Faded by Mariah Carey Song Info
“Faded” is the second track on Mariah Carey’s 14th studio album "Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse" (2014). It is a luscious R&B song produced by Mike Will Made It and Carey’s vocals feature climaxes with the song taking influence from R&B hip-hop and pop genres. Mariah reminisces about a lover for never being by her side during their relationship. Even though she tried reaching for him many times, he went in and out of her life like it was nothing and now she is heartbroken. She sings that he is now “faded” and nothing more than just an echo and a memory. When asked by a fan on the streets why she never released the song as a single, since it’s a fan favorite track, she replied: "They wouldn’t let me." “They” was interpreted as her former label (Def Jam). There were rumours Mariah was unhappy with the lack of promotion her projects received from Def Jam. After the release of Me. I Am Mariah, she left the record company and got back to Sony.
