Comedy by Bo Burnham Song Info
“Comedy” is the second track on Bo Burnham’s "Inside". The song discusses Bo’s attempt to come out of retirement and try to heal the world, which at the time was at the beginning of COVID-19, with another comedy special. As with “Sad” from his 2013 special what., it establishes a (flippant) justification for engaging in comedy when the world around Bo is so upsetting. It also touches on white privilege, similarly to How The Word Works, showing how white people think that because of their privilege, they’re the saving grace of the world and can save it because of their privilege. Similar to some celebrities and a certain Lennon song. The song has been nominated for a 2021 Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics Emmy Award.
