I get the whole "artists venture into new territory" and "explore various different styles," etc. Still, I can't help but wonder why Mariah has deviated so far from what originally made her a superstar. She didn't get famous for this generic mess she's putting out now. Like him or hate him, Tommy knew what he was doing in guiding her career, helping pick out songs that showcased her talent, and helped pair her with arrangers that actually composed unforgettable music. Her first four to five albums had songs for which Mariah will always be remembered. Vision of Love, Someday, Anytime You Need a Friend, Emotions, Music Box, Do You Think of Me, Dreamlover, Fantasy, One Sweet Day, Can't Let Go, Hero...those are what we Mariah fans truly miss (those of us who were instant fans in 1990). There's not a memorable song on this album. It's a pity she can't do an album just to satisfy those of us in our mid-forties/early fifties, who long for the type music that made Mariah world renowned.

People fail to realize that Mariah has been in the music industry for almost 30 years now. After such a long period of time her vocals change overtime and Mariah has already proven herself, so this album is a nice change of pace - it’s different and I’m living for it! It’s a very mature Mariah that we needed. Most people will tear down Mariah for her “now vocals” but go back to listening to artist who find it hard to stay on key. Even now Mariah can STILL wipe them with the floor. Do not be mistaken, Mariah is a beast and will forever remain part of the Holy Trinity, alongside Celine Dion and Whitney Houston. If you can listen to a vibey album from Ella Mai, then this one is just as great. VERY LAID back music!

I’m a huge fan of Mariah’s and this album changes nothing for me. We all make mistakes. The first three releases from this album were strong steps in the right direction. The remainder of ‘Caution’ is aimless and uninspired, until it just becomes tedious. 😐

Such a fresh and underrated gem of an album! It accomplishes a nostalgic feel while reimagining the current landscape of R&B. Cohesive body of work that is impressive to have from an artist on her 15th studio effort, but then again Mariah is beyond ordinary and a one of a kind talent. I’ve offered this 4/5 for one reason. The short track listing do not offer much of epic proportion. They stray far from the the old Mariah but, Mariah has done here what I have been hoping she would do for years. She’s made an album that is tonally hers. Her voice is not what it was clearly because of the years she’s put in - And that’s ok. This album is for some weak, for me it’s fitting with what her capability is today, not 10 years ago. Let’s be honest, she still has a voice - not a massive one but still, anyone willing to give this a listen should understand what she’s done here. The obvious highlights are with you and a no no. Reminiscent of we belong together and touch my body. The only tracks on the album which I can see worthy of being a single. This is an album for her fans. She’s got a lot of hate from people for years, we seem to forget her legacy which is unfortunate. A short 10 track album, subtle not epic vocals but fitting and honest. It’s nice effort
