heโ€™s made is a work of a musical genius. I still donโ€™t understand why yโ€™all think itโ€™s okay to downvote his music by bringing up allegations and a film that wasnโ€™t factual with a director who didnโ€™t even bother to do any research on it. Please keep his personal life and music career separate.

- ๐ŸŽถ๐ŸŽถ

Such good bops on this album ๐ŸŽถ๐Ÿค“

- Dangerous

Dangerous is my favorite song

- K.McKay

If we really try we can keep his dream alive I know heโ€™s not here but can we get him back on top of he charts I know thatโ€™s a whole lot to ask but if we continue to boost his songs maybe

- It is awesome

My favorite songs are in this album. Will you be there, who is it, remember the time, in the closet, black or white, heal the world.

- Simply awsome

This is stupendous! This album came out in 1991 and it sounds as good today as it did then! One of if not the best MJ albums I have and I own everything he has released. Keep the faith, give in to me, why you wanna trip on me, dangerous are show stoppers! If you don't have this album buy it it will be the best 10bucks spent in this store.

- My First Michael Jackson Album

Even though I had heard songs from Thriller and Bad, this was the first Michael Jackson album I ever owned - on cassette in 1991. So thankful to purchase the digital album and it's my favorite because from song one to the last song and everything in between, the album was consistent and as if every song was a hit. The first two songs I fell in love with were Jam, Dangerous and Black or White, but Keep the Faith is close to my heart. Really, I adore every song on this album. Don't worry, I've since purchased the digital albums Thriller and Bad as well, lol.

- LOVE IT!!๐Ÿ˜

I love this album glad I bought the full thing!!

- Easy 5 Star

This is Michael's worst album. That's saying something because this is still a great album. He transitioned to more of a rock sound this album. Nonetheless this is a great album. It just isn't up to par with his others in my opinion. Jam- 7.5/10 Why You Wanna Trip On Me- 9.5/10 In The Closet- 7/10 She Drives Me Wild- 7.5/10 Remember The Time- 9/10 Can't Let Her Get Away- 8/10 Heal the World- 7/10 Black or White- 9/10 Who Is It- 9/10 Give Into Me- 8.5/10 Will You Be There- 8/10 Keep The Faith- 8.5/10 Gone Too Soon- 6.5/10 Dangerous- 10/10

- MJ IS THE GOAT

Iโ€™m 21 years of age and my family loves Michael Jackson....I can remember when my aunt and mother would hum this song called โ€œremember the timeโ€ not really understanding back then who he was until I got older and I got an iPhone and started listening to him downloading all of his music and albums. Jamming every since.

- So cool ๐Ÿ˜Ž

๐Ÿ˜‰ it is so cool Michael

- Gone Too Soon

He sang his heart out in that song <3 love this album so much!! ๐Ÿ”ฅ

- Love it

Love this album you should buy it it makes you wanna dance

- Outrageous!!!!! I'd be dangerous hearing the songs.

Love Remember the Time, In the Closet and Dangerous, smooth and sexy songs that thrills me. Give in to me & Black or white, hard rock :-) MJ is totally amazing, I admire him and his smile.

- Absolutely awesome!!!!!!

This whole album is awesome it's worth it buy all the songs you won't be disappointed. :)

- DANGEROUS is a near-flawless masterpiece!

It's impossible to say which album is Michael Jackson's finest but DANGEROUS certainly belongs in the conversation. The only tracks that are better suited as 7" edits are "In the Closet," "Black or White," and "Will You Be There" but this is a 77-minute pop masterpiece filled with personally revealing lyrics and music ranging from R&B and rock to soul and classical.

- Love Michael Jackson

This is one of my favourite Michael Jackson albums but iTunes has all his album classified as pop just cause his title is the King of Pop Umm first MJ doesn't like pop music & second when you actually load the songs from the album it's classified as R&B MJ was the king of pop but actually sang R&B music he even said him self that he sings R&B & soul kinda music with a bit of a rock touch to it than pop

- Awesome, just awesome.

Dangerous is WICKED, awesome dance songs. Will you be there and Heal The World are brilliant songs.

- ๐Ÿ‘‘ The Best Album of All Time ๐Ÿ‘‘

This is the best album of all time, end of story. It is a marvellous journey which takes you through all levels of music, such as R&B, funk, soul, rock, gospel, New Jack Swing, Hip Hop and of course pop, with MJ as your tour guide. This was an album which he had executive producer status on. It is all his work, unlike so many modern artists, and he crafted every lyric, beat, hook and phrase out of his musical genius. You are launched into the record with 4 R&B / New jack swing / pop tracks: Jam, why u wanna trip on me, In the closet, she drives me wild. Then comes one of his most iconic and cherished songs: Remember the time, coupled with the rockish track can't let her get away. Then comes heal the world: a track with a timeless message, and ones track that MJ was most proud of making. Next is another absolutely iconic and extremely memorable track: black or white, with its great message and hook. Who is it is the best track on the album: it has a killer thumping start, a great verse and pre chorus, followed by the amazing hook. It is cushioned by two rock tracks: black or white and the hard rock give in to me. Then comes the ballads: Will you be there, keep the faith and gone too soon. They all immerse u into the music and all are perfectly beautiful in there own special way. It all ends on the perfection of the industrial sounding 'Dangerous', the best album ender he had. It is his best album, and his most diverse. Buy it!!!

Phenomenal piece of art. Jam and Dangerous could not be better songs for the opening and closing of the album. My favourite album of his. Love you and miss you MJ ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐ŸŽฉโญ๏ธโค๏ธ

- The King!

This albums nearly 25 years old and it still sounds freaking amazing

- Khan

God bless him (I love him

- Thriller

This is just on the same wavelength as Thriller. The music is so multi-dimensional, you can hear Michael performing to the beat and music. You can feel the rhythm in each different song and anticipate Michaelโ€™s dance and soul in it. It is an exceptional album that I think some people may have missed due to the sheer gravitas and height of Thriller. The type of sound on this album, I feel will be appropriated in the future, there is something different to be taken from the type of sound on this album, something that hasnโ€™t been done before. Disco and Off the Wall (Michaelโ€™s 70โ€™s album) has filtered into contemporary music - Daft Punk, Pharrell Williams etcโ€ฆ I feel that the pop-funk-performative tendencies found in Dangerous will slide into other artist practices as the sound is unique and fashionable. If you havenโ€™t bought this - buy it here - buy it in person - the album cover is a masterpiece - I used to stare at it for hours as a kid pointing out all the details behind it and Michaels autobiographical nature in there. Get this album.

- Stunning - my most listened to MJ album

This is the album I come back to again and again. From start to finish this album delivers. There is exceptionally layered music beyond which are some complex and thought provoking lyrics. This is Jackson at his absolute peak. Off The Wall, Thriller and Bad were great but nothing gives more of Michael's genius than this piece of work. Just listen to the first 6 tracks for a lesson in continuity and grabbing you by the scruff of the neck, sitting you down and saying "listen" - difficult to pick real highlights here as they're all great - Jam, In the Closet, Remember The Time were the singles but Why You Wanna Trip on Me, She Drives Me Wild and Can't Let Her Get Away are exceptional growers. Once they've got you, they'll never let go. Heal The World is an anthem which I was never too fond of initially but the sentiment is very real and one's got to rate him for that - the tune is of course Jackson at his catchiest. And then there is the onslaught of Black Or White, Who Is It, Give Into Me and Will You Be There. Wow. Listen and absorb the genius of these songs. The gospel Keep The Faith and the melancholy Gone Too Soon are fantastic. But then comes the amazing Dangerous. Best album closer he ever had. Should have been a single. If there is one MJ album you buy, be it this one.

- Amazing

Love this album along with all of mj's others! Worth getting! He was so amazing ,this album is amazing! Pest in peace sweet angel โค
