Didn't think this was the 'Ol Chaka'. Her voice isn't strong like in used to be and being this her profession she should have taken better care. She seems to yell instead of sing and sometimes I felt the music was only at the loud bassy sound to drown her out. Sorry Chaka, I love you girl, but this didn't do it for me.

Chaka is the funkiest person working in music today! Her voice is delightfully bizarre and the songs are really strong. The best ones are "Foolish Fool" , "Castle Made of Sand", and "Disrespectful". Oh and I think many fans of Chaka would also enjoy Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, so check them out!

Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, unlike Prince, really know what to do with Chaka. They've brought out all the gorgeous, unique qualities of her voice and singing style with unfailing devotion. I mean, they were MEANT to work together. It's been a long, long time since Chaka has put out an album this good.

I grew up on Rufus and Chaka Khan and loved their music from back in the day.I think the last Chaka album I got was Destiny...the I just lost interest till now......Chaka sounds amazing,production is top notch and its a funky good album...love the rework on "packed my bags/you got the love"..saw her on Letterman and she sounded great.This is one of those CDs that you have to play all the way through,its that good.

Thank you Ms. Khan... this album is beautiful, brilliant, incredible, wonderful!!! She holds her own on every track; the remakes sound brand new; it's the perfect fusion of funk and soul!!! Favorites: Angel, Will You Love Me?, You Belong to Me, and Disrespectful... but the album can be run through completely, without the need to skip a song. This album is easily one of my top five favorite releases this year!!!!!

My queen has finally returned for a new voyage. Funk This takes over and off where Ephiphany: Greatest Hits new cuts at the time, some of Chaka's best, were grossly overlooked like Miss the Water, Every Little Thing, Everywhere, and Somethin Deep. Now we have Hail To The Wrong, Ladie's Man, You Belong To Me, Superlife, Disrespectful, Angel, and Sign O!!! Thanks Jimmy and Terry! Thanks Sony for believing in the funk of Chaka! Let's make it 9 Grammys Chaka!

The Best R&B CD of 2007 hands down! Go Chaka Khan...

This album is very refreshing, blending old and new stlyes! Glad Chaka is still making music because we need her!!!! Check out "One For All Time" and "Angel". The melodies and harmony styling in the vocals will give you a cavity! You won't be disappointed if you like Chaka and REAL R&B!

Truth be told, the last Chaka Khan album I bought was EPIPHANY because of all of the different styles of music which was on it. So I got excited about FUNK THIS! once it came out... and I tell you I am not disappointed in it. The vocals, the arrangements, the duets - I love every minute of this CD. Her blistering cover of "Sign 'o' the Times" is one of my favorite covers PERIOD. I hope the Grammy folks don't overlook her come nomination time.

This work is awesome. It edges out Naughty and I Feel For You as her best work in my opinion. This is a can't miss if love you great music. Michael, Chaka, Ella, Aretha, Whitney & Luther.... The greatest vocalist of our time. I'll mention Phillip Bailey and Teena Marie as Honorable Mentions. Let's enjoy those that remain of these great artist while we can. Their like will never come again.

She's been heavy rotation for years in my household. She couldn't have come out with anything better. Chaka's voice has always been so amazing! It's so sultry, inspiring and most of all moving... Love ya CHAKA...

Chaka fans should not miss this CD. It's got all the funk a sister could ask for. Great musicianship, fresh production, incredible energy, like someone reborn.

This album is defitinetly worth having if you're a fan of good music, or just music in general. Chaka's pipes haven't diminished, her lower register has become fuller, and still sexy as ever. She can still bring tears to my eyes in the middle and upper registers, and touch me in a way few vocalists can. Is there anything she can't sing? If you don't find anything you like on this album, maybe a bit of therapy is in order How come hardly anyone mentioned the baddest tune on the album:"Will you love me"?

There are no words to describe how freakin' amazing this CD is. NO one does it like Chaka! The Prince and Joni Mitchell covers are genious. The duet with Mary J. Blige is ferocious. The new material only underscores that Chaka is one of a kind. None of those other 'divas' can touch this.

When Chaka said those words on 1982's self-titled 'Chaka Khan', those words have never meant move then than they do on 'Funk This' Chaka hits all the right notes, giving people something to look forward to on the next song. All I have to say is this: Peace, Love, and FUNK THIS!

I love this album/cd/project or what ever you want to call it. It's so refreshing to hear REAL music. Music that I can relate to, understand and listen to with my child.

now ofcourse since i was raised up nowhere 70s r&b, and more around 80s and 90s r&b..i must say that chaka khan did HER THING! i cant believe how fluid she made each track where it reaches out to fans that have grown with her and fans that are new to her (such as myself). and the guitarist in some of the tracks is SICK! my top songs: 1. back in the day 2. one for all time 3. angel 4. disrespectful 5. will you love me? 6. hail to wrong go chaka!!

This album is soooo bananas! What can I say that hasnt been said. She is a rock star. Song to song is flawless. ESPECIALLY Joni Mitchells "Ladies Man". The Breakdown at the end is so funky! OMG! I love this woman. Every since I heard her sing "At Midnight My Love Will Lift You Up" and "Smokin Room". THE QUEEN OF EVERYTHING IS IN THE HOUSE! Yea she funky, but we all know she can sing Jazz, Rock, Soul, Pop, Classical, Gospel, Hip-Hop and even Electronica (check out Herbie Hancocks "Future 2 Future") and she makes every single genre HERS. I love it. Rock out Chaka. My girl!

After watching UNCF's tribute to Chaka Khan, I was exposed to Superlife and Will You Love Me. I instantly downloaded this album and I absolutely LOVE IT. This is Chaka in her true Funk Essence. Good Job to Jam and Lewis for bringing out the best of Chaka once again. Any fan of the Queen should own this cd. You will not be disappointed.

CHAKA!!! You have done it again! I am glad you came out with this CD. It is about time REAL MUSIC IS OUT ONCE AGAIN! The weather was beautiful, had a few friends over, and "FUNK THIS" is on my ipod blaring from my speakers while cooking on the grille. When SIGN 'O' THE TIMES started playing we went crazy....Need I say more! Just tryin' to paint a picture….All I can say is that I love the whole CD, but my favorites are: Foolish Fool, You belong to Me, Back in The Day, One for All Times (YEAH), Disrespectful (YEAH BABY), Angel (YEAH, YEAH BABY) and Sign 'O' the Times (OH YEAH)!!! BUY THE CD! YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!!

Chaka is a gem, and this album worth every penny. Great grooves, melodies and Chaka doing that thing that only she can do over the top of it all. Awesome.

I do love Chaka Khan's music and even though I haven't heard this cd yet, I've heard a lot of good things about it and I eventually will hear it one day. However, I'm a little sad that the song "Let Go" is not on iTunes because that's the one I really love. If there possibly was some way for iTunes to release this song, I'd much appreciate it. In the meantime, keep up the excellent work Chaka! You rock ^_^

Anyone out there who is in search of a TRUE talent with an album produced by two all stars should buy this now. Chaka, Terry and Jimmy?! Cmon now...how could you go wrong?! All the tracks are great...and welcome back Chaka, I hope a Grammy is in your future...music has taken a nasty turn and it takes something like this to wake the world up.

Great album and song writing

I love this CD! I love Chaka! She can teach a few things to some of these so called R&B singers of today...

SO much to say about this record but not enough words. Wonderful, outstanding, beautiful. Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis did what they were supposed to do. They brought Chaka Back with a bang. Her sound was not compromised at all. Chaka Performed like she never left the scene. Its a must have.

Not since she took The San Francisco Symphony building DOWN during a guest appearance in support of Classikhan have I been so moved to sit and grind out some dance moves, ya hear? Yeah, I said SIT, because I had to wait to burn it to put it in a bigger system with speakers so I could throw some moves out from not back in the day, but back in the morning, yeahhhhhhhhhhhhh. LONG AND OVERDUE. EVERY TRACK SUPERB. THE NEW GENERATION WILL TRULY DELIGHT IN LISTENING TO THE QUEEN OF FUNK. CHAKA SINGS LIKE MILES PLAYS AWESOME. THIS CD PROVES CHAKA CAN SING IN ANYTHING, ANY GENRE WITH FLARE AND FLAVOR. I LOVE IT.

‘Angel’ is one of the those songs that is both grounding and freeing. The message is bittersweet, but when Chaka peels out with her amazing vocal wails that she’s famous for, you can’t help but let go yourself. At that point, the song becomes feeling than music. Admittedly, I grew up with Rufus & Chaka in the late 70s, and am so happy she’s made another great ballad; ‘Angel’ is right on up there with ‘Hollywood’ and ‘Stay’. Actually, I’m more than happy; I’m grateful. Thank you Chaka. I forgot what that felt like.

WOW! I must say that after 30 years of belting out the hits! Miz Chaka you rock my world. All the years of ups and downs YOU are one of the greatest voices of the 20th century. Thank You!! One day you open your wings and one day you will fly!

She is one of the greatest voices earthlings will ever know. Love her rock-soul vibe, which is heard back in the 70s on her Rufus work especially and trippiest thing is she sounds just as good today. Castles makes me feel like Jimi woud too, sound just as great as he did back then....but I digress...Chaka rocks and I buying this.
