It's mostly incidental music, and as unique as it is, whenever I try to remember the theme music from Iron Man and POTC comes to mind instead. I love the theme! It's amazing! And I love Zimmer! But this music is not used or developed nearly enough in the film, and it seems a waste of Zimmer's talent. The score is a much more pleasant listen, however, by itself. It's mainly incidental music in the film, but on the soundtrack it's much better and more enjoyable. Still could have been better, though. And where's that cool Irish song from the film with the singing? That was my real favorite!

Such a macabre soundtrack, it makes you feel like you're in the dark gritty streets of late Victorian era London. When I saw the movie all I could think is "I have to dl this when I get home!" This review probably wont be helpful to anyone but I had to write one because I love this music so much. :)

Usually I don't review orchestral/instrumental albums, but Hans Zimmer is a genius. The music in this movie contributed greatly to the mood, and I love the whole thing. Greatness.

as a fan of 19th century england, this movie was a lot of fun, and the soundtrack only made the experience better.

Ah, Hans Zimmer has done it again! This new work that he has accomplished is not just pleasant and exciting to the ear, but it lives up to the movie! The movie was phenomenal! Everything just went great for this film.

An amazing score for a terrific movie! And for the person who said they didn't understand it because they were too young (16) and hadn't read the books, I am also 16 and have not read the books, so I suppose it's a matter of intellectual maturity. 5 stars and 2 thumbs up for such a captivating and hilarious movie :)

I like this score a lot. Very similar in sone ways to pirates of the carribean. But all in all it works great for the movie.

A great soundtrack to go with a great movie!

This album is outstanding. The music describes every part of Holmes' personality. It has its quick changes that relate to Sherlock's near-bipolar thoughts and actions. The music includes violin, comparing to holmes' Bohemian dressing style and how he constantly practices on one of his own. Zimmer keeps a theme running through all the pieces that is catchy and strikingly noticeable. From now on people who hear the tune will immediatly think of this movie. Also, this theme describes Holmes quirky personality and the events in the movie. In each song you can almost tell which part of the movie that you are supposed to be in. You can tell if there is suspense, danger, comfort, tragedy, triumph, or rage. Once I heard the song "Marital Sabotage" I knew that it was in the beginning of the movie when they are in the carriage and Sherlock is running frist into the big castle-like structure. As the music gets quiet I know that it must be the part where Holmes' is talking and coming up with a procedure to get rid of the night guard. Then, I can actually picture him scurrying down the stairs in lithely movements, not missing one, as the song culminates to its summit. Overall, because I loved the movie so much the album is a good reminder of the brotherly bonds between Watson and Holmes, the romance captured through Adler and Holmes, the tragedy of failure, and the shouts of triumph!

The movie was absolutely amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I saw it a couple of days after it came out, and didn't have very high expectations. But boy was I wrong! As the credits started rolling, my brother and I looked at eachother with excited eyes and whispered "OMG THAT WAS SO COOL!" The soundtrack added alot though, and really got you in the mood for the movie. The songs sent you to the edge of your seat in the action parts, and made you chuckle in the witty, fun parts.

Once again, Zimmer delivers a riveting score that is as brilliant as it is inventive. A must get album for anyone who enjoys good music!

I went opening day to this film and really enjoyed it! Yet the whole time the music reminded me of the theme from the TV show DEXTER!

Hans Zimmer never really disappoints with his compositions. The score for "Sherlock" stood out, regardless of how much action was going on. The song "I Never Woke Up In Handcuffs Before" is eerily similar to a song called "Asphalt Tango". Some elements of this CD reminded me of Gogol Bordello, who I might add, is worth checking out for those of you who like creative, quirky music. The only reason I'm giving just 4 stars is because there was some Irish tune played during the movie's boxing match, and it seems to be missing here.

Hans, has found an impresive source of inspiration for this movie. The use of the old piano tune in the main theme is extraordinary. In the work of Angel and Demmons i liked the music, but it still had that Batman sound, and as great as it was, it wasn't New. With Holmes, he really nails the soundtrack, I can ever argue that The movie had to get inspired by his music, instead of the other way around. 5 stars Hans!

Hans Zimmer did an excellent job making a very good tune, and then switching it up between instruments. Also, like in Angels and Demons he added some nice Violin Music. This is an excellent soundtrack, it's like a cross from Pirates of the Caribbean: at World's End, The Dark Knight, and Angels and Demons. All of the music went very well with the happenings going on in the movie. Well done!

I normally don't listen to soundtracks that the songs don't have anywords, but i changed my mind when i heard this one! I think that everyone should buy it, there's some really great music.

The Rocky Road to Dublin -- The Dubliners

When I saw the movie the score immediatly caught my attention. I enjoyed the movie even having read the books and though this is a different kind of Sherlock Holmes, the music really fit the movie. This soundtrack is a mix from the Dark Knight and Pirates of the Caribbean at Worlds End, two of my favorite movies and they go superbly together. Hans Zimmer will surely be remembered as an excellent composer.

The movie and the album complement eachother so well. The music is of course is amazing and couldn't have been created by none other than Zimmer. If your unsure about buying this album please just buy it, you will definitly not be dissapointed. And if you dont like this then its your loss.

I can not find the name of the song that played during the end credits. It was an Irish jig that was amazing! please help! this is a good soundtrack! Zimmer is for sure the new John Williams

Musically I think it's good but it went horribly with the film.

I went to watch the movie on opening night with the lady and her family. She was most excited about Jude Law; I was most excited about a badass Sherlock Holmes (and who better to play him than Robert Downey Jr.?? It's amazing how well he has done when at one point he was on the brink of destroying himself). Anyway, the music that accompanied the movie was PHENOMENAL, and I went into it not knowing that a) it was directed by Guy Ritchie and b) Hans Zimmer did the score. I wasn't surprised to see Hans's name when I went through the credits. This soundtrack is amazing by itself, but go watch the movie and see it coupled PERFECTLY into it!!

I love how this soundtrack mixes the old type of music with modern. It's somewhat nostalgic. It modernizes the old type of music. Love love love it!!!!!!!!

Hans Zimmer's work has a tendency to sound similar from score to score, but in Sherlock Holmes he has created a completely original sound indicitive of the adventure, humor, and drama we expect from such an epic story. This soundtrack is a sure winner.

i think this is hans best performance or music composition eveer! i luve itt the violin and cello solos ugh gorgeouss. it captures the sherlock world compleletyy!! the music gives it this grimmy feel with the staccato and use of the strings its just spectacular. i luve it :) gooo see thee movie its sooo good!! There are very few movies where I really enjoy the "score" so much that I will go out and buy them. This is one of those rare times where the score complements the movie so well that if it didn't have these song the atmosphere wouldn't be nearly as wonderful as it was. The music belied and carried a sense of hurried, logical, insanity that Robert Downey Jr. as Sherlock Holmes managed to carry off in such a way that I cannot imagine anyone else playing that character. This movie is one of the best that I've seen so year and the soundtrack completes it. If you enjoyed the movie than buying this soundtrack is a must. If you have yet to see it and have only heard the soundtrack. Trust me it is as awesome as the soundtrack makes it seem.

I'm a lil young to really undrstand shirlock holmes i guess 16 is still young I didn't have to read the books in school and the day after Xmas my boyfriends family and I went and saw the movie umm the younger ppl didn't understand the movie at all the people in front of ne fell asleep. I didn't fall asleep but I was about too i personaly didn't like it but like I said I'm a lil young to no bout shirlock Holmes if you like s.h then u shud c the movie I'm not saying it's bad it just didn't catch my eye ONCE AGIN I'm young 2 understand the movie. I under stood parts it probaly doesn't help I hadn't read the books.

I had no idea Hans Zimmer did the soundtrack for Sherlock Holmes until today.(I know) I absolutely adore his work,and this just makes me love him 5000 times more! This soundtrack adds to the greatness of the film. There is so much beauty in this, I'm speechless.

I finally went out and watched this film today, and I must say it was a very enjoyable, a well made film unlike most of the mainstream films that are given to the public. I'm a regular independent film watcher, but thoroughly liked this film. The accompanying soundtrack by a composer I strongly dislike, but will collect this one for my soundtrack collection. this soundtrack has the perfect blend of my favorite elements, gypsy violins, accordions, different string instruments and much suspense. As if my favorite artists contributed to this score, possibly by Voltaire, the erratic violin from Gogol Bordello, and maybe a influence of Danny Elman...obviously not, but amusing for me think about. From what I've read, this album won't be availble until the first few weeks of January-atleast in stores. I plan on hunting it down and purchasing it as well as here in the iTunes store. Another wonderful score, similar to this I will mention is Sleepy Hollow, or even Reqiuem for a Dream. I think this is a neat investment.

I couldn't believe my eyes wen i saw the movie. Sheer brilliance. Along with that music I would recommend everything having to do wit it to anyone.

This soundtrack is a new classic. Great music for driving in the car, working out, going for a a jog, or just something to keep you moving through your day. Buy the entire album. Well worth every penny you pay!

I love the variations of both time, rhythm, and instruments in this soundtrack. It makes it one of the best instrumental soundtracks I have heard in a long time. Not only does this music give an incredibly tasteful flavor to the film, but the combination of great low orchestral brass, a slightly out-of-tune upright piano, and a partially terribly played violin also adds the characteristics of Holmes, Watson, and even Irene Adler. Well done, Zimmer and Ritchie!
