My first memories of films were Superman, Star Wars, & Ghostbusters. Now after almost 30 years that main title march & Superman theme still sends goosebumps up my arms.

As a big fan of John Williams and his music, I have to say his work on this score is nothing short of brilliant. The score for Superman: The Movie will please anyone that has an interest in film scores, and anyone thats a Superman fan. It's hard to see it getting better than this for the Man of Steel.

I have the original L.P. album & i do believe this is the entire album & then some . This is by far a good buy . The original album has only 16 songs, The flying sequence & can you read my mind are counted as one. Iam not sure why some people are saying this is a partial album, I really dont see what is missing, If anything they are giving you more& don't waste your money on anything else the original has The London Symphony Orchestra on it.

I was going to write a long elaborate review about one piece in particular, The Planet Krypton. However, it looks like pa...'s review sums it up perfectly. This song has the most majestic feel I have EVER heard!!! The rest of the album has its highlights, Prelude of course and the various Can you read my mind love themes. I would also suggest to anyone who likes this score, look at Superman - The Move (Original Motion Picture Score). It has March of the Villains. This is a playful interpretation of Gene Hackman's Lex character.

John Williams really outdid himself on this soundtrack. Has anyone besides Richard Wagner captured in music the essence of a heroic man/god soaring in flight the way Williams does here? I particularly love The Planet Krypton on this album - though it is very short, it's just an incredibly moving piece.

As much as I love the Star Wars soundtrack, this is William's greatest (and one of the best of all time).

The Planet Krypton is out of this world. It is used today in the Superman Returns teaser with Brando's voiceover and I can't stop watching it. It really sounds like it was written for a superior force that is narrating the story of an ancient civilization - precisely as it is supposed to. I can't think of many sounds that create such a realistic environment and I would give as much credit to Williams for The Planet Krypton as I would to the entire team of Superman Returns for being a success, if it becomes one...

It's great music, we all know that. But why - OH WHY - does iTunes insist on this only being a partial album? It's real hard to find in stores; I would totally buy it if it was the complete soundtrack. Why, guys, WHY? :( Please make the full album available - iTunes would make a good bit of money due to the low availability of this soundtrack on CD. It may not be a complete album but it's a superb example of what soundtrack SHOULD sound like! Highly recommended!

This is one of Williams' best from a very consistently excellent period of his film scores. Starting with "Jaws" right through to "Raider's of the Lost Ark," John Williams produced some incredibly moving, evocative and rousing film scores. Superman is from this period and makes you want to cheer just listening to the main theme. Some of the pieces are a little repetitive (meaning they sound like pieces from his other films), but in the main each is fun and immediately calls up images and moods from the film's various moments. It's not listed here but one of my favorite J. William's pieces is from this film called 'March of the Villains' (I believe) and makes me smile thinking of Ned Beatty being watched by Gene Hackman as he descends to their lair. A must have.

Everytime I hear this song, I feel like flying.... U can't beat John Williams and The London Symphony Orchestra. No one can touch them nor compare to him.

Buy the soundtrack is worh every sinle penny that you pay. john williams is one of the best movie composer of this century. just listen to planet Krypton and you see. this soundtrack is amazing you could hear it without watching the movie. the movie it self is a spectacular worh to see but the soundtrack really helps the movie.

I love this music, of course. I have tried many times to inform Apple that a couple of the files are corrupted, with severe clicks and skips. The only responses I have gotten simply have said they won't do anything, and music cannot be refunded. I haven't wanted a refund, just a non-corrupted file. Service and support?? Not this time, unfortunately.

I've been dreaming of this. This is an American Classic from one of America's greatest composers ever. I use to watch the movie just to listen to the music, so I was hoping for the whole thing. But our buddies at itunes will get us the whole album soon. Also, could you get the music he wrote for LOST IN SPACE, the original series. It is great stuff also. Thanks.

I find this soundtrack is a lot like star wars that may have something to do with the fact that it was made by the same composer. Great soundtrack especially "Planet Krypton"

This is the fully restored Rhino soundtrack and it contains every track (35 in total) on the double CD as released to stores. I can only guess that the reviews for this product were written when an earlier iteration of the soundtrack was supplied to Apple iTunes by Warner Bros. / Rhino. But fear not, this version as posted is every second the full version and it contains substantially more music (including alternate versions) that were not contained in the original 1978 double-LP release. Needless to say that it's one of the most recognizable music scores in the history of cinema, and epic beyond review. It simply needed to be said that all previous reviews which claim it to be incomplete are no longer accurate - if ever they were. Buy and enjoy, enjoy, enjoy.
