This is everything I needed in woke rap! I can play this from start to finish! #noskips
Real rap. Love it!!
God Box is an masterpiece!! Touches a variety it topics that stop and makes you think. Love this album!!!!!!!
Look mister David, I'm sure you're a really nice guy and all but this just isn't cool man! Nier Automata was more or less released when you put out this album and you just straight up ripped off our God Box idea. You could at least have a picture of 2B on the cover or heck even me since I'm kind of a mascot character for the Nier franchise and all. I haven't actually listened to the album though but I'm sure our music is better anyway. Also if you're gonna rip off Nier Automata then steal a better part. Don't steal the worst level in the game man! Alright that's all from me. Thanks for reading folks!
Classic Album!! Salute to David Banner 💯💪🏾
Classic!!!
I've been waiting on new music from David Banner and THIS DOES NOT DISAPPOINT. I didn't skip a single song. Magnolia pulled me in and the entire album kept my attention. I had it on repeat the first few days. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
We need more pro black albums and more pro black artists.
Dropping straight knowledge, if you are willing to listen to content instead of beats
The best that's out there
I remember the day of Public Enemy, BDP, NWA(yes they were conscious on the level of they spoke on what they and the people around them were going through) and so many more conscious artist! Hip hop was not only knowledgeable but it was dope!! The beats were hot! The lyrics made sense! The combination of them both made for dope albums!!! David Banner has brought that feeling back in an upgraded version!! This is the best album to hit mainstream listeners in at least 10 years and maybe ever!! The calculated genius of this album is phenomenal!! Touching on so much history and how it's effects have been generationally passed on allows our children to rock to great music while being taught a lesson in self worth and pride of our community!! Thank you Mr. Banner!!
This was in February? Then why they release it in may? But still good and lit
The Best Album of the Decade
Different side of David Banner. Pure 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Although the release of this album was pushed back a couple of times it was DEFINITELY WORTH THE WAIT. As usual David Banner put the right lyrics with the right beats and made every song on the album an absolute favorite! I'm seeing way to many comments about racism. This album is not in any way or shape promoting racism but he has elaborately captured in detail the state of black America today. If you felt racism in anyway you may need to look within thy self. In every single song he is feeding knowledge, consciously, and sub consciously. His lyrics, the words that are paired together so articulately show an undeniable passion and love for his culture, our culture. If any of you really did research you would understand exactly where God is coming from. This album stands amongst the greatest of all time and may one day be standing at the top alone. Thank you Mr. Banner for your heart, your strength, sharing the knowledge you have acquired thus far in your search for truth, and for having the courage to do what all these rappers out today only talk about on social media. You put it in the music! Music stimulates the whole brain and body as well. Think on that!
Shameful disrespecting Elvis,All WHITE people, and most of all the CHRISTIAN FAITH!!!! WOW!!!! He fell off for like ten years and try's to make a come back with the ILLUMINATI AGENDA for a race war! Why you diss Elvis? Nobody hated on Charley Pride or Darius Rucker!!! You got the game messed up!!!!!
David banner helped me find GOD. The God inside me. That piece of joy I'd been missing in all my Christian worshipping days. I've literally gotten younger, stronger, and happier.
From beginning to end, the God box will elevate and educate you!
I been waiting on this, & im definitely satisfied with the whole album. Production is 🔥🔥🔥, lyrics is 🔥🔥. Real music, real artist, thank you DB
Member of late ‘90s duo Crooked Lettaz (with Kamikaze) and solo artist David Banner has been quite active since 2000 though after his 2010 Death of a Pop Star collab with 9th Wonder, Banner took time off until starting what has been long coming but is finally here – The God Box, the Mississippian’s sixth LP as an individual act. To unpackage this God Box is to reveal angry rage at racism and racist policy, but with some quieter discussion points as well. Banner has crafted a collection that fluxes and ebbs on various levels musically and vocally. Banner targets societal racism yet he can sound a bit so himself using the word “cracker” to refer to whites twice or so in “Magnolia” and somewhat irrationally complaining that whites are stealing or taking rap and hip-hop from blacks in “Elvis.” Pretty ridiculous. If you’re dope, you’re dope, doesn’t matter what color your skin is. Likewise skin color just isn’t a factor in how good or bad an artist is. Moving on, we come to Banner’s women studies. He looks at what in women we are drawn to mentally and physically via “Cleopatra Jones,” how good black men should step up to claim their good black women in “Marry Me” and also the case of the fickle girl who ostensibly gets her way with everything in “Judy Blare.” Next are some tough gangster-ish notes (“Traffic on Mars”), “Black Fist”-raising, more race talk of course (“AK” and “Evil Knievil”) and some wisdom and calls to get on the clean path of life (“Wizdom Selah” and “Burning Thumbs”). Sonically and structurally speaking, God Box is a handsome statue, or silhouette, to behold so to say. By a small margin, this is the most rebellious and conscious Banner has ever attempted to be and he’s pulled it off, even if his material is mostly race focused and much more sociopolitical than socioeconomic in nature. The main problem is that David Banner has framed his issues as white versus black when really they should be framed as racism versus truth issues at the core. Still, The God Box is in depth and dynamic and explores some new hotly charged topics for the seasoned Banner and guests.
This album is great. I am loving Magnolia Tree Marry Me and Black Fist. Thank you David Banner for bringing forth a great album.
He has fell off no ma'am this is garbage
Hip hop is finally back...People was settling for that mumble rap they've been forcing down our throats. Im glad real music that has a meaning is back with this album. Salute my brother from stl
The BEST album I've heard in years!!! Hopefully this will wake up some folks!!!
Dope album from beginning to end!!
I didn't listen to the song but read itunes review. Hopefully, this dude is smarter than this. I don't know him but I'll say this. No one owns any genre of music. White people didn't take over rock and roll. Black people can still make rock music and get fame such as Howard who was in Killswitch Engage and Lajon of Sevendust. Chuck Berry and Jimi Hendrix are still legends. Black people can make country music. Anybody can make rap music. White people aren't trying to take it. Eminem has even talked about this issue and his inspirations. Elvis Presley thanked some black artists for leading the way with rock. Some people still need to grow up and stop being babies. Sharing is caring.
What Hip Hop should be and what it was originally intended to be prior to the infiltration and the opinions of other people who aint in the culture nor are they fighting for the liberation of the culture's people. Everyone wants to eat off black people, their lands, resources, creations and then participate in the oppression of black folk. They will then mimic the culture, dress and act like black folk but can't stand black folk all at the same time. This is why I feel that black folk need to isolate and separate themselves from others as much as possible in order to clear our heads and regain a sense of self. This album encapsulates this for me. This is a must listen!
His progression as an artist is skillfully displayed on #thegodbox. Refreshing to hear when all you hear is mumble rap
Great album!!! #STAYWOKE
This is what happens when you have a person that's "woke". He's trying to help his people to realize what they think of you, and what's really going on. I love this whole album.
I haven't been this excited about a rappers album since Jay-Z Blueprint. This album will SMASH the Blueprint. David is what Black people need. He is an underrated lyricist and he makes JAMMING music that uplifts his people. I already pre-ordered, will go to a record store and buy the album as well as stream nonstop on Tidal. Thank you Banner for this priceless music. This album will be a 50 on a 1-10 scale. The album is even better than I imagined!!! 100 on a 1 - 10 scale.
Straight Flames
I may be slightly biased but this album is 🔥 from the time you hit play to the very last second. Magnolia is incredible... Amy is powerful... My Uzi snaps so hard and has an incredible feature by Big K.R.I.T., Judy Blare & Traffic on Mars show a rock side that most were unaware Banner could do. Every single song is amazing!
Exactly what America needs right now!
This album!! This album is definitely EVERYTHING David Banner said it would be!!! Everything I expected and more!! My only complaint is that it isn't longer. Listening to this album definitely put me in a great headspace.. Meditation music! Best thing since Red Pill Scorpion King.. and that's still knocking in rotation!!!
Love This Album!!! Its Dope i know some ppl were mad cuz you keepted pushing it back but im glad you took the time you needed to create your art. You cant put a date on creativity its sad ppl jus dnt understand or want to anymore let alone have Real PATIENCE i suggest next time you put a album out you dnt give a date that way you can work in peace. Other than that Thank You for The Dope Music & Your Hard Work. Peace & Luv
This album is a game changer. David Banner addresses social issues in a way that rejuvenates those who work to make change. This album transcends age barriers. When my 12 y/o daughter and I both can relate to the music you have something special. Plus it feels good to hear her rapping 'Pump your black fist' from her room. Marry Me touches the soul. It is a beautiful song. I hadn't bought a rapper's album for myself in years but I'm so glad I did. You have a fan for life! Now that the album is complete I can say it was worth the wait.
Dude must be retaining water how much sodium in his blood. He's mad that there are white rappers that spit better than him
Never heard a hip hop album with so much truth like the God Box. Every song, verse and feature seems perfectly planned out. This album is the modern day It Takes A Nation of Millions To Hold Us Back with fresh sounding down south beats. The God Box is perfection!!!
Great album...message is on point beats are phenomenal!!! Great album
You don't give a bad review because a release date was pushed back. That's just dumb and suspect. This album is better than anticipated 🔥
Best album ever‼️
Worth the wait! This album dropped at the perfect time! ✊🏽⚡️
Very powerful message and the beats are awesome. The more people that hear this, the better.
Soul music is music that touches the soul. The God Box definitely qualifies as soul music. If you don't have this album, you're doing yourself a disservice. Classic album!
In my Top 3 for Albums released in 2017. Great from start to finish
Beautiful album. The lyrics, the message, the production is all God level. David Banner you have one here. Superb work.
Thought provoking lyrics over David Banner beats, it's exactly what the world needed. This body of work is complex & complete. It leaves no stone unturned and provides the listener with a one of a kind experience.
This album is complete garbage he can't even rap
This album is pure 🔥. Every time I thought I found my favorite the next track played & it was 🔥 Conscious music with jamming beats - sure to wake many people up. Thank you David Banner!!!👏🏾👏🏾
