Vocal Point is my all time favorite. Beautiful arrangements!
This album was much anticipated and didn't disappoint! Beautiful harmonies, fantastic excecution, awesome song selection! I won't mind listening to this one over and over. And over. I've seen them live - in concert and around BYU's campus - and I can attest to the fact that these incredibly talented performers don't use ANY instruments. It's all in their vocal cords, and is amazing. Just... amazing. Five stars all the way!
I've been a Vocal Point fan for over 10 years and they just keep getting better & better. I am loving these arrangements, the music videos, and the vlogs. With the title of "Spectrum" you would expect VP to cover a wide array of music and they do that extremely well. It's not often you buy an album that has a "Newsies Medley" with "Beat it" and my favorite (and wicked awesome arrangement) hymn, "I Stand All Amazed" I am in awe at these talented guys, their support systems, their mentors, teachers, directors, and all the VP guys that provided such an amazing legacy for them to carry forth.
Okay folks, allow me to settle this. As a former member of the group (I sing the lead on track 11) I can confirm there were literally no instruments used in the production of this album. Sound production occured - as it does on any album, a cappella or no - in order to help the (vocal) bass and (vocal) drums sound heavier and crisper and whatnot, but I promise you, Barak Choy, every track is nothing but voices. I'm glad you like it :)
Over the years I have come to expect two things from Vocal Point: killer voices and stellar arrangements. This album is a prime example of those two very things. I dig the song selections. As the title suggests, it showcases perfectly the range and versatility of these guys. Though nothing beats seeing them live, being able to have these songs on repeat is a close second. "Spectrum" is fantastic. Great job guys.
Not sure if I did, but sorry if I butchered the last name. Mr. Ficcarro is my student teacher in a band class and he is a member of this group. I must say when he said he was in a vocal group I never expected it to sound like this. This is awesome and I can't believe how amazed I am. Lol. It sounds great. Keep up the great work!!!
I'm not sure if your ears were just numbed by the fantastical melodies these guys lay out, but they AREN'T using ANY instruments. I too have seen the guys live and can promise you and say for 100% FACT this is allllll their voices, no instruments are used ever. Always has been, always will be!! They're just THAT good! :) This album will be on repeat!! Vocal Point never ceases to amaze :)
I think it’s safe to say that this is their BEST album. I saw them sing these songs in concert and it is all legit. I still get goosebumps from this. ONLY VOICES!!!! Only positive and uplifting music. Perfect for singles, married couples, retired people, infants, etc. It’s just perfect for everyone.
Good catchy music. I especially like the Allegheny song. But even though everyone is saying that this is 100% vocal I’m pretty sure that there are some bass/drum/guitar tracks. I’ve been singing with choirs for a long time and would know a cappella if I heard it. Sneaky little Vocal Point.
Clean, fun music that everyone can enjoy!
This record is off the charts! LOVED the cutting edge sound. It's everything I want to hear in a studio album: killer vocals, cool takes on old classics, fun studio spice, and great variety of music. Great job, BYU Vocal Point!
These guys really know how to do A Capella!! They are able to sing a wide variety of musical styles and genre from Sara Bareilles to Frankie Valli. They definitely are covering a wide spectrum of music in 15 tracks. I would definitely recommend this album to anyone! =)
Vocal Point has done it once again! From modern songs like Good Time and Happy to classics such as the Frankie Valli Medley! Love it so much! Some songs I like more than the original. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did!! Totally worth it if you're buying the whole album( which I highly suggest )!
As a BYU alum, I always had a great time listening to Vocal Point while I was in school. This album reminded me of why I loved it so much.
What a line up! I love the original arrangements and the original songs on this album. Watch out a cappella world!
Miss u guys! You are fantastic!
Love this album. Just one question, the newsies medley is different from iTunes to YouTube with an alternate ending. How can I get that version as well somewhere?
"Set Fire to the Rain" is my favorite track on this album although the original version by Adele is horrible.
Vocal Point is Amazing! This is A Cappella music at its best! FYI to the previous comment: Vocal Point is ALL VOICES! There are no instruments so the bass/drums/guitar you hear is someones voice. I have seen them live many times so I know this for a fact. Besides they wouldn't have been on the Sing Off if they weren't an A Cappella group.

A spectrum (pl.: spectra or spectrums) is a condition that is not limited to a specific set of values but can vary, without gaps, across a continuum. The word spectrum was first used scientifically in optics to describe the rainbow of colors in visible light after passing through a prism. As scientific understanding of light advanced, it came to apply to the entire electromagnetic spectrum. It thereby became a mapping of a range of magnitudes (wavelengths) to a range of qualities, which are the perceived "colors of the rainbow" and other properties which correspond to wavelengths that lie outside of the visible light spectrum. Spectrum has since been applied by analogy to topics outside optics. Thus, one might talk about the "spectrum of political opinion", or the "spectrum of activity" of a drug, or the "autism spectrum". In these uses, values within a spectrum may not be associated with precisely quantifiable numbers or definitions. Such uses imply a broad range of conditions or behaviors grouped together and studied under a single title for ease of discussion. Nonscientific uses of the term spectrum are sometimes misleading. For instance, a single left–right spectrum of political opinion does not capture the full range of people's political beliefs. Political scientists use a variety of biaxial and multiaxial systems to more accurately characterize political opinion. In most modern usages of spectrum there is a unifying theme between the extremes at either end. This was not always true in older usage.
