Lupe Fiasco - Till I Get There

Till I Get There by Lupe Fiasco Song Info

This song is off of Lupe Fiasco’s long awaited album Lasers. This song is about his record label holding back on his album release and how they kept trying to change his image and how he felt terrible for forgetting who he is. In a 2021 tweet—ten years after Lasers—Lupe disclosed that he wanted Kid Cudi on the song’s chorus. He went on to reveal that the two were actually even in the studio together; however, Cudi intended to change the chorus and “laid what he wanted but it wasn’t the same so it kinda was a nothing burger and we just left it as is.” It would have been their first collab.

- great

yo this guy lupe fiasco never every has anything wrong to say i listen to most of his songs and i dont think he has a bad 1 at all it is prolly the best out there right now no lie hes the man

- egh

some decent songs but he's wayyyyy to liberal for me to listen to >:(

- RON PAUL 2012

Lupe Fiasco is the truth. Listen to all his lyrics hes tryingt to talk to us. Words I Never Said is the best track!

- @ 1star disappointed

There's like fifty songs out there right now that sound like dr dre an eminems I need a doctor. It's just another poppy and radio friendly formula that people have caught on to artists and listeners alike. If you read lupe's interview in XXL, he stated that 'lasers' was his interpretation/attempt of a pop album hence 'state run radio.' if you ask me, 'coming up' has the feel of an old tupac song. Either way love the album. Lupe is some of the last real hip hop around.

- Amazing

Words cant describe how amazing the song Letting Go is.

- The bestest

Best album yet from Lupe!

- words

Awsome love the truth not bs..

- lasers

ok this is small but i like all of the songs except for out of my head feat trey songz thats completely the record companys song not lupes but other than that its good... the track state run radio is with matt mahaffey not sELF and what happened to lupE.N.D.? they have the first two singles shining down and im beamin but lupE.N.D. is gone

- Another Amazing Album

I own all Lupe's CDs and I'm a big fan. And once again I'm impressed that he can switch his style on the tracks but still keep that deep lyrical swag. Good job Lupe.

- Best Album Of 2011

The Best 5 Songs From The Album Are: 1. Letting Go 2. Words I Never Said 3. The Show Goes On 4. All Black Everything 5. Never Forget You

- Bring Lupe Back!

Somebody must be hiding lupe somewhere... this clearly isn't the same ill, intelligent MC who put out Food & Liquor and The Cool.

- Way to "Dumb it Down"...

enough said.

- yesss

lupe is so amazing!! (:

- Best song eveRRR

"the show goes on"... Best song eveRRR

- Nothing new, Not entertaining.

LASERs is Lupe Fiascos 3rd album. His first two were fantastic, and critically acclaimed. This one, though, is not the normal Lupe. The songs are boring, full of pop beats and not creative. It's actually annoying, because when you buy an album like this you look for good, new rap and get a pop low quality album of trash. Sorry Lupe, coming from a rap fan who listens to all (eminem, run dmc, 2pac, lil wayne) this album is not at all worth the money.

- Atlantic records really ruined this one

The songs that Lupe obviously worked on alone are really incredible, but I think the album though good, could have been great if not for Atlantic records completely mainstreaming this album. I really don't think Lupe would have ever recorded a song with Trey Songz if Atlantic records hadn't made him do it. If they just let him take the reigns I would be buying the whole album and not select songs.

- The Show Goes On

Modest Mouse did it better. I HATE it when rap artists re make rock songs and turn them to crap. Flo Rida did it. Rianha did it. Lil Wayen did it. And now lupe did it. Stop messing with good rock songs

- lupe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

one of the only rappers that will last lupe you are amazing

- Lupe > Everyone

Album of the year!!! Every single song on this album is great! the meaning and emphasis he puts in his lyrics is unbelievably good. Excellent album!! Lupe > Everyone

- I can even tell . . .

I do not follow any artist well enough to know that there is drama/complications with thier record label. . . .that being said . . .I can tell you that some of the songs just do not sound like him. Overall. . . its a great album. I like it and I listen but the originality of Lupe has been taken away from making it less powerful.

- LASERS

Great album, along with man on the moon & recovery is one of the few albums i can listen to the whole thing (prob more but cant remember them all).

- ok

its ok the show goes on and break the chains are real hip hop but the show goes on was released as a single so not very good for the album but it is a solid album

- Lasers

This album doesn't even compare to his first two studio albums. Most of the beats are watered down and the hooks are garbage for the most part. The best song on the album, and one of the best hip-hop songs in a while, is "All Black Everything." Do yourself a favor and pass on Lasers. Purchase "The Cool" instead and hope his next album blends better.

- Great album!

This album is great! I totally disagree with the negitave reviews, cause obviously they dont know the way lupe fiasco raps! Hes deep and entertaining at the same time!

- Lupe fan#1

Another classic... N for some reason he still gets no recognition....... Tisk tisk.... I wanna her lupe and eminem on a track together

- Worth the wait

Lupe is 3 for 3 with phenominal albums in my book. Every track is something and shows hope in hip hop. Can't wait for the next one

- Great

I like Food & Liquor and The Cool better, but this isn't bad. Real Rap is finally coming back!!

- Old Lupe

Good album. But i miss the old lupe. Now he's way too mainstream

- SIKKK!!!

This album is too SIK!!..I love every song on this!!

- WHOOOO!

Just saw him at summer bash he was the only reason i went he has songs with real meanings and that is why this is the best album EVA!!!!!

- Awesome

Raw as hell

- Awesome

Wow everyone thinks there a critic nowadays, keep the reviews short you wannabes

- Awful

One of the worst albums I've heard. Anti-American lyrics. Don't waste your money with this garbage.

- Fantastic Album Except for Commercialization

Lasers is one of the best hip-hop albums I've heard in a long time. There are some real gems in there, but the album really suffers from the more mainstream tracks. Words I Never Said is a standout, as well as Beautiful Lasers (2 Ways), and a few others in there, but I am very disappointed in the way Atlantic Records tried to push themselves into this record. I would have bought the whole album if it weren't for those mainstream tracks with Trey Songz and the like. Seems like Atlantic's pressure to make it more mainstream has lost them my money.

- Ehh..

Nowhere near the lyrical and production content of F&L or The Cool. Sounds like all this mainstream crap influenced him too much. Not really a different sound for each track like his past two albums. I can only look towards F&L II: The Great American Rap Album for a sign of relief. Standout Tracks: All Black Everything Till I Get There

- Saba!!!!:)

Beast!! Great music

- Awesome

You know when you actually listen to the lyrics, all of these songs are unbelievable (except for Out of My Head. Screw Atlantic Records) If I were Lupe right now I wouldn't get into that mainstream crap. Just stick with the kind of songs that actually send a message. Lots of people will keep on listening.

- Great!!!I'm Chinese Fan

4 Years,he got us a great album!!!

- Friend of the People

Kind of a shame that people enjoy this, but did not have a single care for The Cool or Food and Liquor. You know Atlantic Records ruined a great opportunity for Lupe when you see Trey Songz on a track. You can also tell Atlantic took too much control when Lupe is auto-tuned on some songs but on Shining Down criticizes such a way of music. If you are an actual Lupe fan get Friend of the People when it's released and pick up his previous two albums.

- Buy "The Cool," instead.

Ok, I know about Lupe's deal with Atlanta Records, but none the less, this album is pure garbage. The techno beats and the meanings are just horrible. Just buy "The Eminem Show, The Cool, and Graduation," if you want better music.

- Legit

Change isnt always bad!

- This is the future

Great thoughtful lyrics Great beats and melodies Genre bending One if the best albums ever And I'm not even into hip hop normally, I'm a rocker but great music destroys categorization. This great music.

- wake up

lupe hjas made an album tht iz not what were used 2 and i aplaud him 4 tht.... plp tht dnt lik his music dnt dis it just go about ur day cuzz its not hurtin u hes speakin th truth were the futre and if were infunced bad music then theworld will b bad im not sayin tht we should cancl;e out all bad music but som iz not necary lik the cuzzin and stuff so i lik the experiment and i wish other artist not all but sum make music tht makes since hes a gud raper... keep it up..thn lupe comment plz and telll me wat u think thnx

- Amazing

I rarely give something this high a review, but this album is inspiring, uplifting, and intoxicating. It's not just good music, the words have a powerful positive meaning as well! I am so glad I got this album :)

- AWESOME

This is amazing worth the money I think he's the second rapper behind EMINEM

- I luv it 

This album is amazing especially words i never said amazing song ilupe

- disappointed.):

lupe fiasco is great but ummm...im sorry idk if its jus me and im not sayin this just because skylar grey is in it,but WORDS I NEVER SAID sounds VEERRYY similar to need a doctor by eminem and dr.dre.

- lasers

a lot of people say this album isn't as good as his last two. it's different from the last two but still really good. i am having a very hard time finding tracks by lupe that are trash or just filler tracks like many other rappers have. he's one of the most consistent rappers in the game and i think he's one of the few that is keeping the game alive with his great lyrics and beats top tracks: words i never said out of my head the show goes on beautiful lasers all black everything never forget you

- Disappointment

Has like 3 good songs n that's it

- Love

Love love Love love Love loveLove love

- amazing

this album is defenently worth every penny, its amazing 5 star

- Support Lupe

Not his best album yet.. Matter of fact, his worst album but dont blame lupe, blame atlantic. Im buying this coz I love dude and I want him to afford to go independent & bless us with food & liquor II

- WORTH THE WAIT

Absolutely BRILLIANT ONE AGAIN LUPE DOES IT AGAINNNNNNNNNNN!!! though the first two albums r class this one is great too!!!!

- Poor Chart Fodder

Don't be fooled by the praising reviews on here from casual music fans. If you're a real fan of Lupe Fiasco, this will be a HUGE dissapointment. Whilst Lupe's lyrics are still top quality, the music, production and style has moved from sheer hip hop brilliance and originality to samey poppy chart fodder. You could easily mistake this for a B.O.B album. It's not Lupe's fault, Atlantic forced these poppy hooks and productions on Lupe, this is not his own work. Check out the interview the guardian does with Lupe to confirm this. Such a dissapointment. Let's get Lupe off of Atlantic onto a new album where his creative genius is not stifled but allowed to flourish!

- Bigger and brighter

I don't wanna care Till I get there Beautiful lasers Letting go All black everything Never forget you The show goes on Words I never said So many great tracks and with the battle with the label I had to support the day it came out- join me and show the label how much of a artist lupe fiasco is

- oh dear.....

i am a HUGE Lupe fan-Food and Liquor was an amazing album, "Kick Push" still gets a daily play, your freestyle stuff is superb, "And He Gets the Girl" took my heart with your witty and clever story telling. The Cool was meh, o-k. Then recently i heard "Words i never said" and your mixtapes and during all the Album politics you seemed hungry, passionate and i was excited, eager for Lasers cause Lupe was clearly back.... but no. Argh such a let down. Seriously, whats with all the rnb/auto tune cr@p ive had enough of this now, it never was big and its still not clever: B.O.B/Kanye/any artist from the southern states, can we please have something a bit different? I hate to sound like a hip hop snob but if your a real hip hip fan this album will disappoint you, but if your all over that sugar coated mashed up, rnb hook, chart and sales driven "Ultimate RNB collection" album stuff you will love this. Bottom line: the tunes that are worth getting and are like the Lupe i became a huge fan of are: Words i Never said, All Black Everything, erm and thats kinda it. Sad.

- What the label wanted...

Half of this album is what you'd expect from Lupe, thoughtful, provoking lyrics with some good production. All Black Everything, Beautiful Lasers, Show Goes on and Out of My Head are the ones to look out for. The rest is drivel that Lupe would never release were it not for the fact his label made him. A real shame. It feels like a compromise.

- Touches my heart

The lyrics beat my brain with real Meaning lupe fiasco you inspire me to get of this council estate and make a change and shine a positive light to everyone! Thank you for your music, thank you so much!!

- Lasers!

Just copped this as soon as it turned midnight. Lasers has been delayed for so long, but I'm on track 3 and it's safe to say it was well worth the wait! Lupe is one of the most underrated rappers out there...buy this!

- Lasers rocks EVERYYY revision (y)

WHAAATT?!! RIIDICUULOUSSS! absolutely phenomenal! Cant fully describe how epic Lupe is and just how this album has single-handedly taken music up a notchhhh .. fullyy worth the wait FnF UP!!!

- Lasers

Amazing Best album yet

- Disappointing.

No fault of Lupe's. He needs to follow Chamillionaire's lead and go independent, now.

- L.A.S.E.R.S

Immense album. Lupe has turned it up a notch since the cool and food & liquor. having the likes of trey songz an John legend on the album proves that. One of the most underrated artists of are time, his lyrics are simply genius.

- Lasers

Sorry to be the only one going in the opposite direction but Lasers is nowhere near as good at The Cool. It feels a little rushed and slapdash I would have of thought with all that time off he would have progressed rather than regressed.

- F and F

Lupe, on high what a great album, waiting for it was tuff but now its here and it will be in my ears for a long time....

- It just aint right!!!

As a Lupe fan from the start I have to say whilst it's still better then your normal Rap release it just doesn't feel like a Lupe album. Whilst Lupe still brings it with his lyrics (Greatest mainstream rapper alive?) and the album does have some stand out tracks but: Atlanta forced him to make Rap Pop and blend in with the rest , screw Atlanta for forcing him not to be the brand that the fans trust. Bring Back LUPE F n F up!!!!

- Amazing! Much love lupe!

I love lupe fiasco music always have always will. I just hope lupE.N.D is on it's way now because that sounded sweet. This album did not have the same impact on me as food and liquor or the cool album but this album is growing on me

- Inspirational!

Yes.. it isn't as good as F&L and The Cool, but for the fact that he was essentially forced to work with these beats, Fiasco has done it amazingly! Lyrics and messages in every tune is out of the top draw. Food & Liquor 2 will be the greatest album ever made! It took me a few run throughs to adjust but now I'm officially a lover of the album! :D Loved Lupe from the first time I heard Daydreamin..

- Best

Album of the year

- Different

Different in terms of Lupes normal style, But the lyricism and deep content is still there, so for any Lupe fan its still a must have.

- Inspirational, Genious

This album adds to lupe string of 3 great albums in a row, the album may not be just as great as The Cool & Food & Liquor, but is defonetly not far behind, Every track is great and inspirational, Even though he had big problems with the record label, he has fought back and produces this magnificent album, Buy it for sure !

- Wow

His best album yet

- Support The Artist

This album is great, just great. Some wicked lyrics, and true

- Inspirational

Great album dont believe u can compare it to the other two albums cause there are completely different but the album would be so much better without trey songs.

- Amazing.

A classic

- Lasers

A bit to many songs focused on the hook but lyrically lupe is amazing and it's much better than 90% of the stuff out there so I you buy any album this year make it this one

- Lyrically Amazing.

I would like to say the first time I ever heard a Lupe Track I went and downloaded everyone possible track I could, he is lyrically first class, yeah this album is 'Pop' or whatever, but so what? its great! I sat and listened to the WHOLE album, and thought, WOW, I didnt skip a track early, I wanted to listen to every lyric, Lupes real fans will accept it, Lupe will get new fans due to the nature of the music industry and Pop sells! Lupe said himself 'I hate Lasers, When I look at it I don't see the songs, I see the fight' How many artists would say that as soon as its released? He could have bigged it up, made it sound like this was the best album he made, but he is honest, and I fully respect that, yeah fingers crossed he does his OWN thing next time, but I for one, give this 5 stars as I think it is one of the best albums I have personally purchased. Bravo Lupe

- Where did it all go so wrong

Another case of a real lyracist bringing out a club friendly album that will dissapoint every deep hip hop fan and make the people who just listen to whatevers in the chart say he's the best rapper. I knew it could never top food and liquor or the cool but this hurts my ears. I don't know if hip hop's dead but at this rate nas will be right.

- Epic

I got hi and listened 2 it 2 times in a row and it blew me the hell away !! I was never a fan but I will b a life long 1 now !! Buy it !!

- a great album considering

Lupe had such limited control of this album and in his own words he hates the songs, most controlled and produced totally by Atlantic Records but you can still hear his superb flow and poetic ability throughout despite the music being weaker - the lyrics are just as strong. He needs everyones support on this as someone else said so he can get back to producing and controlling his albums and music himself and we will see the best music and lyrics return.

- Dissapointing...

There is no doubt that Lupe is an extremely talented individual but honestly this is nowhere near his potential or even his earlier (and downright much better) efforts.... If you love a bit of chart music then I'm sure this'll satisfy people's low expecatations.. If on the other hand you were a prior fan of Lupe, I'm sorry to say this doesn't cut it. Gutting.

- Lasers....

Let me precede by saying that I love Lupe and pretty much everything he does. This is a good album by regular standards, by Lupe standards it's slightly below par. Don't expect anything like the soulful Food and Liquor, expect catchy hooks. However, it must be said, lyrically, Lupe is in a league of his own, there is some genuine profound poetry on the album. My favourites include The Show Goes On, Shining Down and Words I Never Said. Not his best, but certainly worth owning!

- Lupe keep it up

This is my first lupe album iv brought iv got his singles and other songs I like and to be quite honest it's a good album but not as good as his others
