People are saying that this album sounds like just a bunch of Rihanna songs, this is incorrect, Rihanna sounds like a bunch of SIA songs. Sia set the precedent for the modern pop song. This album is amazing.

Okay, don't get me wrong I love Sia and her work but I did not know how to feel when she took off The Weeknd on Elastic Heart. after hearing this version of Elastic Heart it felt like it was missing something, and that something was The Weeknd. In my opinion he was the glue that held the song together, made it beautiful, I mean, I don't HATE this version I just believe that it was incomplete. But, over all this album is perfect._

Ever hear the expression "A Good Artist Never Dies"? Well this is one of them artists. Sia is a legend and honestly, excerpt how my art teacher in middle school introduced me to Fleetwood Mac in my teenage years, I hope to introduce Sia to my own [possibly] future kids/later generations. She isn't just talented, she's worked her butt off to get this good. This album represents the real deal in her life, from the deepest corners of her heart and the furthest un-wandered parts of her mind to create what I would presume one of THE greatest albums of the 21st century. Sia Kate Isobelle Furler also knows as "Sia" is an Australian singer and a songwriter. A women who has a powerful and remarkable voice. Her album "1000 Forms of Fear" is astonishing. Her voice sends chills down my spine. Personal favorite song of her is "Eye of the needle", that song is ridiculously amazing, especially when her voice crack, that was surprisingly fitting on the song, instead of unseemingly not. She is a personal favorite singer of mine, and I recommend this album to people who haven't bought it yet. I mean, this album will send chills down your spine, trust me, it will.

Albums with great songs… you have to continue to buy the music. You will get to stream all the songs you don’t care about. Good job apple. What a pain to be on my road trip and all of a sudden a song i want to hear is no longer available and you want me to pay for it. Looks like its time to go back to downloading music and canceling my subscription. I tried to keep it. Seemed like a good idea. the 1% of subscribers staying with the program is getting smaller. Just a note the Album gets 5 stars.

Absolutely wonderful album with beautiful songs and some of my favorites of all time. Sia is an extremely talented artist and I'm just in love with her music. Her lyrics are just brilliant and emotions she puts into every song are just undescribable. She is definitely one of the best songwriters. 100/10.

A friend of mine told me about Sia and I've been in love since. From Chandelier to Dressed In Black. Her voice is second to none. Her vocals are amazing! Perfect sound and pitch on all songs. I've recommended a few friends and they're also in love.

This might not be Sia’s best album, but at least it conquered the mainstream audience. « Chandelier » is a stunning song with an amazing high-pitched chorus an iconic music video. The « Elastic Heart » solo re-work is also one of the album’s greatest moments. The other great songs in the album are « Free the Animal », « Fire Meet Gasoline » and the great album closer « Dressed in Black ». The only problem of this animal is that it’s a bit repetitive. But Sia didn’t finish surprising us and her career is far from being over.

This has to be my favorite album of all time!

Sia has an amazing voice but without lyrics it's hard to understand what she is saying without putting your ear directly to the speaker. You probably don't know you already love Sia. She's written half of the songs on Top 40 radio for the likes of Christina Aguilera, Celine Dion and Rhianna. I was personally a little disappointed with We Are Born after the epic release of Some People Have Real Problems but this album does not disappoint. This girl is unstoppable.

In the four years behind the scenes working as the golden songwriter doctor for every pop star and their mother, the girl with pipes made of iron has come out with her first record since 2010’s shiny and bouncy “We Are Born”. While this record is even more of a step towards pop, Sia never sacrifices her own unique idiosyncrasies and soul. Unlike the myriad of songs she’s penned for top 40 artists, she keeps the most personal and meaningful material for herself, and the connectedness between the words and her delivery is far stronger than those adopting her material. Every run, belt, shake, crack, and breath in Sia’s distinctive voice is both beautifully powerful and emotive. While being pop music, thematically and lyrically “1000 Forms Of Fear” takes on a darker character than the work she’s done for other artists, mainly focusing on self-destruction, and self-destructive relationships. Common motifs of knives, fire, gasoline, and crying run rampant over anthemic soaring power ballads. Lead single “Chandelier” sings of partying and binge drinking for social fun, but with careful listening unravels a dark tale of anxiety and the “demoralization of alcohol”. Sia compares relationships to being set on fire or stabbed (Fire Meet Gasoline, Straight For The Knife), being held “Hostage”, and stretched to point of break (Elastic Heart). Even the upbeat tracks have a darkness behind them, like “Burn The Pages” where she borrows a lyric from her “Some People Have Real Problems”(2008) song “Lullaby” and sings of placing her “past in a book” to then “burn the pages, let ‘em cook”. Or “Free The Animal” in which Sia screams to be decapitatedand emancipated. “Fair Game” is an obvious standout, and my personal favourite track. Singing atop subtle swinging strings, eventually leading to an instrumental interlude of toy piano and xylophone, Sia contemplates a need for personal change in order to benefit future relationships. At the end the last two songs can drag on, even though I catch “Cellophane” stuck in my head constantly. Overall Sia has made one of her most consistent, and accessibly pop ready albums yet, all the while without compromising what makes her unique and inimitable. This one is for the big time.

This album is so good, it couldn't be better!

I had such high expectations of the album, but sadly I was disappointed. I loved the early releases, Chandlier and Big Girls Cry. Both outstanding tracks. And the video for Chandlier is definitely one you soon won't forget. However other tracks on the sounded like she did record them with cellphane over her mouth. Or that you wished you were a trapped animal that could be freed from these horrendous vocals. This will teach me to never buy blindly again (pre-order).

Each of Sia's songs are so completely different, and each one so relatable, be it yourself, a family member, friend, a friend if a friend, etc... Her music really puts you in the shoes of the "narrator". Five stars hands down. Amazing.

These two songs released already both have so much raw emotion, which is both inspiring and paralyzing to me at the same time. I find that they can be good songs for joyful times just as well as troubling ones.

I'm really enjoying this album. Sia is a wonderful singer. She has a beautiful voice and she's a great song writer.

My low rating is NOT due to the songs. I enjoy the songs. I love Sia. No, my low rating is due to the absolutely horrible technical quality of this iTunes release. Now, I do not know if the CD, vinyl, or other streaming/download versions also all suffer from the complete lack of any dynamics what-so-ever and what seems to be intentional clipping and distortion in the sound. But I can tell you for certain that this iTunes release suffers so badly in these technical ways that it robs the music of all enjoyment. The worst part is the clipping. Much of it seems to be intentional. It's a fairly common (and horrible) practice these days to actually push the signal levels above 0 dBFS on purpose so as to make the music sound "louder" while not actually having any real dynamics or headroom. It seems as thought that is the case with this album, in which case, shame on the producers. But whenever audio is compressed to lower, lossy bitrates - such as iTunes 256 kbps AAC format - there is also the potential for additional clipping to happen to the signal. Such errors would not be present on the high resolution release or even on the CD. So I'm rather curious to hear those versions of this album to see if the clipping is still present. I suspect the clipping will still be there, but perhaps to a lesser degree as it might have easily been exaggerated further by the conversion to 256 kbps AAC. In any case, this iTunes release is a sad example of good music being ruined by ridiculous and unnecessary technical choices. The distortion and clipping are egregious, and that is the reason for my low rating. - Rob H.
