Don't waste your money. Buy the original concept album with Anthony Warlow, who is brilliant as the title characters. And for that matter, why is it not available on ITUNES!!!?? Robert Cuccioli is not worth purchasing. I gave it two stars because of the music.
The band i'm in is doing a marching show for Jekyll and Hyde. Hearing these songs really helped mainly for the song In His Eyes since i'm solo trumpet for this year.
The first song I heard was "Murder, Murder" and it snow-balled from there! Not only is the cast perfect for their characters, but the music is haunting and almost every song is memorable! Frank Wildhorn really outdid himself with Jekyll and Hyde!
Amazing i loved it!!!
I love this album! It really portrays the theme of the book and play very well.
I might of had to buy bring on the men from one of Linda's albums, but all in all this album was perfection!
I love Jekyll & Hyde. So much so that I’ve seen it on Broadway 3 times, back in the day. However, this download has cut all the tracks and I cannot seem to make them work no matter how I try. I feel VERY cheated right now...
Wow, this musical is amazing. The voices, of course, blew me away and the music itself will haunt your mind. Beautifully written to every last song. If you are a musical fan, buy the whole CD. Want to sample? Buy: In His Eyes- A beautiful duet Someone like you- A moving Ballad One of my best purchases...
i just saw a performance of this at my senior high school and i seriously thought i was at a professional theatre. they were absolutely amazing! one bummer of this soundtrack though, is it doesnt have my favorite song "Bring On The Men". its what Lucy sings in the pub. but aside from that, its awesome!! :-)
This album is decent, but there are far better ones that aren't on itunes. The show is absolutely amazing, and definitely my personal favorite. Songs to buy: Facade, No One Knows Who I am, Good 'N' Evil, Your Work and Nothing More, Someone Like You, Murder Murder, In His Eyes, Dangerous Game.
The score for Jekyll & Hyde is SUPERB. Any fan of Sweeney Todd will love this. However, I prefer the 1994 concept album starring Anthony Warlow (which is not available on iTunes). The orchestrations are even better, but this is also a must have.
Before you bash it for not having some songs, remember that the final Broadway version is very different from the Concept recording. In fact, in actuallity, this is only missing: - The Board of Governors (FAR too long... most of these songs don't hit two minutes, but this song is almost ten minutes) - Here's to the Night (Lucy Meets Hyde... you probably wouldn't care if it did have this) - Sympathy, Tenderness (Reprise) (Hard to get across in an album) In fact, George Merritt and Barrie Ingham are wonderful in their roles, and Christiane Noll is a superior Emma, so no complaints there. Bob has a very nice Hyde voice, and I think it's silly to compare two very different actors, especially when Jekyll's role got such a huge change between the two. He hits the notes, and I love his "Lost in the Darkness (Reprise)". "Good 'n' Evil" has more to do with the show than "Bring on the Men"... besides, you can purchase Linda Eder's version on this site, and replace the song, anyway. Overall, this album is wonderful and very catchy. I'd recommend it to any Broadway fan.
They did an one with David hasselhoff I was really hopping to get his version of Confrontation but they sadly didn't make anything with him...
I love this musical. The music is great. I would have given it five starts, but it has been giving me endless technical difficulties. Songs will stop working or disappear off my phone, and I have to go in and re-sync the album on iTunes. It's happened several times now with different songs. It's been so much of a pain that I think this is going to be the last time I buy an album from iTunes.
I really like the music! my band did a feild show on it last year and we all enjoyed the music
I agree with other posters....I was originally drawn to this musical when exposed to the original complete work with the concept cast. Anthony Warlow far more skillfully captures the diametrically opposed personas if Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, with greater passion and commitment to the role. Linda Eder was a fantastic in both recordings but the original Lisa Carrew played by Carolee Carmello (rather than the distasteful "Emma Carrew" of this recording) also captured the character much more adeptly than the artist featured in this recording. I fell in love with the original and see this as a disappointing imitation. Most people I have run into who like this version are quick converts when I loan them my copy of the original concept recording. Of course, I make them sign a waiver promising me copious quantities of money should they lose, damage or misplace my copy while they have it! Ha ha. There was that one girl in college that liked this version better, but she also still regularly listens to her CDs of Milli Vanilli so I am skeptical of her judgement to begin with. Ha ha. Buyer beware, once you hear the original concept recording, you'll wish you could get your money back on this one! I still love this musical though and it is by far my favorite musical
Jekyll and Hyde is one of my favorite Wildhorn scores and it doesn't disappoint here. The cast sounds great. The only complaint I have is that I wish they'd included "The Board of Governors" and "Bring On The Men".
This musical is my all time favorite. Passion and emotion create a blood pumping thriller in Jekyll and Hyde. Even without watching it on broadway you can follow the story to the point of tears in the finale. Favorites of mine include Facade, Murder Murder!, Alive, This is the Moment, In His Eyes, A New Life, Good N' Evil, and Someone Like You. However, ITS ALL GOOD! There are of course many different versions but this album is still excellent.
I LOVE these songs!! There are songs to please every personality! They're romantic, passionate, venge-full, and everything else inbetween!! I recommend this to everyone who likes really good music! If you're only buying a couple of songs, make In His Eyes and Someone Like You some of them!
I absolutely adore this musical, and this version is very good, but I was disappointed with the fact that "Board of Governors" is missing. Despite that and the fact that a few other songs are not included, I enjoyed it.
This is, in my opinion, one of the BEST musicals of all time. EVER. There is truth to it, and it's entertaining. I advise you to buy this album. It is worth every penny.
I love this Musical and it songs are awsome I Should know because I am playing some of the pieces of this musical in my band class
This is such an amazing musical. Such great audition material and the voices are just amazing. This is one of my favorite musicals of all time and Someone Like You and Once Upon a Dream are my favorite songs. This is such great music.
Lucy and Jekyll/Hyde were wonderful! So was Emma! Though I agree with other reviews...they cut out WAY too many songs. Many people have mentioned "Bring on the Men" being cut out, but what about "Sympathy, Tenderness (reprise)". The song where Lucy is murdered. Cutting that song out is a crime.
Definately worth getting. This musical is so amazing. There is not ONE song that is boring. It is dark and evil, yet the story line is loving, and all of the music is just great! One of my favourite musicals of all time - DEFINATELY!
I love Jekyll & Hyde and think that the show deserves more fanfare and attention than it has gotten. But why were so many changes made to the show between 1994 and its opening on Broadway in 1997? Spare yourself the endless "Facade" reprises and look into getting the JEKYLL AND HYDE: THE GOTHIC MUSICAL THRILLER soundtrack instead. I'm sure that this soundtrack is very good, but the combination of Anthony Warlow, Linda Eder, a wonderful cast, and great orchestrations is near perfect. Plus, that soundtrack includes "Bring on the Men," which is oddly not included in this soundtrack, and a few other good songs that were cut from the show for one reason or another. I am disappointed that the 1994 soundtrack does not include "Lost in the Darkness," but that is my only complaint.
This show, just from hearing the soundtrack and watching some clips, reminds me a lot of Bat Boy and Sweeney Todd and the Phantom of the Oprea both in story and music. It's great to listen to but seems to have a little to many ballad-like songs and not enough up tempo one. It's still quite good and very mature with it's lyrics and music.
I'm a huge Jekyll & Hyde fan, as you can tell. My vote is that, forgive me, this is simply my opinion, this is the best recording ever, and better than any other CD on iTunes, at that. When I first heard this, I immediately fell in love with the music. I love the Anthony Warlow CD, too, don't get me wrong, but Bob Cuccioli's voice is so warm, soft, passionate, and sincere, like in Lost in the Darkness, and somewhere during This is the Moment, while you're cheering him on, you think "Oh my gosh, there's something wrong here.", leading right up to the Transformation. If it's any consolation to anyone out there, Bring on the Men and I Need to Know are both in the currently licensed MTI version of the script, and a newer interpretation of the old music can be found in the FCLO script. However, if you had all of the music from the Anthony Complete Work Warlow CD, the show would probably run up to 4 hours. And Mr. Stride dies in this version, which is cool. Overall, you truly get to feel Jekyll and Hyde's raging battles of wills, to completely isolate each other from themselves, until the last stand.
I saw Reynolds High School perform this and I was immeadietly hooked! This is one of the best musicals I've ever heard! It's touch of darkness puts it up there with such fantastic performances such as "The Phntom of the Opera". Simply wonderful! Best Songs: -Facade -Alive and Alive (Reprise) -Your Work and Nothing More -Dangerous Game -Confrontation (The best of the whole show)
When the next history of America's greatist musicals is written, J&H will be second only to Oklahoma in the U.S. and Phantom in the world. It's theme is universal in the constant of love and our desire as well as search for it, This play is destined for a super revival which will cement it as a classic.
This album is great as. Some other reviews are not in agreement because of song selection, but songs like "Good and Evil", "Murder, Murder", and others make up for the songs that were cut from the Concept albums to make it a stronger show overall. Linda Eder and Bob Cuciolli are amazing in the show. If nothing else that is reason enough to buy the album. Plus, there are a few songs on here that are way better than the "Resurrection" cast like "Lost in the Darkness", "Good and Evil" and "Confrontation" all of which were either replaced or changed on the new cd.
Seriously...the music is so powerful...but so super duper sad. I cry in every single song. So touching though.
These songs are so beautiful! Extremely catchy too! My school is preforming this musical. The songs are always stuck in my head! It's not a bad thing though because the lyrics and the melodies or so incredible!
Robert Cuccioli is much much better than the later one with David Hasselhoff. If you agree with with me, press yes. If u want to buy some songs and ure not sure what u wanna buy, I suggest... Lost in the Darkness Facade This is the Moment Someone Like You In His Eyes and Confrontation But, hey, they're all good. Buy the whole album.
As A True J&H Fan I cannot Give Any Album Less Than A Perfect Score. I Have Every Album Imaginable For This Show(The Complete Work, This One, Film Version) And In My Opinion There Are Songs/Actors And Actresses Which I Think Are Stronger Than Others. For Instance, I Think Anthony Warlow(Complete Work), Coleen Sexton(Film), And Christiane Noll Are The Perfect Trio. I Saw Many Other Reveiwers Stating This Album Is Not As Good As The Complete Work, But Having Listened To Both That Cannot Be Stated. The Two Are Almost Completely Different. Different Songs, Instruments, Personalities, Names, Dialogue, Everything. In Conclusion, The Show Is Truly Amazing And This Album Defiently Gives It Justice. I Would Recommend Though That You At Least listen To The Other AQlbums Because The Complete Work Is As Others Say, Amazing.
Docked one star because iTunes lists the entire cast for every song but the entire cast doesn't sing on every song! On "Someone Like You", that's obviously a solo by the Lucy Harris character, played by Linda Eder. Other sites have it correct, why not iTunes?
I love the show Jekyll & Hyde. This is a disappointment. In the Original Concept Album Linda Eder gives a better performance and Anthony Warlow portrays Jekyll/Hyde MUCH better than Christiane Noll. Warlow has a much wider range than Noll does that allows him to distinguish the two characters from each other, also, Warlow keeps a rich tone quality through out his ENTIRE range, while Noll seems thin as he goes higher up. I first listened to Warlow, and I just can't accept this guy after hearing him! Go for the concept album. You WON'T be disappointed!
I recently saw Jekyll and Hyde, and LOVED IT!!! I came back to find this, and was super excited. This album had multiple songs that you could think wouldn't be in here are here! I was actually dissapointed, though, that some minor songs that could have been missing were here, but then a Major song was missing. Where the heck is 'Bring On The Men'? I loved that song, and was forced to buy it through the revival cast. Although a little Empty, Fabulous album.
This is an absolutely phenomenal musical but you cannot comprehend how fantastic it truly is until you listen to the original concept recording with Anthony Warlow. In this version they cut out all the best songs and it has only half of the talent and emotion of the original. If you are interested in buying this version of Jekyll & Hyde, DON'T. Look for the original two disc concept recording online and buy THAT version. Because let's face it, if this is the version you are listening to, than you aren't listening to Jekyll & Hyde at all.
This is one of the best musicals i have ever seen and by far some of the best music ever. There is no song i don't like and the singers are fantastic!!! Linda Eder is the best!!!
Over the summer, I saw a camp preformance of this show. The kids had to work non stop, and had to stay for 6 weeks, but the play was AMAZING!!!! This album is great, but me, and everyone who say the camp preformance says that the camp preformance (highscoolers) was better!!!!!!!!
This was ok and stuff. I've seen better broadway musicals, but there are worst. I like Confrontation.
I love this... it's totally perfect for me, and for any Broadway lover. Christiane Noll totally kicks David Hasselhoff's butt, if anyone has seen the movie.
This musical is one of my favorites because i love both the plot and the stories. This album is wonderfully done, with amazing vocals from the entire cast. This is one of those albums that you can listen to again and again, and never get tired of it. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves Broadway!!!!!
And this version is missing one of my favorite songs, Bring On The Men. It also seems like this one might have a few extra songs or cutlets that are in the show but not the other soundtrack (Like Les Miz). Besides the lack of Linda Eder's incredible song, J&H is without doubt one of the best soundtracks I've heard in a while.
Where is Linda Eder Name in this she was the lead women in the show ??????????????????????????????????????????? I love the music but I can't stand when people don't write the real person who is in the show thank you very much
i do love the dark and jazzy score of this musical, but i do think that its not the best score that ive heard generally speaking. I did however use the song, "A New Life" as my audition peice for my schools musical and it did deliver. But overall a good album.
This is one of the most beautiful shows broadway has ever performed.. And this album has some of the greatest songs ever recordd.. ive listened to it onn and off for 8 years now and it dosent get old
I love this version. I really wish it had, "Bring on the Men" and "Girls of the Night", but I still think the vocals are amazing, Linda Eder, Robert Cuccioli, Christiane Noll, bravo.
:(. This is okay at best. The best is Anthony Warlow's version of this, much better singing and much better songs. Are you reading this iTunes? You need to add Jekyll and Hyde - the Complete Work. Its much better than this. If you compare this album and Jekyll and Hyde the complete work I wouldn't give this one a signle star.

I absolutely loved the Jekyll & Hyde musical, and this album captured the best moments, definitely worth buying!!
This album is definetly worth listening to, if you see the show you will understand what a wonderful story the show tells. I think that it has replaced Les Miserables in my musical affections, the music is so emotive and tells the story so accurately, the person who wrote this show must have been a genius! If you like good music and a fascinating story, this album is the right one for you!
A beautiful album filled with songs that will delight any musical theatre lover. The quality of the vocals is spectacular. And the raw emotion of the voclists makes this a beautiful collection of songs that will thrill you and make you cry. A great addition for any musical theatre collector or lover.
