Hands down the best I have ever heard. The price for all of these tracks is great. The mixes are tight, uptempo, contemplative, and fresh. This will have you laughing and crying before the last song stops. Truly a trance masterpiece.
The big trance head yo - Amazing return
Let me first off say that I own and have listened to all the asot compilations, and was very excited every year rolled around. ASOT 06 is flat out brilliant, and has by far the best "on the beach" cd feel, and dont even get me started on the incredible and very trancy in the club. 2007 came by and had a good (sorry but I think its a bit overrated) on the beach, while the in the club was a big surprise because it sounded so much like some of his hardhitting live sounds. It was lacking that real euphoria, and become more of a club classic to bang rather than an amazing trance mix. 2008 came around and was and still is my favorite ASOT, the on the beach is very on point with is very beach like view (although still not up to 06's OTB), and was a great mix all around. Now the in the club was what captured me and still to this day (and ive tons and tons of mixes) is one of my top picks as one of my favorite mixes. I thought it was great all around, creating that trance euphoria but still sounding like the armin we see on stage. I was honestly in doubt with how on earth he was going to top it. 2009 and 2010 were both in my opinion complete generic, with songs being placed just for the sake of it, and not because it would go great in the mix. Armin to me lost what a mix really is: something beautiful that can be played all the way through and almost tells a story, without getting the listener tired (see....just about any above and beyond anjunabeats besides 8 for an example....) It felt like a bunch of tracks just put together. The on the beach on 09, although having some great songs, had an overabundance of vocals, while 10's had a lack and was just straight boring... Both in the clubs were a mess save a few great songs, but the mixing was so lackluster, so on the fly, that sounded like something mixed on an auto mix. Well thankfully armin has finally returned with asot 11, because it is not only amazing, but such a return. The on the beach is so beautiful, ending with the very intense "rebound", but fitting as an ending. Disc 2 is just straight brilliant in my opinion. From the absolutely EPIC intro, to the incredible "talk to me" and "aether", every track feels as if it is supposed to come after the next, something that 09 and 10 were lacking, espiecially in the mixing department. "We control the sunlight" by ali and fila is absolutely beautiful, and armins remix of "Use somebody" I think works as a great closer. The mix feels more right everytime I listen to it, and his transitions are seconds within, not like the very generic, boring, lifeless on the fly mixing of 09 and 10. Overrall, I say armin is back. If you have seen armin live, you know he rocks it live, but his compilations are very important, and I absolutely love this mix. Btw I am giving this 4/5 only because Itunes only has the EDITS, so you have to listen to the continous mix just to hear armin mix. This is unnacceptable, and I advise everyone to get the actual cd, as it is actually MIXED and I am able to change tracks. Its great being able to do that. Also: Itunes is missing the Alex MORPH remix of "take a moment". Im sorry, but what the hell? Even though I find the track a bit lacking compared to some of mr MORPHS amazing remixes (sun in the winter, shivers anyone??) 9/10 mix overrall. THank you Armin for returning with such a great surprising mix. I was honestly not expecting much after the bland 09 and 10 but this changed that. HIGHLY recommended (but get the actual CD!)

While I think this album is way better than 2010 some of these songs I already had I was expecting new material like in the other albums but still worth it love the mix!!!!

Maybe my expectation is too high, but I honestly think this isn't his best work. Many of his ASOT radio episodes are better than this one and this CD is supposed to be a once-a-year deal, it has all the reasons to stand out above the others, but it didn't. If you count all the ASOTs since 2004 onward, this has to be somewhere in the bottom, comparatively speaking. But hey, it's Armin which means I still enjoyed the roughly two and a half hours!

Now AVB is good at what he does and some of these songs are well made but i think the era of trance is done went as far as it could go and transformed into dubstep, trance IMO has gotten way to stale after tiestos latest. Dubstep is where its at now i hope AVB gets on board.

Amazin album! I truly recommend ASOT 2011. I have all ASOT from 2004 and this recent one will sure not disappoint. It starts of with good enegry and continues throughout the CD. A definite buy! AVB u rock!!!! Cant wait to see you again, come to NOR*CAL!

I love it, every song of it. it is beyond incredible just like the 2010 asot. Hopefully Armin will stay the way he is.. trance is my wonderful companion and anyone who loves/appreciates AVB, or trance in overall will buy this album simply because it has incredible tunes and is bound to shoot you to the stars and above even on the first listen. great compilation and i am sured to blast this music all the time during the summer so thank you armin.. Love it.. I am glad armin is not going in the dub-step/electro genre. if trance dies, many of the trance lovers will die. he is still on top because he is loyal to his fans and knows what to give them. any true AVB fan will know that.

I wish we could give half stars cuz of all asots my fav is 2008 then 09 and 2010 were all better but this came out early before all the massive hits this year. Which is why I'm so poed ATM cuz I can't find a single yearmix on iTunes and I've bought 2009-10 he just gave us 2011 today on the asot show and omg was it ever amazing wish I could trade this one in for that but I cant find it in iTunes anywhere what gives iTunes first the podcast don't work now I can't buy this years yrmix! Why were is it?! Must have it. Was so great I love the format last year to how we got full continuous mixes and then separate mixes. Full tracks. I wish 2009's were that way and wish i could also buy 2008 yearmix with the 2010 format with full tracks and the one long mix. Cuz the yearmix always has 89-90something tracks and so u only hear about 30seconds per song but it's mixed so flawlessly perfect I love it can't get enuff of it. But it's no were to be found please iTunes update this were are all the best albums the yearmixes. And please let the podcast work again idk why but I always get this can't be played on this iPod no matter what device I use to try n hear it. Plus the 100tracks from avb are missing all kinds of stuff is missing that was here 6months ago. Need to fix it so I can back it up and buy this new yrmix I look forward to it all year long every year can't end a yr proper Without the yrmix from avb and I can't stand illegal bit torrent downloads. But with the podcast not working and the best of his work missing now it's really leaving ppl with no other choice :( please fix asap. Before the 1st preferably that's the mix we use to bring in the new yr parties and I want my hd quality version legit from iTunes not some bad quality torrent please fix asap ty

This is by far the best AVB compilation I have herd yet since he started the yearly compilation set. Love every song he. Chose this yearly set as it is melodic, uplifting, and progressive with awesome beachy vibes. As my favorite song is this compilation has to be Triple A since Ana vocals are simply angelic like always in a way it reminds me of Sunset Boulevard. ASOT 500 hear I come next week @ ULTRA!!! See there Armin!!!

Pedro Rivas - Missing a track
Why is the us version missing a track? It's missing the alex M.O.R.P.H remix of a take a moment. The dutch store has it, and so does the beatport version. Take a moment is a great track and I find it unfair that the people who bought this through the us store don't get it.
Trance Trance Revolution - Great, as usual
This is a great album. And I like that I don't have a single track from this album already so it's all worth it for me. As far as those mentioning the livelihood of trance... I think trance is far from dead. Let's say the trance apocalypse happens, as long as a single person (such as Armin) develops trance music, it's never dead. It's simply not as popular as dance music or what have you. Maybe us trance lovers have a special part of the brain that is only stimulated by the fantastic sounds created in trance alone. Keep in mind though, that trance is very big in Europe. It's only in the US that it has struggled to gain the popularity of its counterparts. Anyway, back to the topic at hand, this album is fantastic, as expected, and should be purchased by anyone who loves electronic music. Very fluid, dynamic, upbeat, yet peaceful at times. It's a great album to push you to the edge of the Universe. I'm sure others say this too, but I'll say it anyway. I'm your biggest fan. I've been following you since way before you were listed among the Top DJ charts and watched you grow into the great DJ you are today. Always faithful to the source. Keep it up Armin. Again, great album.

Not even remotely inspiring to listen to. It's like eating a jar of paste when you were a kid. No flavor and you wonder why you wasted your time. Same with ASOT 2010.

This is not my favorite ASOT but is very good overall. Some Noteworthy tracks would be Winter Stayed, So caught up, Skyfire, Between the Rays, Dionysia, Status excessu D, My enemy, and Talk to me. This will be one of my main summer soundtracks as have all the other ASOT's have been. Overall if you are an Armin fan or like trance music than this should be a no brainer buy.

I own all the state of trance volumes including the year mixes. One thing I've noticed is you get an amazing set every other year. 2006 is his masterpiece to me. 07 great, 08 unbelievable! 09 very good. 2010 one of his best ever. 2011, what is going on? Out of both discs there are maybe a handful of stand outs. Honestly this sounds like a ver generic trance mix. I'm predicting a house movement from him like tiesto. You want something that will blow your mind? Listen to ANY cd mixed by Andy moor. I will convert you the ones that listen right now.... Go listen!

This is everything it's supposed to be and I enjoy it immensely especially with thanks to an MP3 trimmer which allowed me to remove the incredibly annoying baby-voiced spoken word portion of "Skyfire" Why so many mixes think it's magical to inject these girly platitudes of nonsense is beyond me - they serve the same purpose as nails on a chalkboard. Or it's just me. Anyway - she's gone now and all is good. party on.

@Anthony Lemus EDM is huge right now! Have you ever seen a Trance DJ? Some of the energy their sets bring is incredible! Dubstep is to EDM like Metal is to Rock. Go see a live trance DJ set

Tranceismyshit - Not the Best, Not the Worst
Part 1 takes a long time to get started, overall I really didn't think Armin lived up to his standards with this one. In almost every other year, particularly 07 and 08, there were various parts of the mix where I was like "wow this is good." Didn't get that with years. Part 2 was much better than part 1 in my opinion but the same goes for what I said, nothing really stood out to me. Armin is still the man though!!
Elements of Sound - Take some time
This album is one that needs the proper time to sit and really take in what is going on. Certainly not the greatest State of Trance but it does have one thing in common with others of it's kind: the way you lose yourself in the beautiful music.
