- Solid Farina "departure"

I am big fan of Mark Farina since buying Mushroom Jazz Vol. 4. Since then my collection has grown to several days worth of his material. I hesitated to purchase this record because it seemed to be something a bit different for him and sure enough, it is. Less evident are the normal hip-hop and jazz influences and the normal continuity of his mixes. On the other hand, taken for what it is, this is nothing short of a 4-star record. A bit more of "standard fare" house vibe but still with Farina's musical sensibility indelibly etched into the tracks. If anything I think some of the start and finish of the record feels less inspired than usual. But this record is still a success, and props to MF for trying something different.

This album has so many great tracks. I love "Dream Machine" and "Dropped Into Water". It starts out a little slow, but as soon as you hit track 4, you will dance all the way through track 15, and then it ends with some cool funky beats.

tons of SF parties but its a toss up between Wicked and Mark Farina parties. Mark Farina is the baddest dj in the world and in SF, nobody does it better. Can't begin to count how many times he rocked the party with the baddest djs like Doc Martin, Derrick Carter, Migul Migs, Wicked Crew, Heather, John Howard, Diz & IZ, Stompy Crew, San Francisco the good old days! Hope he plays until he's 60 years old along with the rest here!
