Dreamline, Bravado and especially Roll the Bones are some great Rush Songs. For me this album is a return to the harder, guitar driven Rush songs. There are still prominent synthesizers on this album but there is a harder edge. I think this is a move in the right direction for Rush.
This is a really good album”Dreamline” Has A Good Bass Riff Every once in a while in the background.”Face Up” has a good beat. I especially love the bass in “Where’s My Thing?”. “The Big Wheel” is my favorite song from this album, it has good rhythms. “Heresy” has one hell of a great melody. “Ghost of a Chance” has good guitar riffs.
Doesn't come up as a Apple digital master?
This is by far the best rush song I have ever heard in my life. From when I was little I always thought closer to the heart was the best but after hearing ghost of a chance no other song is as good and it has phenomenal guitar playing
I likeed the song Roll the Bones, but that god awful pop/rap narration sections weren't needed at all. It made no sense to me. Overall a pretty good album, still trying to get into their 90's stuff
ive had this song for 16 years already. andits still heating up my nerves til now
Very aggressive playing record, Rush’s playing is flawless and as always the first song of their albums is a true statement saying “we are here”. The Big Wheel is a unmistakably Rush sound. 20 plus years later, this record still sounds amazing.
One of the best RUSH albums. Dreamline, Bravado, The Big Wheel, Ghost Of A Chance all excellent. Highly recommended
Half of this album is as good as anything they’ve ever done: Dreamline, Bravado, Ghost of a Chance, Roll the Bones, and Neurotica - all incredible songs. The rest… good.
I started being a Rush fan with Moving Pictures and Grace Under Pressure. Even though I loved the so called "synth" albums, I got exposed to their earlier stuff and knew how heavy the could be. I was thrilled that they moved back to the more heavier sound. This is a solid album. Some great lyrics as well.
Absolute genius from Rush.EPIC!
This album still sounds great. It was my entry to Rush as a teenager. Dreamline still resonates and Ghost of a Chance is just as much of a classic as Freewill. Has a little of the early 90’s sensitive rock feel (like Extreme) but is wholly better!
When this album first came out, I thought it was the best Rush album since Signals. Now, I'm not so sure. It is definitely an improvement over Presto, in terms of songs. A bit more playing and less singing on this and Alex Lifeson contributes more to the songs, at least in terms of playing. Nice to have an instrumental (Where's My Thing?) and it's also nice to see Rush lighten up a bit and show off their sense of humor and to get funky on a few songs. The production is awful, though. Everything sounds thin, from the synthesizers, to Peart's drums to Lifeson's guitar. And I will be a happier fellow if I never hear the songs Dreamline and Roll the Bones ever again, and I used to like these songs! And Neurotica is awful, especially the refrain. BUT, I love at least half the album, particularly Ghost Of a Chance, Bravado and Heresy. The album ends on a good note with You Bet Your Life. The guys sound inspired on this. And this tour was the only time I saw Rush live, so the album has some nice memories for me. Pretty good.
I am a life long super rush fan and find this album to be there weakest. That being said there are still a few Mabe three songs that are clasics like roll the bones and ghost of a chance! It depends on your taste, not quite hard rock more contemporary with there minds on how to structure songs instead of what’s in them . I still love them and think they are the best at what they do each is a master at his craft.
Excellent… greatness is easy to find with this band
Rush's 14th studio album was met with a little bit of confusion when it was released primarily with the song "Roll the Bones" and it's rap section in the middle of the track. It has though become a popular song for them live. (Lately on their successful R40 tour). The production is a continuation of "Presto", their previous release. The rest of the songs however provides some of the trio's most interesting and thoughtful melodies, as well as some softer toned songs. "Dreamline" starts off with a powerful riff that Alex Lifeson drives home throughout. "Ghost of a Chance" has one of the most deepest and inimate lyrics that drummer Neil Peart has ever penned, and Geddy Lee sings them so gracefully. For their next album though, Rush realized they will need to get heavier to survive in this new decade.
