This is a album I highly recommend. Mike shows that he is ticked off about all the lies about him. It's brilliant and this is a very underrated album. I'd rank this as his third best album(1. Invincible 2. Thriller). A truly timeless album! Better than Thriller and Bad, in my opinion, and on par with Dangerous. Highlights include Stranger in Moscow, They Don’t Care About Us, You Are Not Alone, and This Time Around, and 2 Bad—the latter is highly underrated. Buy this album whether you are new to Michael Jackson music (which is a surprise) or you are already a fan and are getting tired of his earlier music.

HIStory: Past, Present and Future is perhaps one of the finest albums out there. This is one of Michael Jacksons most mature and solid albums in his entire career. It is sad that Michael Jackson and his label didn't think the second disc would do well as a stand alone album because it holds some of the most treasured pieces of art in his career. From "Stranger in Moscow" and "Earth Song" to "Childhood" and "Smile", HIStory perfectly presents Michael's most personal struggles in an absolutely beautiful execution. Not only is this one of his most involved albums, but up there with one of his best.

OK. I think we need to get a few things straight when it comes to this particular album. I see that there are people who don’t understand the word synthesizers. For instants, take the track in titled scream featuring Janet Jackson. A reviewer says that there is a cricket in the background. No there isn’t. What you hear is some police sirens in the background along with a scream, breaking glass, and glass along with the snare timed correctly to the rhythm. You also hear thank you for letting me be myself being sampled. If anyone remembers the album rhythm nation by Janet Jackson, she sampled that exact song back in 1989. If you don’t believe me, look in the liner notes. Now keep in mind, I am a blind musician and I recognize samples when I hear them once or twice. I might not get the sample right away, but I can pretty much make a guess. The song they don’t care about us was re-recorded after Michael came under fire for lyrics that were deemed inappropriate for listeners who were Jewish. When the Jewish community protested, Michael tried to defend those lyrics by saying he did not mean to be racist in anyway shape or form. He was talking about everyone blacks, whites, everybody. But there was such an outcry, that Michael had to go back into the studio and edit certain lyrics out. Lyrics I will not repeat in this review. If you want to know what those lyrics are, look them up on the Internet. I had a girlfriend originally buy me the double cassette back in 1995. I still have my copy on CD to this day and it’s the year 2019. Sadly, I don’t remember when I bought the CD. But I will say this. If you go and buy the CD again, you will get the edited version of they don’t care about us. They do not make the CD with the uncensored version of they don’t care about us. Keep that in mind.

For 38 years.The late and great Jeff Porcaro lent his drumming talent. Not just to the band Toto. But also to Steely Dan Boz Scaggs and hundreds and thousands of other artists that needed his unique and own personal groove. Very soon it will be 26 years since his tragic death. He is without a doubt the best drummer of all time and truly missed and loved by all that worked with him. He leaves a lasting legacy that will never go away. And will always remain the number one drummer who appears every night in my dreams playing drums on my heartstrings forever and ever. I love him and will never stop thinking about him. Scream has the F word, and This Time Around has the N word and the S word. I'm sure those 2 songs are surely explicit if it has those words. Other than that, fantastic music!

Also to the people who are having problems with there purchased stuff here’s what to do First check you’re purchased stuff in iTunes click the all button and not on this advice button a few times Then after check the music app and then check iTunes again, it should say purchased after that. I had that problem with the Michael Jackson songs/albums I purchased about 6 or 7 years ago, I had bought the entire history album and 3 songs from the essentials album. So yeah checking the stuff on iTunes and the music app worked for me so I guess try it and see if it works for you.

Ignore the first disc of greatest hits, the magic happens on the second - the new material. Possibly the last time he released a truly great album that pushed the boundaries of his art, HIStory was packed with hits. Not as strong as Thriller or Bad, the ballads on this album opened the door for his weaker work on albums such as Invincible, but here they are heartfelt and direct. A brilliant album that every fan should own!

Not my favourite album of his, at the time I was disappointed a lot but now I think that it's pretty good, and much better than the Invincible album which I think is terribly bad compared to his previous work. But my favourite tracks are definitely you are not alone, Tabloid Junkie and Scream, I hate Smile, DS and Little Susie But the album itself I'd rate disc 2: 7/10, And disc 1: 10/10 by far

okay SO this is michael’s best album, with all this recent talk about the leav*ng neverl*nd moccumentary it is really important to know that he is innocent. i can’t compose it all in this review BUT there is plenty of information out there to prove his innocence, (check twitter especially). a cover up for harvey weinstein. he was WOKE in this album no doubt and PLEASE listen to money, the most relevant song to this day.
Other singers should take notes, because this is REAL music. I miss this music 💜

This is Michaels most personal album. Most of the songs tell of his personal struggles. The arrangement of the songs is beyond amazing, especially songs like Stranger in Moscow and Childhood. The album has the classic Michael Jackson sound also. The journey from Fast paced angry sounds flows into poetic and meaningful then finally to thought provoking and heartfelt. This album has got it all.
This album provides a valuable insight in to how MichaelJackson felt regarding the turbulent year of 1993.Incredibly heart felt songs which, one has to say could only have been borne out from a man WRONGLY accused. The album stands alone in his collection as the most personal of his work. Some amazingly tracks including Tabloid Junky, DS, Money and the amazing They Don’t Care. Great album and all to often overlook.
No one will ever replace this un-earthly genius.
While it may not have been a good idea to bury new material under a greatest hits album, I'm glad that it's more than that. This is where Jackson shows just how diverse and creative he is as an artist. He shows that he's able to create a palette of emotions, from the violent and harsh one in songs like "This Time Around", "They Don't Care About Us" or "D.S" to the lonely, detached and depressing atmosphere of "Childhood" and "Little Susie". He also manages to do what he does best and writes a few hit singles such as "Scream", "Earth Song" and "You Are Not Alone" while still keeping a strong message in each of them. This album also happens to be a personal favourite of mine mainly because of the timeless old hits and the new emotional bombshell of the second disc.
