This album is just what motion picture albums should be - The score! It's amazing and it gives me goosebumps! 5 stars to Hans Zimmer's wonderful work!
I have to disagree with some of the other reviews here. I'm sorry that a lot of you were expecting to find some of those great classic rock songs on this soundtrack that were included in the movie, but the soundtrack was composed by the great Hans Zimmer and Lorne Balfe. Most of the tracks are obviously going to be the original motion picture score. However, if you can't find your favourite well-known AC/DC song on this soundtrack, then chances are you probably already have the song sitting around in your music collection somewhere. So dig through your old dusty box of cds, find that mix of old rock classics you probably made years ago and forgot about (or if you're truly a fan, you'll already have every single AC/DC album anyways), and add it to your playlist. Easier yet, just find your beloved song in the iTunes store, and pay your dollar. This way, you don't have to waste your one-star reviews on this Megamind soundtrack for being just as it should be - in this case, I'd describe it as exceptional. There are many Hans Zimmer scores that are far more memorable, but I like the style and quality of this soundtrack. Most of the tracks are whimsical and never take themselves too seriously, just like the movie. The more dramatic scores really do hold up the intensity of the scene, especially during the battle towards the end of the movie. In the end, the soundtrack grabs my attention and that's what I like about it. In my opinion, an excluded song or two doesn't make this soundtrack any less enjoyable.

I was under the impression that soundtracks actually had to have something to do with the movie. What is this...what happened to the up tempo funny mood of the whole movie and what happened to the song that was in all the commercials. There is obviously a consistency issue here, the song from the commericial wasn't even in the movie and the songs from the movie aren't even in the soundtrack. Disappointment !
When you put in the megamind disc a certain song plays and it just so happens that its the one song that they didn't include in their album so if there was an edit then that would be nice 👍
I'm dissapointed that one of the best songs in the movie isn't on this album. Jeff Lynne's classic Mr. Blue Sky (Electric Light Orchestra)sets the intended mood as the whole song appears in a montage type of sequence. I'm sure this was a licensing issue. I still bought this soundtrack as the music was very well done. Of course, I'm a big ELO fan, and I thought the 2nd song during the credits sounded like it was influenced by ELO. The movie was wonderful and so was the music. For the price, this is a good buy.

I really liked the movie--scratch that LOVED IT--and the musical composure (i'm not sure if that makes sense) topped this movie off beautifully! This is an excellent score and really highlighted parts of the movie that were important. I have to admit I'm not a fan of all the scores but I really love most of them. But, trying to be a mature iTunes user, I'm not going to say "YOU SHOULD TOTALLY BUY IT", but you have my suggestion to this beautiful piece!!! :)
Who needs Megamind when we gotz Despicable Me? I'm pretty sure Dreamworks copyrighted. The only reason why I don't hate Dreamworks for this is because of "Wallace and Gromit" and "Chicken Run".
Hanz Zimmer is my favorite composer, and the MEGAMIND score is quite good, very catchy ,even if certain parts didn't sound compleatly original (the first 30 seconds of Mel-On-Cholly screams Edward Scissorhands). Although I too must express my dissapointment in the lack of AC/DC to the soundtrack. bummer :P. Of course the best attributes to the sountrack are the main character theames because they do perfectly capture each identity of their respectible tributes. If not interested in purchasing the entire soundtrack I would advise getting Giant Blue Head, Tightenville, Ollo, Roxanne, and Game Over to again experience the best parts in the movie (which was awesome! Hilarious! A THOUSAND TIMES BETTER THAN DISPICABLE ME! If only it hadn't been beaten to the punch DX) Great job to Hans Zimmer and Lorne Balfe for their fabulous score, and once again this year after How to Train Your Dragon, Fantastic job Dreamworks Animation :).
Loved the movie. Was looking forward to actual songs from the movie, and actual songs that could be Ringtones. But, this is not the case. Don't really want classical music as a ringtone. I have nothing against classical, just don't want it as a ringtone. Can't even hear it, anyway.

The soundtrack to the movie doesn't even come close to the songs in the movie! Where's AC/DC?Ozzy? Michael Jackson? Only a couple good songs after their songs! Will NOT be purchasing this soundtrack:(

I'm not seeing why almost everyone is so bent on trashing this . . . As far as instrumental music goes, this is definitely a big hit. The rock songs are all classics, definitely available elsewhere. Please, if you must comment to complain about the lack of heavy rock, could you be a little more respectful? As far as movies scores go, this one is very well done. The track is everything from fun and bouncy (Giant Blue Head), to determined and serious (I'm the Bad Guy), to emotional and deep (Rejected in the Rain). The last has to be my favorite, there is such richness and beauty portrayed in the music. The whole album is very well crafted; Hans Zimmer is an artist in the field. I'm giving this album four out of five stars.

Yes, the movie had famous rock songs. But if that's what you are here for then go look up one of the twenty thousand lists of what songs they are on google and buy them separately. If you don't like soundtrack music then don't buy it, or bash it please. Hans Zimmer is one of the great music composers of our time. Did you like Pirates of the Carribean music? He did that. I personally think this soundtrack is pretty great. But remember, it was crafted to fit the movie, not your taste. But if you like soundtrack, I certainly recommend this one! :)
It was definetly a good buy. I wouldn't have bought the background music though. I only would've bought the music that was by the other artists. But when I listened to the rest I really loved it!!!!! I so recommend this!!!!!!!!!!

It confuses me that they have the soundtrack for Megamind on the iTunes store, but they don't have the movie. This makes me very sad because Megamind is one of my favorite movies ever. I got a gift card for itunes for my grad party and I thought it would be cool to buy a movie, but none of the movies seemed worthwhile to buy on here because I probably wouldn't watch them very much. But then I thought of Megamind and that seemed like a great idea and I was going to buy it right then only to figure out that they don't have it on here. :'-(
so my son loves the rock songs from the movie ac/dc, kiss, michael jackson...all great songs! so I was gonna buy him the soundtrack but to my disappointment there are only three sons on there, and not even the best ones. Don't get me wrong the music was great but I really hope maybe they put out a second one with the rock songs.....
No offense, but some of you people should just not comment at all. The things you say are quite immature and unnecessary. This is a SCORE to a movie. Yeah....there won't be stupid rock songs on it because it's the orchestral music by HANS ZIMMER. this is for people who like THE SCORE from the movie. Get it? It's quite simple. They make OTHER CDs for your "real songs with words" ....probably at a different time. Honestly, it's scary how many people don't understand music and get how it works. So, before you comment...realize the what your doing can be seen by other fans of THIS artist and his work. If you dont like it...thats fine. But then write a comment as to why. Obviously....this music in fantastic and I'm sure will win a couple awards. So please DO NOT RATE THIS CD BECAUSE THERE ARE SONGS YOU DONT WANT ON IT...THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE ACTUAL MUSIC. that is all. As for the MUSIC in this SCORE...........it's wonderful. Hans really has nailed it this time around. It's fast paced, and mixes electronic with orchestral arrangements extremly well. Very fun.....new themes, and attention to detail in the specific sound is totally unreal. I recommend it to other fans of hans or film scores. There. A real, and focused comment.

I agree with others who were expecting to buy the soundtrack with the rock songs they played throughout the entire movie! I am disappointed...won't be making this purchase.
Something I love about Mr. Zimmer's work is that he can make a great score to any movie. Megamind was an awesome movie, but kids movies aren't always the best place to put out your best effort. But Mr. Zimmer and Mr. Balfe both did great work on this soundtrack. I hope to add it to my collection of his music soon!
I love Hans Zimmer but a big "Rotten Tomato" to the producers of the album for not including the Megamix at the end with Bad... What a rip-off. 5 Stars for the music - 0 Stars to Lakeshore.
People complaining about the songs on here are being immature. Go buy them yourself on some other album- not that hard. This is really a nice soundtrack. My only complaint is that they didn't include the piece when Megamind was falling in the beginning. Other than that, buy it, it's great!

Really, I had no expectation for this movie. But it turned out great! The emotions of mega mind were developed and rounded. But the most interesting part is that despicable me had a similar storyline, and megamind was defenetly the better of the two. And now to the music, it's granted, strange, but I think it represents megamind's twisted, two sided character. I love Hans Zimmer, and think he was humorusly attached to the other composer. Over all bingo!!!!!!! P.S. Where's the music like mj's I'm bad!

I love megamind! Yay evil big blue head guys! I love the music from it too, especially the Michael Jackson one. I don't understand why megamind was always never picked. I love his giant head and his fun personality. I think that music man, or whatever his name is, is really stupid. Even as a baby he was mean to megamind. Megamind is just misunderstood. I can relate.

Fun soundtrack! Not many producers courageous enough to use heavy metal as the pocket to pick from when creating a soundtrack. Is it just me or does the "I'm the Bad Guy" track sound a lot like Rush's "Natural Science" on the Permanent Waves album (middle sectionof 9 min. song!) Chime in!

This is by far my favourite Dreamworks movie, and Hans Zimmer has done a great job with the characters themes throughout the movie. These songs are enjoyable and easy to listen to, and complimented the movie to a high standard.

Most of the best tracks are not on this album, the majority is score as opposed to the songs that lovers of this film would hope to see. A waste of money on my view.

Love the soundtrack but there are a couple of great songs missing like 'Highway to Hell' and 'Welcome to The Jungle' :(
I absolutely love the soundtrack, the scores are light and preserve the playful nature of the movie and if anything enhance the fighting scenes - for instance - to make them less serious. Of course it would have been even better to have 'Welcome to the Jungle' and such on it too, but it doesn't take minutes to find them on your own and as long as the scores are here, I'm more than happy. Well, with that and a sequel and I'd be even happier! ´･ᴗ･`

Im not entirely sure what fishfingerism is talking about when they say that none of these tracks are used in the film, as they all are. The score itself is really quite good with a lot of variety to it, not one of Hans Zimmers best pieces but still enjoyable :)
quite a few people are deaf to the soundtrack when they are imersed in a film (fishfingerism). A brilliant soundtrack becomes invisible to untrained ears when its working well....of course movie soundtrack buffs can move away from the action on screen and just focus on the music to see if its worth buying...and this certainly is! its up there with Zimmers Best!
