Joy Ride by Mariah Carey Song Info
"Joy Ride” was a track written weeks before the release of The Emancipation of Mimi. It was not originally featured on the album, but after the song “I Feel It” was deemed illegal to be released, Carey and her team threw together this track to replace it. Lyrically, the song talks about a beautiful, one-of-a-kind love that goes “round and round” and “way up high”, like a rollercoaster or “joy ride”. Mariah told AOL Music in April 2005: “'Joy Ride' is a song that almost didn’t make it on the record and I’m really glad that it did because the original track was produced by a fifteen year old named Young Genius. I think it’s really cool to be fifteen and to have done that track is pretty amazing […] It was so well done in the first place that I was happy just to mix the vocals and call it a day. It’s a ballad and they call it the baby making song of the record."
