Mark Ronson, producer that has been around for years, and has produced hits for many successful artists, most notably Amy Winehouse, has made a song with Bruno Mars that is a great example of funk revivalism. It combines elements of different funk and disco songs through the 70's and 80's, while its lyrics resemble rapper Trinidad James' "All Gold Everything", especially during the chorus. Not only is this song a creative reimagination of funk music, it also had the potential of a hit single - and it was one. It is now the longest-leading Billboard Hot 100 #1 of the 2010s, which leads me to the only problem of this song. This song is way too overhyped and overplayed. Everyone loves it so much. It's a good song and should be noted for its quality, but is WAY too overrated. The only problem with the actual song is towards the end it gets a bit repetitive.

Let's be honest, if Bruno wasn't the one singing it, then it wouldn't have got to 1st on the Billboard Hot 100 or even got popular period. Sure, it's a catchy funk song, but it's not a very good one- and far from great. And although I must admit that the music itself is good, the lyrics are really just mediocre. Not to mention that it's really overplayed. I'm so glad that Wiz Khalifa's "See You Again" is at #1 (on the BB Hot 100.)
