Really funky and electric.

Chaos and Calm didn't have a single bad song, one brilliant track after another. Can't say the same of this album. Too much noise. Too many toys. Over produced. One good track in the bunch - Slide. A great talent that took a wrong turn.

It’s pretty good, isn’t exactly the James Bay from Chaos and the Calm, yet it still works amazingly. Pink Lemonade is extremely fun to listen to and gets stuck in your head at random times. I seriously recommend this album. Everything in the album works perfectly. I highly recommend this album

US and I Found You are my favorites so far :)

He has a good 3-4 songs that I really like in this album. (Slide- so amazingly pure, Us- only liked the acoustic version but man did I LOVE it😍, Wild love- acoustic was better but still enjoyed!) The others songs are way too overdone with the extra little add on sounds.. He has the type of voice where simple pureness is best.. he is so good he doesn’t need all that extra flare and that’s what made me fall in love with him so it’s sad to not hear him be as pure with the songs as the first album. Maybe pure isn’t the right word, maybe “simple” is better. But hey, it’s his album I suppose- and Im still a fan. So I’ll Just be over here obsessing over the 3 songs that I actually do love on this album lol (the acoustic versions of course)

The production on this album is absolutely terrible. It feels like it’s all over the place and had no semblance of rhythm with his vocals. There’s a lot of lines James sings the words in a really weird manner too. Feels really rushed, which is weird cause they’ve had 3 years. Really disappointing, Chaos is one of my favorite albums. Hope he comes out with a simplistic acoustic version of it all because wild love was pretty good when you stripped all that bs out.

If you loved his first album then this album may seriously disappoint you. Does republic records pick out his clothes for him too? Also, why does iTunes let people review an album they haven’t even listened to yet? Many of these reviews are anticipatory. How do we know the record labels are just paying people to go out there and give positive reviews.

I love James Bay. His music is so fantastic and he’s the only artist where I truly connect with his lyrics. I even have a tattoo of one of his lyrics❤️

Liked his first album and im loving this new album. Definitely has a new sound. The bit of R&B really grooved up the album for me.

There are a couple of great songs in this album. There are a couple of potential great songs in here too, unfortunately, they are disgustingly overproduced. This feels like a slight betrayal of what James became famous for. Hopefully there is time to go back for Jim.

I understand why people don’t like this, but this is a new sound. He isn’t going to stick to his last album ways. He wants to do something new and reinvent his sound differently from his last album. I love this new sound and I really liked this album!

I love this album. This is the album I’m gonna hear years from now and it’s going to remind me of this moment in time. This era of uncertainty, pain, confusion & static. The lyrics of “Us” will bring me back to now. The vocals are perfect while layering and mixing nostalgia with modern tech... brilliantly displayed on “In my head” synth-meets-gospel feeling. Tracks like “Fade Out”, “I Found You”, “Slide” are wonderfully old school RnB/soulful and Sugar High Drunk, Wasted on Each Other and Pink Lemonade more rocking-bluesy tracks that reminds me of being in high school. Wild Love is the sexy ballad anthem. From start to finish this album makes me wanna be in love. All the stages of innocence & love. I can tell you now, this album will begin and complete my summer.

I know every song on his previous albums by heart, but this album definitely takes a different path. He’s obviously talented. This album just doesn’t have the greatness that I perceived in the first two (chaos and the ep).

So supper bummed.. Dudes music was amazing. Very from the heart.. his guitar skills were on point and he was amazing live.. What happened James!? Music is dying.

I’m listening to the whole album rn! Wild Love is still one of my faves! And Us! Super sultry, rock, pop, and contemporary in one. And I love Just For Tonight. I have waited WAY to long for a new album. Lol. 💋 P.S. less auto tune maybe? In Waisted On Each Other James literally sounds like a robot. And I really miss more raw songs like Let it Go or Incomplete. More songs like Slide. How about an acoustic version of this album? 😬

I really like this album. I've been listening to it a lot for the past three days and overall, I think is a good album. Except for Wild Love (which I just can't stand) I either like or love all of the songs, however I absolutely love the acoustic version of Wild Love. That being said, I still think Chaos and the Calm is A LOT better than Electric Light, and I would love to get an acoustic version of this album.

What happened to his voice he sounds audio tuned so bad and is this music or crap 💩

Wow! The opening track of Electric Light , “Wasted On Each Other” sets the bar high for the whole album and it only gets better from there. James Bay has done it again!

Let’s put it this way, wouldn’t you be tired of playing the same music for years? If you listen to James in his interviews he talks a lot about getting inspired by music today and talks about wanting to evolve, to start a new chapter in his career. His songs in this album are different yes, but remember it’s about quality and how he expresses his message and emotion through his songs. His first album was a success and I have no doubt about his new album. All I’m saying is to give him a chance. Just because his style is different doesn’t mean it is not good. James Bay, keep inspiring and keep growing as a true musician. Love your music!!

Don’t let the new look fool you- James Bay is back and here to stay. Once you get past the new production, there is still the subtle attention to story telling in the lyrics with soaring vocals. I was just writing my favorite tracks and realized I began writing every song on the album. If I had to pick a top 5 I would have to go with I Found You, Just For Tonight, and Wanderlust, Stand Up, and Fade Out. I really appreciate the evolution of James as an artist. This album is much lighter than Chaos and the Calm. While CatC is one of the most flawless debuts ever to surface, Electric Light is an exceptionally solid sophomore album. It makes for an incredible listening experience and an even better album to pretend you’re a rock star as you sing along to it in the car. Keep rockin James!

With a voice like his these songs are completely disappointing. Most of them have no direction and just aren’t written or produced well. Such a great voice but these songs are pretty much all a hard no.

I was really hoping for some more good songwriting and I got overproduced pop music. I love James Bay and this is so disapointing. I understand experimenting, but why hang your natural talents up for image and fame and following in line with the sheep? We loved you just the way you were. I can't even listen to this.

I’ve been a follower of James since his 1st EP and was super excited to hear he was releasing a new album. I absolutely loved his previous album, The Chaos and Calm. So to hear his first single and now his new album, Electric Light, be so different I was a little disappointed. However after a few listens I’m in love with his whole new sound. As fans we should all be encouraging and accepting of James as his sound evolves just as Taylor Swifts’s fans are accepting of her sound evolving. Favorites songs include: I Found You (lost count of how many timed I’ve listened to it), Us, and Just For Tonight. Love James ❤️

Although there is a different sound to this album that James previous work, I appreciate when artist grow. I listened to this album all day on repeat!

For those who liked James Bay’s music before Electric Light, there’s a whole album for you to listen to (Chaos and the Calm). Electric Light is such a refreshing album for his fans and for him. I think it’s very important for artists to evolve instead of plateauing. There is still the original sound of James in his new album along with a new complex sound. I think Electric Light is brilliant and I applaud him for evolving his sound. After all, it’s been a few years since his first album and it would be a bit odd if he didn’t go through some kind of change and he’s still at a young age to do so. I love, appreciate, and enjoy all of Electric Light.
