Daydream is impeccably wonderful. It contains her first two singles to be certified 2x platinum in the US: Fantasy and One Sweet Day. So, just looking at that, this album would seem to be an extreme success for Mariah. But, in total, this album has three singles; the two just mentioned plus Always Be My Baby, which was certified platinum in the US. Daydream has an overall happy element to it, with undertones of excitement, and just having a good time. The album mostly consists of ballads and mid-tempos, which was pretty routine for these first five years of her career.

I really love Mariah's voice, but I wonder...why is this album pop and her older ones are r/b soul? They sound pretty similar in style to me

I still love her .. I have ALL HER ALBUMS. She is the best singer of all time. But I gotta admit I prefer this Mariah over the modern day Mariah. Im not saying she isnt good now .. because she is. E=MC² is AMAZING. My favoirte song is Side Effects .. GET IT !!. And Emanicpation of Mimi is also very very very good. But I still wish she would make a CD like this. Mariah Carey is the SUPREME RULER of music! One of my favorite songs on Daydream is the Daydream Interlude (Fantasy Sweet Dub Mix)! It's relaxing, and I've also got the full version!

This album is one of her most successful albums (only beaten by Music Box) and for a very good reason! Every song is amazing and will leave your iPod (or whatever you're using) on repeat for a loooong time! Don't believe me? Go ahead and by this album. =)

Always Be My Baby One Sweet Day Fantasy

Amazing album. This is my personal favorite album ever. Classic in every way. Every song on this album is amazing.

Im a big fan of mariah but used to only listen to her new music.. I found daydream in my grannies house and made myself listen to it I'm so glad I did. My first favorite besides the hit "fantasy" was "Underneath The Stars" and now I'm stuck on "looking in". side note when I turn my ipod on 95% of the time I listen to Mariah. She is the greatest I hope her next album is more like her old ones or at least E=MC2. sorry to sound hateful but M.O.A.I.A only has 3 songs that I like .

I have been loving this album for so many years and just can't help pick it out from my CD collection from time to time.

This is the stuff that made Mariah Carey famous in the first place. The production is great and vocals are top notch. She wrote most of the material which is so much better than anything of late ( that is, if you prefer songs with lyrics that move you and not just about hooking up or "migrating" from the club to the car ). I highly recommend this album. You won't be disappointed. If anything, at least download Fantasy Underneath the Stars One Sweet Day Open Arms Always Be My Baby I Am Free When I Saw You

This album is classic ,smooth,lovely,soulful,sexy mariah.It is my favorite album,mostly.One sweet day is the best song,I think. If you like mariah,youll like this album.

Daydream was the first CD I ever owned. Now, almost fifteen years later I still love this album. It's one of Mariah's best. It's my second favorite album by Mariah. Daydream showed that Mariah had more to offer musically than she was able to show on her earlier albums. Popular number one songs like "Fantasy," "Always Be My Baby" and "One Sweet Day" are definitely standout tracks but some of the best songs on the album never hit number one. "Open Arms" is one of her best covers. "Long Ago" is a fantastic R&B song written by Mariah and Jermaine Dupri. "When I Saw You" is a romantic ballad that is every bit as good as any single that she has ever released. Melt Away is a dreamy song. "Daydream Interlude" is a perfect dance mix that shows off Mariah's gorgeous voice. And "Looking In" is an emotional, wistful song. "Looking In" is one of the best songs that she has ever written. Mariah has released some phenomenal albums but Daydream was something special that was hard to top.

Solid album all the way through. Classic 90's ballads

mariah made a great decision to throw in some hints of urban and hip hop with her classic pop songs!!! this is an amazing mixture of pop/adult contemporary and urban/hip hop sounds put together!!! this is her best album by far, and if her vocals are not amazing enough her songwriting skills are amazing!!!(looking in, melt away, one sweet day,) this is the one Fantasy 10/10 a great dance pop song with influences of r&b anf hip hop!!! masterpiece underneath the stars 7/10 not my favorite, but it did show us what was to come, becus it was the only straight up r&b song one sweet day 10/10 Amazing!! match made in heaven open arms 9/10 its a great cover, i dont know why it was so panned always be my baby 9/10 amazing song and mariahs vocals are flawless i am free 9/10 great gospel sound when i saw you 9/10 great ballad!! i am free 10/10 geat gospel sound!! long ago 10/10 i love it a great pop song with influences of hip hop and her vocals are flawless!!1 melt away 10/10 another favorite great emotion in her vocals forever 10/10 amazing one of mariahs best songs ever!! daydream interlude 5/10 this is the throw away song on the album looking in 10/10 what an amazing song!! amazing songwriting!!! this album should have won mariah grammys like 4 grammys she deserved them, that was dumb shutting her out like that!!

this is my favorite cd of hers and next comes butterfly....but im in love with this cd!!

I like this album, but there are too many ballads on it. The album is quite boring and doesnt do a whole lot to you. For example, if I listen to Forever (my favorite song on the album) I dont walk away from it saying, WOW! This was not Mariah's best selling album worldwide, it was her best selling album in the US. It sold 8 million copies in the US and Music Box sold 7.5 and Mariah Carey sold 9 and Butterfly sold 6...(The reason why DD and MB got certified Diamond is because they also added those BMG Music Club sales). If I were to rate my favorite albums, this is what the chart would look like. 1.Butterfly, 2.Emancipation of Mimi, 3.Rainbow, 4.E=MC2, 5.Daydream, 6.Charmbracelet, 7.Emotions, 8.Music Box, 9.Glitter, 10.Mariah Carey, 11.Merry Christmas. EVERYONE GO BUY THE BUTTERFLY ALBUM! IT IS BETTER THAN DAYDREAM AND MARIAH'S PERSONAL FAVORITE!

As the title says, this cd is literally packed with jams. Very good album. Contains her best singles in my opinion as well. The Grammy's are crazy for not letting her win anything. Incredible work.

This is the best album I ve ever heard!

This cd triggers memories from my childhood/adolescent years. As I listen to this cd now it has a whole new meaning to me, a meaning that I can appreciate more as I 'not only' listen to the words, but I live the words expressed in the lyrics. The song 'Looking In' reflects my life and inner being as if it was told by my very own heart. (very few songs can describe me in such a complex matter). After all the years that has past, this album still holds itself with respect and strength. A true classic! Overall a great album that is worth listening to over and over again. 5 stars! Daydream is a MASTERPIECE. This album has amazing tracks that go from catchy dance hits to slow, well-crafted ballads that send shivers down your spine. Daydream is one of the best albums I have EVER heard. Here are some of the best tracks: Fantasy: 9/10 - amazing One Sweet Day: 10/10 - You can't go wrong when you add Mariah and the Boyz. Beautiful ballad that might make you cry. Always Be My Baby: 20/10 - This track will blow you away. In the middle of a high and low tempo song, it will make you want to sing to it every time you put it on. One of the best songs in music HISTORY! When I Saw You: 8.5/10 - Mariah shows off her lovely voice in this lovely song. Forever: 10/10 - Another masterpiece. Whatever song you get, or if just buy the whole album like I did, trust me, you will LOVE it.

Daydream is by far Mariah's best album to date. Her greatest material spawned from the Music Box through Butterfly eras. Unfortunately, the Mariah of 2008 is nothing more than a shell of what was once an amazing artist. She is vocally and lyrically strong throughout this album. Daydream shows Mariah at her maximum potential, and what a solid album sounds like when one puts effort into their work.

Daydream is my favourite album from Mariah... Her vocals in this album were just amazing and countless chart topping hits in this album... I miss those days! Mariah is superbly talented n one true legend.

Mariah has an exquisite voice that is like no other that I have found. Because of this, I love listening to her music. She is also an amazingly talented songwrited with beautiful lyrics. Fantasy- 5/5: This is upbeat, fun, and amazing! The one on her #1 hits album is quite different as it features others and removes the chorus. This version is much better in my opinion! Underneath the Stars- 4/5: This song is a bit repetitive, but I always listen to it when it comes up on my shuffle. One Sweet Day- 5/5: This is a beautiful and touching song about death and how one day they will reuinite in heaven. Boyz II Men is the perfect choice for this collaboration. Open Arms- 4/5: As a huge fan of Journey, I did not take to this song at first because I loved it when Steve Perry sang it, but as I listen to it more, I think of it as a totally different song, yet I rarely listen to her version even though it is a well done remake. Always Be My Baby- 5/5: Everyone is likely to have heard this song on the radio. For me, it is an epitome of pop music during the 90s and will always be loved. I am Free- 4/5: I feel as if something is missing from this track, but her vocals and lyrics make it worth listening to. When I Saw You- 4.5/5: Another instance of vocal perfection from Mariah once again with beautiful lyrics. Long Ago- 3/5: My least favorite song on this album. I do not care for it at all. Melt Away- 4.5/5: Yet another ballad, but this shows off Mariah's beautiful lower register as she sings the song in both octaves except in the chorus. Forever- 5/5: I love this song! I think that it is absolutely gorgeous. Daydream Interlude- 2/5: This kind of just drones on for me. Looking In- 5/5: The perfect end to my favorite album. It is about insecurity and is easily relatable. This is one of those albums that you will continue to put on repeat! Especially if you like ballads sung with amazing vocals.

However,she wanted more hip hip music,but this album is really made up of all ballads! more pop songs and Dave Hall produced(Dreamlover,Fantasy) would have been great.

Is amazing!

"Daydream" is a classic. Every song on here is wonderful with a lot of meaning. Aside from "Music Box", "Daydream" is one of my favorite. A quick list of the songs and my personal opinion of them. (1) being the lowest and (5) being the highest. 1). Fantasy (5/5)- A super fun pop song that makes you want to dance and sing along each time you hear it. 2). Underneath the Stars (3.5/5)- My least favorite song on the album tune wise. It dosn't do anything for me. 3). One Sweet Day (5/5)- Sweet and heavenly. Enough said. 4). Open Arms (5/5)- A beautiful rendition of Journey's lovely song. It makes me shutter everytime I listen to her sing this song. 5). Always Be My Baby (4.5)- Good tune, great lyrics, awsome song. 6). I Am Free (4/5)- A nice tune. One of my least favorite. 7). When I Saw You (5/5)- Probably my favorite song on the album. It hits me hard everytime I listen to it. Great tune. 8). Long Ago (4.5/5)- Another great song. Very catchy. 9). Melt Away (4/5)- A sappy love song. Great. 10). Forever (4/5)- A classic. 11). Daydream Interlude (3/5)- My least favorite song on the album. Just plain boring. But it has its moments. 12). Looking In (5/5) My second favorite song on the album. Slow, sweet, and captivating. So assuming from my survey of each song. I would say this is a really good album. I would also recommend "Music Box".

When she made good albums. Too bad she went crazy and got fat. The music suffers bigtime.
