- love this album

i love this cd. it deserves 5 stars from everyone. i love that songs, they work really well on a skiing playlist, or when you want to relax on a car ride or at night.

- Best album in the universe

I trip to this album every time I hear it. Sober or not. Incredible. Thank you, Band of Horses.

- For Annabelle<3

my personal favorite on the album next to infinite arms. Wasn't a fan of BOH but now I am!

- Sorry folks, this album ROCKS

I have grown to include this album among my necessary listening staples. So classic. Fav song On my way back home. breathes fresh air and glad to hear Ben settling down cuz honestly I grow weary of hearing loud boisterous singing.

- An Absolute Disappointment

Band of Horses' first album was so great. Cease to Begin was a solid sophomore effort. I don't know what this is. They are clearly headed in the wrong direction. They were great live in 2007. When I saw them on New Year's Eve in Atlanta in 2009, I honestly considered leaving. If I hadn't paid for the ticket, I would have left. I just don't know what happened.

- Lovely

Absolutely lovely ethereal experience.

- wow

not even gonna bother buying this, sounds awful and reviews are all bad. shame '06 album is amazing

- First chord, first song, foreshadows this frivolous pop album

Yuck. Overproduced drivel. Can't believe this album is by the same band I heard in Asheville, October 2010.

- All Ben All the Time

All of the reviews are right on the money except the fellow trying to imply Ben is toxic. If you were into the first CD, then you might not be thrilled with Infinite Arms.....until you give it a chance. It really really grows on you. Perfect, no way, but it has a lot to offer. BoH has delivered three solid CDs in a row. They are evolving, still growing with Ben Bridwell at the helm. I can't wait to hear what is coming next. Ben keeps it real. Ben keeps it interesting but he knows he needs the solid support of Tyler and Bill, the looseness of Creighton and the friendship of Ryan. Band of Horses are the band we all want to be part of.

- give it a second listen

i was like many of these commenters when i first gave this album a listen, but after sitting on my shelf for a while i put it back on and have not stopped listening since! it may not be cease to begin but it is an album that stands on its own and i appreciate it for that!

- Best group

I happened to hear them on the radio recently looked them up- I love them! So rare I hear music I love- I tend to listen to oldies. But I love this album and group!! So glad I heard them!

- Let Down

When I first heard Band of Horses' first album Everything All the Time I couldnt believe how absolutely perfect the album was. It was beautiful, haunting, and an album i could not stop listening to. Every song on it. Cease to Begin went the same way. I loved it. It gave me the same amazing feeling I had when listening to Everything All the Time. Then I listened to this album and was just let down... I get it... Bands change. But I just wish this band didn't.

- this band makes kings of leon look silly. . .

i hear a lot of people complaining about "infinite arms". . .it's different from their first two but i like it for that. the lyrics may be more simpler and straightforward but it's the charm of the album. and like i said, this band simply makes similiar, more popular bands like KOL and mumford and sons look just downright silly and trite. . .this band knows how to make great tunes

- #8 CD of 2010

My #8 favorite CD of 2010 is Band Of Horses – Infinite Arms Living up to 2007’s release Cease To Begin would no doubt be tough but Infinite Arms is certainly adequate. There are no stone-cold classic hits like “No One’s Gonna Love You,” but all of the tracks are pretty solid from beginning to end. I have to admit, frontman/singer Ben Bridwell’s voice has grown and become much better over the their three-album career. But I almost miss the chill it gave me as it floated over their beautiful pop songs. Album number four was the one that sky-rocketed Kings Of Leon (another distinctive voice that has grown over the years) into outer space, perhaps that’s what lies next for these guys. Stand out tracks: "Compliments," "Infinite Arms," “Laredo” and "NW Apt."

- A really great album

This is my 2nd favorite BoH album, after Cease to Begin. I find that Cease to Begin and Infinite Arms, to me, represent the BoH sound I love most. I thoroughly enjoy Everything All the Time as well, but I find myself listening to their 2nd and 3rd albums much more. And compared to their very “meh” 4th album, Mirage Rock, Infinite Arms is a masterpiece. I’m also a bit partial to this album as my wife and I chose “For Annabelle” to be our first dance song at our wedding. Just good listening all around.

- Dilly

Dilly....Amazing

- Very Impressive!

I've never bought anything by BOH before this release, I guess because their other albums didn't resonate with me. Saw them last night opening for Kings of Leon and was immediately impressed with their wonderful sound and stage presence. Don't quite understand the critics here, unless it's like some people just don't want their favorite groups to evolve, but in listening to their earlier work and this release I see an evolutionary process that has become more marketable, which isn't neceessarily a bad thing.

- Wow

This album was very good. It had a relaxing quality which is hard to find in today's music. Was a great buy.

- Good, but not up to par

I've been a fan of theirs since the start. The minute I heard the first note on the first album I was hooked. But it hurts me to admit that this album is a big of a drop off. I should go easy on them since their first two albums were amazing. But please guys, don't pull a My Morning Jacket and ditch your sound and get all "experimental".

- Don't Know What to Say

There are a lot of negative reviews on this one. A Grammy nominated album, and it gets dusted off like it's nothing. Now, grant it, Mirage Rock was not good, Ben even admitted it in his podcast with The Nerdist. But this album is! I have a feeling many people are disappointed because of the feeling, not the music. It's not, admittedly, near close to feeling like the first two, because it isn't. It's a whole new BOH. There is so much more emotion and soul in this album. You can feel his loneliness, his emptiness, his hark of alternative backcountry soul. For Annabelle is about his daughter, Annabelle, and the spacey yet down-to-earth flow of Infinite Arms and Neighbor are truly something to experience. Laredo, Older, Compliments all lay down some worthy riffs and lines for any listener. NW Apt. is the weak link :( Blue Beard and Factory are soothing to the ears, and very good for calming down after a long day of work, or a bad day at the office. On My Way Back Home, Evening Kitchen, and Dilly can take you back to the days of EATT if you want something fresh :)

- Other reviews are insane

My personal favorite by this BOH. So many absolutely beautiful songs on this album.

- check it..

Band of Horses = awesome. They have always had this indie and redneck hand in hand vibe. With that originality came greatness. I deff. see that redneck-ness coming out strong in this one...which is where I kind of take a step back. I'm in to that whole idea they created, but this is going towards a very country sound and that sound is very unappealing to myself. This is still a good album like it or not. The songs are all sleepers, but they are still good, and there you can't complain. They are still talented individuals. They are just taking further steps toward their countryside and too me is regressing that original sound we all once heard. Good album okay? Just not in the direction fans and even newcomers would really go crazy over...

- Love it!

In my playlist at all times, its on and people ask whats that? i tell them ,and next time around they have it and A huge discussion ensues on how amazing it is!

- Very original!!

One of the best, original purest sounding Bands I've ever heard. Vocals work wonderfully with the crisp guitar sounds.

- I love it

I dont care what anyone says about their previeous work. THIS album stands on it's own and it's great. The song Infinite Arms is one of my favorite songs of all time.

- Don't believe the Backlash

This a good BOH album. While many will be disappointed at first listen because it is different from the other BOH albums, it takes time to grow on you. It is probably my least favorite of the the 3 BOH albums but it is still quite good. Just because it is different from the others, you don't need hate it. There are still many elements of why you like BOH in here.

- great junior record.

Ok, we all know, "Everything All the Time", is one of the great records that kept us believing in music, but please don't hate on "Infinite Arms". This album is just as good as "Cease to Begin". Heaven forbid a band that is trying to expand it self. Every band evolves; its just how well they evolve, and folks, they are doing just fine. "For Annabelle", ranks right up with "The Funeral", "The Great Salt Lake", and any other song that is on "Everything All the Time". Bottom line, if you don't buy this album, you are really missing out on something Great, and if you don't like it, I feel sorry for you. p.s. The lyrics are great as well. Band of Horses is not just expanding their music, they are also expanding their song writing ability. If you actually think about what they are talking about, you would understand.

- solid, but forgettable.

B.O.H. has come a long way from their first album. That's not necessarily a good thing. Their first album was original, and really hit home with heavy bass, easy melodies, and knew how to rock. With their past two albums, they seem to be moving away from why I liked them in the first place. I understand that every artist ends up far from where they began, but I sure hope they turn things around, or at least figure out where they are going.

- ROCKS!!!

I'm getting of all these haters! They must not have a good taste in music!!! I love this album! My favs r older and neighbor!!!!

- Blue Beard!!!!!

Blue Beard is extremely under rated!!! My personal favorite on this album, and maybe all of BOH! Listen to the whole thing

- wonderful

amazing album it just makes me want to drift away this band is truly one of a kind they are so unique its refreashing if you need music to get away from daily stress this album will do the trick

- Band of Horses - Infinite Arms

What is everyone complaining about? I've been a Band of Horses fan since the very beginning, and honestly, this album is incredibly consistant. We need more music that sounds like this in todays industry. Again, the whole album is fantastic, and I recommend this to anyone who loves rock music in general. Key tracks: Laredo, Infinite Arms, On My Way Back Home, Dilly and NW Apt. Buy this now!

- Different.... but still good.

I've been listening to BOH for about 3 years now and Cease to Begin is by far my favorite album of theirs. This album is definitely toned down, without many mesmorizing guitar riffs, but many of the tracks are still well-written with more of an eclectic if not dreamy feel to them. THE ALBUM IS GOOD, NOT GREAT. When I first started listening to Band of Horses I always told people their music sounded like a revamped Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young Album. (What's funny is their most famous collaboration was Deja Vu, which is what Infinite Arms gives me). If you are into Neil Young at all or any other folk-sounding bands this album will be right up your alley. Take my word for it and go right to the track Blue Beard. The last 4-5 lines sung together in perfect harmony is highly reminiscent of older Neil Young collaborations. No matter what your taste in music, hopefully you'll enjoy this album just as much as I did.

- Perfect.

So relaxing, breathtaking and unbeilevable. Just amazing, pretty much a must-buy. It's a good bridge of a hint of country-folk, and indie.

- Garbage

... is what this album is. I thought their first two albums (and especially the 2nd) were great! When I put this album on for the first time I was absolutely confused. The lyrics are uninspired, plain, and boring. Same goes for the music - just bleh! "Loredo" is the only half-way decent song on the whole album, and it's not even that great. Don't waste your time with this album.

- Great Album!!!

This album is spectacular just like their others. Each song is very different, and yet they're all amazing! Very strong, and intense music Band of horses has! Saw them live, they were great! :)

- When my thoughts drift to you

I actually really liked this album. I don't think it sounds that much different from Cease to Begin, so I don't get why everyone's disappointed. Mirage Rock is a turn in the wrong direction, not this. The title track is probably my favorite Band of Horses song ever. Other songs I like are Compliments, Blue Beard, and Factory.

- Not really a review

This isn't really a review, but the guy on the far left of the picture at the top looks like Dennis Wilson from the beach Boys when he had a beard!! lol like identical. haha

- TIRED OF YOU

this person below me is such typical sheep in the herd and part of the reason of the downfall of the world....well not really, but stop listening to what people say and use your own judgement...and if this downfall of the world continues, this album is a beautiful way to end it all......and people are full of poop and themselves ;) Factory, Blue Beard, Laredo, Infinite Arms are my personal favs

- give em a break

I know Ben and Ryan, and OF COURSE, there are going to be some songwriting hiccups while the boh boys are rediscovering and replanting themselves. Eventually, old will begin to blend with new. So, for those of you who are quick to dismiss... RELAX

- This is a Five Star Album

Back when this record first came out, I didn't like it because it was popular no to. Everybody said it was bad so I just agreed. But despite what these negative reviews inspired by pretentious groupthink claim, this is a five star album. The slower songs are the ones that shine most for me on here. Infinite Arms, Evening Kitchen, and For Annabelle have such beautiful tones to them. NW Apartments, Older, and Compliments are among the more upbeat ones that get me grooving. Blue Beard is an Eagles-esque tune with a grand finale that gets me every time. There is no one song I can understand even deterring listeners from this collection of tracks. So put your headphones with no preconceived notions and see if Infinite Arms won't grow on you! I don't write reviews but I disagree so vehemently with all the naysayers I had to say something!

- Great Album!

What a wonderful band, they have done it again!

- BOH's worst album, but there are gems to be found.

This album isn't as bad as a lot of reviewers are saying, it's just that they (the reviewers) were expecting a truly great follow-up to Band of Horses’ previous 5 star effort “Cease to Begin” and in the process, got seriously LET DOWN. I mean, I expected a great album myself because for me, they made a lot of progress in "Cease to Begin" and it still remains my favorite BOH album. In my opinion, I think BOH phoned it in on this album. The lyrics are incredibly lazy and the melodies are very soggy. If you don't believe me then listen to the first song. I mean, seriously, "YAWN". The second song, “Compliments” (which I can’t believe is the single) is another "yawn" in my opinion. Although wayyy better than the first song, it is still a big disappointment. And then comes yet another poor effort with “Laredo”. By now, most BOH fans listening to this for their first time are shocked, and they come on here (iTunes) and write 1 star reviews, but be patient my friends. This album does have some beautiful, touching songs hidden beneath the muck. "Blue Beard" is one of them. Starting at 0:55, the song takes off, although sinks towards the end. This song is one of the "gems" I was talking about. "On My Way Back Home" might be even better than Blue Beard. I think the problem reviewers have with this album is the best songs ("On My Way"), are slow (exception: "Factory"), and the worst, ("NW Apartment"), are fast. In "Cease to Begin" it seemed more the other way. There was more spirit, more rockin', more pure Indie fun in Cease to Begin. Besides “Blue Beard” and “On My Way…”, the second half of the album is pretty awful for the exception of two more slow beauties. The first is the sometimes painfully slow, but worth it “Infinite Arms”. This title track will let down most listeners the first, second, third, maybe even fourth listen, but eventually they will realize its’ beauty. The other slow beauty is “Evening Kitchen”. This song is similar in a lot of ways to “Infinite Arms”. I would best describe the two songs as rain music. Very slow and relaxing, and the simple vocal background-harmonies are what shine through. I almost forgot, BOH decided to leave us with a blissful finale. “Neighbor” is possibly the best song on the album (also possibly the slowest). It is very hard to pick a “best song” on this album, because all of the good songs sound similar. And same goes for the bad songs. That is why this album is so mediocre. It is mostly slow, boring, and un-inspired. If you played for me the five “gems” I picked out, I probably wouldn’t be able to tell you which is which. But, as terrible as most of this album is, it is still a Band of Horses album, and it is still enjoyable Indie Folk. Just take my advice, and let it sink in before ripping it to pieces and rating it 1 star. This album deserves at least 2.5 stars and I am giving it a 3. It’s a shame, a true shame, that they followed up the 5 star album “Cease to Begin” with such un-inspired muck. But, like I said before, you can sift through the muck. You always can with Indie music.

- Idk about this album

This album is very different... Not so much like the first two albums. This has a college-y tidy feel to it, idk can't really describe it.

- Band Of Horses. Kristen Stewart

I'm a newer fan of Band Of Horses and they're my new favorite band and this is my favorite album of theirs! Love For Annabelle!!! And it's far out that they're one of Kristen Stewart favorites bands too cause she's my favorite actress!!!<3

- ugh

simply mindless.

- Great

This band has found a great sound on this album. The first four songs are especially incredible. The vocals and harmonies remind me a lot of America. Does anybody else hear this?

- infinite arms

love it...and found this band by accident...great!!

- i

I used to see BOH perform free shows at Amoeba and have followed them religiously since the release of their first album. I've been moved to tears by some of their live performances. Seeing them at the Filmore SF and Catalyst in Santa Cruz, they were purely amazing. Haunting harmonies and a sound so tight and full. I was so excited when I heard some of the new songs they were playing live before this album came out. To my utter disappointment the ones I loved most didn't even make it to the track list. This is lackluster, to say the least. I suppose I'll be grateful that instead of having a sophomre slump, they gave us two untouchable albums before falling on their face. Gone are the Sub Pop days. I'll miss them fondly. After Cease to Begin and Everything All the Time, this album feels like you're drinking warm, flat budweiser. Heartbroken i'll wait, but not hold my breath for their next album. Perhaps the mistakes here will be learned from. One can only hope...

- what happened.

i loved their last album... but tonight i sold my tickets for their show because i felt so uninspired to go. their sound has changed.. and not in a good way.

- Excellent

Best Album i have heard in a while!

- I agree with Big Daddy Malone

When I heard the single, "On my way back home", it reminded me of trips to the cottage, listening to my Dad's favourite bands like Chicago and Blue Rodeo. I don't hear any "surfer beats" at all in this music, which would make the Beach Boys references relevant. This sounds like classic late 60s/early 70s rock with a tiny touch of twang, and it is quite a nice little trip. Band of Horses definitely knows their craft, and this a is a great album overall. If I were an artist, pressured by "fans" who didn't want me to step outside of a little compartmentalized box they have for me in their mind, I'd go crazy. Variety is the spice of life, and if you're listening to a band for the sound in which it categorizes you amongst your friends, then you are listening for the wrong reasons. U2 changes their sound every album, and it gives them a wide-reaching scope, and a glimpse of their talent. I would argue the same goes here.

- Contendor for Album of the Year

When I picked up the CD on the first day I didnt know what to expect from the album. 'Factory', 'Compliments', and 'Laredo' continue to be my favorites to this day after playing, replaying the entire CD. My only question is when can I see them live next?

- Beautiful and Relaxing

I have and always will be a huge fan of this band. They took a risk with a more laid-back and soft album and I happen to think it paid off! Sure, maybe we were hoping for their usual edgy alternative, but if you think about it, we were all going to get tired with the same old sound. Although it wasn't what I was expecting, it's still one of my favorite albums of theirs to date and I can't wait for the next one!

- Absolutely Stunning

This is a fantastic album. Their sound on this record has changed slightly from their previous releases, but I love what they have produced. Although it took me a few listens to fully appreciate what they have created. This is another 5 star album from Band of Horses. Highly Recommended.

- It's a shame...

...that so many people come to expect certain sounds and certain things out of musicians once they have heard something they liked previously. Like any good artist, these guys are evolving. That involves experimentation. I believe, that if you really like a band, you should expect them to surprise you and these guys have done that here. While I feel it may be a bit "over-produced", as does happen to bands as they become more swamped in the industry with people who start injecting their own opinions, this is still pretty great. They stayed close to their roots here. The album is melodic and has some great catches. I don't care for people who comment that "there isn't an 'Is There a Ghost' on this album or a 'The Funeral' or whatever song they might have wanted them to remake. If you want your favorite artists to be remaking your favorite songs then go listen to Nickelback

- Muddy

I don't mind the softer sound but whoever produces their albums should be bannished from the industry. The sound is muddy, way too much reverb, and too monaural. Too bad because the songs are great but at the same time unlistenable

- More mainstream than the last 2 albums

While I think "Factory" is one of their best songs ever, I feel like this album has tried to go mainstream a bit too much. They sound softer - a bit like Snow Patrol mixed with the Beach Boys. The weird, rockin', eclectic sound is changed to a softer sound. I do like the harmonies, but I miss the rockin'! I'm still a dedicated fan, and will buy whatever they put out. My favorite band. Go back to your roots guys, please!

- Change is progress, progress is change

Download "Blue Beard", "On my way back home", and "Infinite Arms", those songs are amazing. Yes this album is different, but it's good.

- Lo-fi

I was sort of looking forward to this as I dug "Cease to Begin" and "Everything All the Time." The one thing I did not care for on those albums were the couple of tracks that were more in the "Country" style. I respect the genre, but it's just not my thing. "Infinite Arms" is ALL about the Country sound. Can you call it alt-Country? Hmm, don't really think so. 'Factory', 'Compliments', 'Way Back Home' and 'Laredo' (which seems to sound a little too much like 'The Great Salt Lake' from EATT) are really good and the closest you'll sort of come to the "alt" vibe. I'm not saying artists have to repeat what they've already done; in fact, I hate it when listeners expect a repeat(s). We should hope that artists have great inspirations, kick things up a level and surprise us. Here BOH have gone lo-fi...they've done it well...if you're mostly into that type of thing, you'll like it. The surprise is the Country heavy sound...for me, not a good thing. As long as the band's happy, and they gain some new fans (as they surely will), it's music, and it's all good.

- Not my favourite album

Though, a solid 4 start album! They can't be 5 stars ALL the time! I've already listened to the album about 9 times over and it gets better and better. "For Annabelle" is my favourite song... though I can see "Factory" as being the radio hit. I love the wide array of styles on the album... a song for every mood. "On My Way Back Home" reminds me a lot of "Cease to Begin" and "Everything All of the Time". You'll see me at their next concert. A must buy for even the most casual BOH fan.

- Best Album of the year?

This is one of the best Albums i have herd in a long time. not since The National put out Alligator have i been so impressed with an entire album through and through every song is different and every song has its own little bit of love injected. It really seems As though BOH really want you to know they can sing with the best of them. I really enjoy this album.

- Catchier, but less substantial

I like a lot of the hitches and melodies on this disc, but on the whole would have to rate it lower than their other two albums. It sounds a bit over-refined and more poppy than rootsy. Almost like Deathcab for Cutie in some places. They may reach a larger audience with this one, but may also lose some of their faithful.

- Well produced

As a fan of all music I enjoyed the experience. Sounds like you guys put a tone of work into this album and for that I say congratulations. It's nice to have musicians in the world who actally put in an effort. Can't wait to add it to my collection of artists. I gave it 4 stars because there is always room to improve.

- Discouraged

I have to agree with the reviews below. I wish they had built on their original formula; this album sounds like watered-down soft pop.

- Solid Album

Just listened to all of 'Infinite Arms' and found it to be an excellent album. Great direction for the band in my opinion. "Blue Beard" has got to be one of their best songs...great melody and harmonies. You won't be disappointed.

- SOLID!

Overall great effort,If I had to compare it to past releases or another band,I wouldn't. Why bother!...If your a fan go out and get it now! If your a new fan to BOH,don't forget their other awsome albums!

- better luck next time

i lovd the first two albums but this album is so soft and not like it used to be. if ur favourite songs are like the funeral and is there a ghost, this is album is not for u. the only songs i like are blue beard, sometimes dilly, sometimes nw. apt., maybe evening kitchen. every other song is OK, not so good that all always want to listen to it. there is no 'funeral' or 'is there a ghost on this album in my opinion

- I'm diggin' it!

I'm thinking more a modern Everly Brothers... The harmonies give me little mini frissons!

- Band of Beach Boys?

What happened here, guys? I was once a loyal fan who would instantly purchase any new material you release without listening. That's how confident I was in your music. I'm not sure where you were heading with 'Infinite Arms', but I hope you come back to your roots with your next effort. Unfortunately I won't be giving you the same benefit of the doubt and will need to preview the album. Seriously - what happened? The sound is so watered down. Compressed. Bland. It's like the Beach Boys with a bit of edge. Really disappointed.
