This is horrible! Nothing like the James Bay from chaos and the calm. Don’t bother buying this album, it’s garbage.

I hope the whole album won't be like the, pretty much, cookie cutter Pink Lemonade and more like the somewhat different Wild Love. I'm all for expanding ones roots but please don't go the P.L. direction!

People fell in love with him and his music because his songs were authentic, deep, and beautiful. Not this auto tuned pop crap. Where’s the James Bay I remember?

I didn't even know who he was until I just watched SNL, and he performed Wild Love & Pink Lemonade. I immediately got on iTunes & had to find him! The songs do sound way better with a live band, but I'm anxious to hear the rest of the album!

Yes , he is trying new stuff. Respect! Let him be an artist , he will find his groove . Reminds me of when U2 made" Achtung Baby" It was very electronic and people hated on them for it , but i liked it :) It's now one of their better albums. Allow him to explore !!! Rip down the Guard walls people , if he is as good as peopel say/hope he is then he will mature into greatness. Dont fear the process.

Love what I hear so far...The voice is still great, lyrics still strong, and I'm a fan of the new sound. If you want to hear boring artists continually repeating the same sound, album after album...go listen to Sam Smith.

Although I loved his last album, it’s obvious he’s experimenting with this one but I think it’s really good so far, looking forward to the release ! Can’t wait to see this album live!

He became famous by being a singer song writer who plays actual instruments, not using a lot of auto tune & relying on electronic beats. I’m really disappointed in this & most of music in general that is coming out lately. Why does everyone have to sound like everyone else on the radio?

Stop comparing this guy to Bob Dylan. Just because he has folk tendencies doesn’t mean he’s the “new Dylan.” Their styles are still very different. If anything, Bay’s first album is reminiscent of Jeff Buckley, may he Rest In Peace. And who cares if an artist wants to shift sounds; these songs do not sound like generic pop. Stop being so ignorant.

Us is amazing. Not a huge fan of the others but if there are multiple songs with the style and sound of Us then a 5 stars here!

I was a huge fan of James’s raw, organic voice in his last album. I miss the originality and honesty of an unedited voice, and wish James kept his original sound.

Is his new sound different from the first few singles? Definitely. Do musicians and artists change? Yes. I understand where people are coming from in stating how James' new sound is very different. But musicians and artists evolve over time, and that's not a bad thing. I would rather he change up his sound and allow himself to grow as an artist and musician, rather than stay stagnant and keep producing the exact same sounding music as Chaos and the Calm. It's not healthy for an artist to stay the same, they need to evolve and develop their sound. I, for one, loving the singles and I can't freaking wait for this new album and hear this new sound.

I love James Bay and have been a fan since his first release. I want to love this album too but so far I just don't. I wish that truely good artists didn't feel the need to run all their new stuff through electronics. Please, Can't we just hear great music played by great musicians? I'm hoping the rest of the album is great!

I am a super fan of James Bay music! His music is sooo good and I love it! His music inspires me to evolve as a person and gives me so many feels and makes me want to create! I love how James Bay new influences for this album were different and thus is the reason we have these beautiful new songs and new sounds! I am so happy that James Bay is evolving as an artist and is continuing to release beautiful and amazing new songs and music! I LOVE LOVE LOVE THE ALBUMS SO FAR AND I CAN'T WAIT TO HEAR THE WHOLE ALBUM!!! I have bought every version of his new albums and I have bought them on every musical platform! I am loving it so much! Did his hands fall off? Where are the guitar riffs and authentic talent that got me hooked on the first album? Not impressed by the bait and switch.

This is so not the artist I fell in love with. He reminded me of a young John Mayer. Talented musician. I guess he wants to be a pop star. Gone is the hair, the hat and for me the talent

Rough. Super over dubbed/produced, which I wouldn’t mind had it been done successfully looking at poppier rock groups(Fitz and Tantrums, Cold War Kids) but the GREAT writing that I loved from his debut album has not carried over in the stylistic change. It sounds like the songs were written in the studio rather than from the individual.

Ok I love James Bay. However, these tracks don’t even sound like him. Where’s the rawness, soulfulness, and great songwriting that attracted me and many other fans to him in the first place? The dance track is cute and easy on the ears. It’s fun. However, all I’m thinking listening to this is “REALLY⁉️” “What IS this?” (In the voice of Derek Zoolander) Who am I listening to? His voice is autocorrected too!! Wth🤯 Who told him to change? Rawness to me is were the voice bleeds gold. Now his voice is bleeding Pink Lemonade.😟

James' first album, "Chaos and the Calm" is truly fantastic and it gave me some confidence that some good music was still being made. His sound was raw emotion and genuine arrangements with real instruments....Now this album, "Electric Light." I'm permanantly shaking my head with disbelief. James Bay should have used a pseudoname to release this so he could have realized his error and still remained 'James Bay.' The musical departure from his debut sound is so profound I can't explain how horrible it is in contrast. As a musician myself, I can understand the need to "experiment" with other sounds and styles but this is like Jimmy Hendrix releasing "Are You Experienced" then following it with an album of Partridge Family covers! The only thing I can compare this to is when Ryan Adams did a complete cover of Taylor Swif's album 1989.....IMO this was jaw-droppingly horrible. Appearenly James Bay didn't get the memo....I feel sorry for him that someday he'll have to look back on his ruined career and realize that he was a great artist that sold out to the pre-packaged pop vomit machine.

SNL performances of Pink Lemonade and Wild Love were perfectly mesmerizing. Just the right balance of his beautiful voice, buzzy guitar, and background vocals. I prefer listening to them over these recordings. Wish the SNL versions could be released with the full album purchase. Love both songs ❤️.
