I went to one of the first pre-Broadway shows in D.C. and I absolutely loved all the actors and especially the music. There was something so beautiful and emotional about all of the songs. After listening to this album, I realized that the music has changed from when I watched it, but it has all been improvements :) I highly recommend buying the soundtrack and absolutely recommend going to the show now that it's on broadway.
Words can't even say how incredible the music is and the show altogether. Unbelievable.
This musical is jampacked with so much talent its ridiculous! From my idol Idina Menzel to the amazing LaChanze and Jenn Collela, and Anthony Rapp and My fav James Snyder who knew a show could be this incredible and filled with the best voices on broadway! 5 Stars for sure! Its no coincidence that all the musicals Idina is in turn out to be huge hits!
Just saw this last night and let me tell you... This DOES NOT disappoint. Idina Menzel shows you that she's at her prime with this role that's so unique and relatable. LaChanze and Anthony Rapp do an incredible job as her friends and their voices just make this album that much more special. This is a must for any musical buff.

I saw the show about a month ago. I wished the music was available beforehand as it is great to know the music before the show. Regardless, a good show. You need to have a good attention span as this show requires the audience really engage.. Ms. Menzel was great….She was in great form
Complicated, sometimes confusing, too smart, bright, fun, heartbreaking. Absolutely perfect modern musical theater.
It doesn't matter if you're 18 or 80. Everyone, EVERYONE has had that "what if" moment, if not multiple. Everyone has thought about how different their lives might be had they just changed one little thing, no matter what age. Thinking about "what might have been" is the center of this show, which the cast lead by the fantastic Idina Menzel gives so much heart to. Fans of the Broadway star, young and old, whether having loved her since RENT or just started to since Frozen, will not be disappointed by Menzel's sheer talent and will. Her most complex story ever does not fail to deliver the high notes that only Idina Menzel seems to be able to belt out. The soundtrack alone might not make much sense due to the complexity of the plot and how visual cues from the actual physical stage help move the story along, but even out of context the songs are thrilling and relatable. If you can't make it to NYC for the show, at least listen to the soundtrack so you can be a part of this experience.
THIS IS PERFECT. There are no flaws to this soundtrack, this show, nothing. Everything about it is so memorable and realistic. The music is so unique it just sticks with you. Absolutely mesmerizing and just inspiring.
The music in this cast recording is beautiful beyond belief. Every member of this cast is just as strong as the next!! Ms. Menzel is such an idol and inspiration to me! Absolutely stunning like always!!!
I absolutely love this album! It's been on repeat for days and i can't wait to hear it live. Her voice is so captivating. I missed her on Wicked so this time i'm gonna make sure i'll be able to catch If/Then with her still on it. I'll fly 17,000 miles to see you Elphaba. I wouldn't come for anyone else Elsa. It'll be one of my happiest moment when i get to stand next to you Elizabeth.

This show and this music makes you think about everything! Would not recommend for Idina's younger "Frozen" fans, but their parents definitely should take a listen! Can not express in words how AMAZING this show is! So Godblessed to have had the oppritunity to see it onstage!

This show is beautiful. Full of emotion and laughter. Another perfect example of why we love the theatre. It finds a place in our heart. Idina and her equally talented cast do just that. The music and lyrics are beautifully written and the story really comes to life through them. Needless to say, I’m in love with yet another musical.

I traveled to see this show in NYC solely because of Anthony Rapp, James Snyder, and Idina. I first heard Snyder's beautiful vocals on the soundtrack for bare: a pop opera and wanted to see him perform live. I got to see Anthony Rapp reprising the role of Mark in Rent in Los Angeles and looked forward to seeing him perform in If/Then. Last but not least, who would pass up a chance to see Idina perform live? This OBC lived up to the live show and I haven't stopped listening to this music since it was released. Jason Tam, Jenn Colella, and LaChanze bring energy to this show and they have fantastic voices, which is captured well in this soundtrack. It's hard to pick favorites off this album, but mine are "Some Other Me", "Love While You Can", "What Would You Do?", "A Map of New York", and "Always Starting Over". I've listened to many Broadway cast recordings lately and this one deserves all the attention it's been getting and not just because Idina's in the show and her vocals are on display on this album.

I wasn't prepared for the reality of this musical. It is so powerful. No fairy tale princesses here. Real life. Idina Menzel is fabulous as well as the other cast members. I have been a Lachanze fan for a long time. BRA-VAH! If/Then you have a winner, but you already knew that!
I saw If/Then on June 7th in NYC. The show is magical! Idina is phenomenal! Every song works well with the parallel story lines. My favorite song from the show/album is "Always Starting Over" because of the emotional impact. This recording is excellent but Idina sounds even better live where you can hear the resonant depth in her beautiful voice. The actor who plays Josh has an outstanding voice and he's cute! :-) If you like Idina, you must buy this album. The entire cast is stellar which is not always the case. Each performer has an excellent voice. I highly recommend this album.
As a person who probably got interested into Menzel because of Frozen, and then looked into her Broadway career and got interested in that. I just find it funny and blowing my mind surprised to hear her sing expletives on track 7. But it's a great album when fans ask "What's next for her after Frozen?" Or "Will she be able to top 'Let It Go'?" Well, here's your answer.
Such an amazing cast album. I’m sure most people were drawn to this album by Idina and she’s great, but you shouldn’t overlook the rest of the cast whom also did a phenomenal job. Jen Colella especially stood out to me for her unique voice and effortless belt. Seriously, some of the notes she hits are crazy high. Her and LaChanze have such great chemistry and are so funny together. I was lucky enough to see them twice on Broadway and they did not disappoint. “Love While You Can” is my favorite song in the show. The two of them with Idina absolutely killed it. Then there’s James Snyder. “Hey Kid” is such a great and emotional song. James really knows how to add that personal touch that just creates that emotional connection to the audience. He is so talented and really nice in person! Lastly I want to talk about Idina. Of course she’s amazing. And she has such stamina! Song after song she’s belting her heart out and she does this 8 times a week for the show. That’s crazy! Props to her. “What the f**k” is so funny and of course “I hate you” is crazy good. It’s so real and you could just feel the emotion she’s conveying. If you don’t mind some explicit language, these are some fun songs to sing along to :D Bottom line: BUY THIS ALBUM! You won’t regret it. And if you get the chance, see it live on Broadway.

A very strong stellar ensemble cast considering that Idina Menzel is the star with more of a voice throughout than the rest... However, it is a true ensemble effort and musical production... Listening to it every day...

I saw this show on broadway last week. While I initially purchased tickets just to see Idina, I was shocked to find out Anthony Rapp from RENT was also staring in this show. I was absolutely floored by the score and performances and this recording is amazing. A song for any feeling you are having. This is a must for any broadway fan.
I love Idina and Anthony Rapp and the rest of the cast is so good too and then the music is just amazing and I LOVE this album! Really want to see the show, but I need to know if it is appropriate for a 12 year old. Obviously in the music there is some harsh language and sexual implications. Is there anything else in the book I should be wary of? Please tell me asap as I REALLY want to see the show and it closes in March!
