Show me literally one characteristic where this can be even remotely considered country music. That and the music is just plain awful and cheesy

This album is the perfect mix of happy, feel good music and depth. He may not be “traditional” country, but he’s paving his own path in country music which should be embraced. The negative reviews are ridiculous. Love this album and Walker Hayes!

I couldn’t believe what I was listening to with this album. This is perhaps the greatest sin against country music. And to say that this is above people like Sam Hunt and Thomas Rhett as the greatest sin against country music is unbelievable. I didn’t think you could get worse. Here come all the fake country fans defending this album... Stop. This is NOT country music. So many “country fans” today don’t actually listen to true country music. They listen to pop singers who couldn’t make it in the pop realm because they’d fail, so they flock to country where all the “country music” fans come and leave more than two stars. “But it’s still good music. So what if it’s in the country genre?” Everything. Everything is wrong with that. Do people who want to listen to rock have to listen to rap flooding the genre? Would you say the same? Genres are there for here for a VERY specific reason. Every genre is a different style of music from the other. People like genres because of the sound. I like country. I don’t want to hear rap, pop or hip hop. I want country. I hated all other genres and turned to country music because it had the sound and content that I wanted. But I’ve come to find they very genres I have tried to escape have infiltrated the genre, and people have the audacity to call it country. This is a disgusting label to be called country. Get this, and practically all “country singers/fans” out of the genre and get back to REAL country music.

I love this album! I’ve listened to it nonstop for quite awhile now. This is my first time EVER leaving a review on iTunes, I love it that much! Get over the fact that there’s a country label on it. If you let that upset you and keep you from enjoying the music, your loss. These are good, clean songs that can relate to the average person. Songs about his kids, financial struggles, reminiscing a long and happy marriage, etc etc. As a young parent with two toddlers, but still very much into pop culture, I REALLY appreciate finding an artist who I feel like I can relate to! I enjoy listening to this much more than songs about money, sex, and drugs in the club. That lifestyle has nothing to offer for me. Instead, I find myself smiling as I sing along to “Beckett,” because it reminds me of my own four year old. Even better, the lyrics are quite clever and catchy. I love the way some of the words fit into the verses, off beat or squished in or whatever. (It’s been awhile since I’ve taken a music theory class!) It’s one thing to write a good tune. It’s another to be able to do that AND write thoughtful, coherent, and creative lyrics on top of that. To all of you complainers: “you can’t crash my party!” I love this album. It’s a breath of (realistic) fresh air and creativity.

GUYS BACK ON UP OFF THE DUDE!! Don’t pull that “in the past ten years country has devolved” crap. Music has always been changing. It always will change. Look at Sam hunt! He’s got the same things going on with his talk rap going in the verses. Walkers songs may not scream country but it does have a very noticeable country twist. It really isn’t enough “pop” to call it pop. He is a country artist. You cannot keep country genre in a tiny box because then you’re gonna get the same sound over and over. Artists are adding more and very different things to their music.

I’ve said this about Florida Georgia Line and Taylor Swift, but THIS is the farthest from county music. I beg of iTunes and the country music industry to STOP calling this sing rapping country music. MAKE COUNTRY MUSIC GREAT AGAIN.

The sign of an Amazing Album is to look at the reviews, notice anything? It’s either 5 Stars or 1 Star, nothing in between. You either love it or hate it. If you’re going to give it 1 star, go to YouTube and listen to Walkers song “Your Girlfriend Does” and realize that you are not the target audience and go on with your life. If you want to listen to traditional country, go listen to traditional county. There is plenty of room in county music for the past, present and future and the best part is it never goes away, you can go buy those songs right now. I’ve listened to every song multiple times on YouTube, it’s time for me to put my money where my mouth is.

I love me some traditional old school country but I’m totally in love with this new age pop country. Just because it isn’t what someone else thinks is country doesn’t mean it isn’t country. Just do you. There are a lot of us loving the hell out of it.

Unique. Brave. Not defined by any existing genre but creating his own.. Do you know how rare that is? He combines beats he loves, truly like-able and catchy melodies with profound yet on-your-sleeve style country lyrics. Love this guy and his music!

The fact that all the haters rating “One Star” because he isn’t country is all you need to know about this record. Genres are no longer defined by instruments, lyrics or singers. It’s 2018 and Love is Love and Music is Music. Walker Hayes is an amazing artist and I’m so proud to own his album. If you’re not sure whether to buy, listen to Craig. It’s my favorite 💟💟

I hear some sqwaking on here about "doesn't belong in country" and "where has it devolved in 10 years". Let me help you out here. "They" said it didn't belong in country" 10 years ago; see where that went, huh. Country has changed in 10 years...really to country rock with infusions. This is a good infusion. Plenty of "true" country fans feel that "C" has changed and not for the best, but it is what it is. Even the great George S made the turn. Look for the best and you'll hear the rest!
