Unarguably one of the best debut albums of the '80s, one of their best and the one that started it all! The only downside is that iTunes put "remastered" in the title of the album and every song title. I don't care if it's remastered but don't put the word "remastered" in the album name and every song title, it just ruins it.
This is the best album. The album that started, ya'know, THRASH METAL .The album that started the amazing band Metallica. The album that introduced Kirk hammet's amazing guitar solos.BEST SONG seek'n'destroy
What can I say the one that started it all.
I’m probably one of Metallica’s biggest fans, but this album doesn’t really fit with me. It’s not a bad album at all but the sound quality and James’s vocals on this album brings part of it down. The only song that I love on this album is Whiplash. The sound isn’t bad and the vocals aren’t bad. It’s a song that gets me going (cuz of the adrenaline). Seek & Destroy and The Four Horsemen are pretty good. Jump In The Fire and Metal Militia are some good songs also. Everyone loves this album but I don’t get it. I have no hate to the album, just it’s not really an album I would listen to. But Anesthesia is a song that I don’t like at all. Crappy sound bass solo. Everyone says it’s perfect but that part is kinda weird. A 6.5/10 album, 8th favorite Metallica album. MY RANKING 1. Whiplash 2. Seek & Destroy 3. The Four Horsemen 4. Metal Militia 5. Jump In The Fire 6. No Remorse 7. Phantom Lord 8. Motorbreath 9. Hit The Lights 10. (Anesthesia)—Pulling Teeth
Fast, raw, loud and angry. Are you kidding me, Phantom Lord?! This album has more in common with Suicidal Tendencies and TSOL than Metallica itself circa Master.
🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘 It’s Metallica obviously it’s five stars
This is an advanced album for its time and is influential to this day. It’s bound to get anybody’s head banging even if you’re not a metal head.
this first album is the best album
Metallica's best has and always will be the first four albums I love the Black Album but it can't beat those four albums. This one just isn't as good as ...And Justice For All, Ride The Lightning and the perfection that is Master Of Puppets. However this album is still absolutely amazing and is a must buy for any Metallica fan or metalhead even if you don't like this album give it a listen because it's one of the most important metal albums to ever come out.
Great album, but if you want am I evil or blitzkrieg, it's on the deluxe remastered version of ride the lightning. You can thank me later.
Metalicas firs album all the way throught the enter sand man album we’re the best ones also Metallica we’re going to name them selves phantom lord but they Disney and also Dave mustan from megadeth was a part of Metallica but they kicked him and I’m 11 years old
Aside from that, it’s an all around great album. 👍🏻
This is one of the best Metallica albums, and to think that they were like 22 when they made this album, is amazing.
The small amount of people that knew who Metallica was at this time spoke about them in hushed whispers. Those that had been fortunate enough to see them live at L’amour in Brooklyn with “Pig Vomit” opening, had come away with hearing loss and a new religion. Play this loud.
👍🏽👍🏽
Their best along with justice hands down..
Metallica in its purest form. Pure energy. Exceptional power. Highlights? Whiplash, Hit the Lights, and Metal Militia.
❤️
Good stuff, I’m 13
Summer 1989 is when I was introduced to Metallica by my cousin. I had been into Motley Crue & Skid Row, and then I heard Kill 'Em All & never looked back. Whiplash was freakin' awesome, Phantom Lord had a darker sound, & Metal Militia was the fastest song I had ever heard up to that point. Hard to believe that by the time I had first heard this album, it was considered 'old hat', but that was 27 years ago, and I recommend this as a must-have for any fans of thrash metal.
Seek and Destroy was their most famous loved the 3 pt. solo of it. But my personal favorite was Whiplash it was literally about them! Metallica really “Killed Em’ All” with this album 😉
Am I Evil and Blitzkrieg should be on this.
This album is good and cool
Am I evil? blizkreig? C’mon Apple. Seriously?
The thrash was excellent and Metallica really kickstarted their career with this album
My parents don’t like it but I do, this is the third best Metallica album. Whiplash and the four horsemen are the beat song
Is one of the best songs in this album but I’m planning to get every album but not the singles and-eps please don’t get mad at me your my favorite band now! 🙂🙂🙂 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Generally, artists first album’s are weaker than their successors, this was the case with Metallica’s first album. I really like The Four Horsemen and No Remorse.
This is probably the fastest Metallica record, and a fantastic album. Hit the Lights, Phantom Lord, and No Remorse are my favorites. Easy 5 stars.
“We’ll never stop, we’ll never quit, because we’re Metallica.” 🤘🏻
Don't get me wrong! Metallica is still one amazing band and is still putting out killer tunes aplenty. Those first 3 albums will always be special to me. To me personally, I feel this album, along with Ride The Lightning and Master of Puppets are arguably their best work. Key tracks: Hit The Lights Seek & Destroy Anesthesia ( Pulling Teeth ) The Four Horsemen Jump in the Fire Just to name a few. This is one killer album. Download now. Feel the ferocity, speed, passion, and power of one of the best metal bands on earth in their prime!!!!
Johnny Ramone meets Tony Iommi. And they ripped off a song title from a stooges song and a riff in a sabbath song called children of the grave. And metal is forever saved from the likes of motley crue, van halen, and poison. This album rocks like no other. buy it now.
Their best album is a tie between Kill em All, And Justice for All, and Ride the Lightning. The raw feel of this album plus the break-neck speed of the riffs and the solos is what makes this album. 5/5
Keep all others this is the one and only for me
This is what started it all,the best album ever of thrash metal. It's pure and RAW!!!!🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
This is the best album (in my opinion) I’m a guitarist and Bassist, my favorite songs to play come from this album. The four horsemen and seek and destroy are to this day my favorite Metallica songs. Other than Orion... love Orion...
This album is the best album ever and motorbreath is the best song.
metallica kill,em all is an awesome album
This was one of my first trash metal album in the late 80’s I remember I couldn’t get enough of that cassette, it was and it still is a spectacular album
Other than kill em all
Dope album
I love Metallica, mostly their first 5 albums, and this is a classic one! I like the songs: hit the lights, The four horsemen, jump in the fire, and metal militia. Also (paying respects to Cliff Burton) I like the pulling teeth thingy
Dave Mustaine is The Godfather of thrash metal and this excellent album proves his prowess!
Ok, I’m not gonna lie, I’m a metalhead and I’m more into death metal. I’ve never cared a ton for Metallica, but this album is amazing. Nearly every song on this album is pure perfection, and the songs that aren’t good are still bangers. Personally, I don’t care for Phantom Lord or Seek and Destroy a lot, but I won’t deny that they’re great songs. Every song on this album is amazing, and the songs that aren’t that great are still really great
... Because I was head banging so hard!🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
To fully appreciate any US thrash metal from this era, you need to understand how much emotion was going into everything. Mustaine was putting out crazy music to prove he didn’t need Metallica, and Metallica was proving they didn’t need Dave. Golden era of metal.
This being their first album, it was an awesome way to start off their long reign of being the true kings of thrash metal!
Kill Em All has not aged quite as well as its follow-ups due to thin production, but even so it’s still a shocking album for 1983. The full throttle speed of a lot of the songs was unheard of in heavy metal back then, and its influence quickly spread amongst the crowd going so far as to force Slayer to change their sound from NWOBHM to thrash. Lest we forget, Dave Mustaine wrote a lot of songs on here including The Four Horsemen (which he’d turn into Mechanix with Megadeth, creating the most divisive debate about which song is better), and therefore he has just as much a hand in the impact of KEA inasmuch as James Hetfield or Lars Ulrich or dare I say Cliff Burton. As a historic record, the album’s ideas were so far ahead of everybody else in metal during a period where it was really either Van Halen (with Dave Roth of course NOT Hagar) or Motley Crüe to choose from. If you wanted heavier you’d have to look very hard because it was mainly British bands that pushed the limits like Judas Priest or Iron Maiden. But after KEA, Motörhead’s idea of fusing metal with fast punk became gospel, leading to most metal becoming more extreme in contrast to the mainstream glam which became more, shall we say, gay. Without KEA, we would not have Ride the Lightning or Master of Puppets’ revolutionary innovations, and possibly no death metal either. The songs sound more in the vein of NWOBHM than later works, but the speed is what makes this purely thrash. It doesn’t pulverize as much as later stuff, but compositionally speaking KEA might be Metallica’s most aggressive release if it wasn’t for the outdated production. If you are starting off listening to Metallica, it wouldn’t hurt to start with this one and work your way up successive albums to get a feel as to what it was first like experiencing Metallica during the heyday of the 80’s, and the changes in both rock and metal alike because of them. I wouldn’t listen to butthurt fans still angry they went mainstream in 1991, because this band has a lot to offer if you’re willing to take the time. Enjoy every Metallica release for what it is and relax.
Hit the lights!

There’s a f@
1: Master 2: RTL/ kill ‘em all 3: justice (it’s a really close runner up to 2nd) 4: black album
Unforgettable
at the beginning I had no idea there was a Cliff Burton Bass (RIP) solo on the album Whiplash is my favourite song among others .
so this is the origin of hetfield, ulrich, hammett, and burton. (and mustaine too.) they all sound amazing considering it’s their first album. but i’m a little sad about am i evil and blitzkreig. where have they gone??? other than that, my favourite has to be , hands down, cliff's bass solo. CLIFF IS AND FOREVER WILL BE A GOD. jump in the fire , seek and destroy, hit the lights, and whiplash are my favourites. this album will live forever.
Masterpiece
Mustaines riffs are awesome!!!
Their best and only good album. Where the f..k is "am I evil"? Don't get itune version.
This is by far the best Metallica album
Ok no soooo much good song like mop but best ALBUM
Best album of all time together with ride the lightning 😍
Le premier mais non le moindre,je le conseille à tous les fans de métal
This is one amazing album!! Love it..
One of the fastest guitar riff and gnarliest basslines album ever! I grew up in the 80's listening to this album and it still holds so much strength today! Can you imagine Cliff playing the grooviest line in 'Jump in the fire' live on stage. This album is epic and if you haven't heard this album, you don't know this band. Metallica's first album would ultimaly be their best for me. Yeah!
This remaster is not good. It sounds like someone pulled up the tracks in ProTools, slapped a 7-band EQ on them and experimented with a low pass filter. That kick drum sounds awful. If you are a diehard, you will appreciate the more audible bass track, but otherwise stick with your original copy. I am extremely disappointed.
One of my favorite albums ever. Do not question it. if you are into the early souns, you owe it to history.
Awesome record!
"Kill 'Em All" est le premier album du groupe. C'est un très bon disque. Les chansons sont bien travaillées, si l'on prend compte que c'est leur premier album. De plus, le chant de Hetfield est superbe. J'aime bien les chansons "Seek & Destroy", "The Four Horsemen", "Whiplash", "Jump In Fire" et "Hit The Lights". Un très bon album.
