one and three are good. number six is great. total classic. the rest sounds too dated to listen to.

This has a few classics, but the rest of the songs are pretty weak. However, the classics are strong enough to carry the album.

Awww, the first album (actually tape) I ever bought! Such great songs! They were great then and they are still great today.

I wish Madonna would sing as good as she used to, now shes only a 3 1/2 stars. I still listen to her new songs if they're good but after 1998 or so shes changed a LOT! Oh well shes not bad today.Anyways I think this is her best album because she had better songs and a voice.

I'll admit that I'm not a huge Madonna fan. But that's not to say I don't think she was an excellent artist. Like a Virgin and Material Girl are classic songs that I think everyone can appreciate.

Oh....Like A Virgin! 1984 was a mega era for 80's music and established the musical sound of the decade. But the stand out star of the decade was Madonne with Like A virgin. After two decades, we have heard these songs a hundred times. But this is one of the best selling albums of all time and truly launched the Madonna juggernaut. Until this album, she was an underground star with Madonna. But Like A Virgin exploded in 1984 and never let go of her hold on pop culture. Girls empowered by her first album became absolutely crazy with independence after this album hit the charts and good for Madonna. I think this album started an anti-estiblishment, anti-Reagan movement not seen before. We all gyrated to Like A Virgin and relished Material Girl ironically as a screw you to our government. The only way you did not have this album in 1984 was if you were dead. This monster masterpiece of coy innocence and overt sexuality sparked a revolution that carried through to the 90's. What many do not realize is that the freedom that women artists had in the 90's and this decade is due to the work of Blondie, Donna Summer, Stevie Nicks, and most importantly, Madonna. I have worn this album out and after two decades I still enjoy the vibrancy and sheer unabashed innocence she delivers these tunes. However, over two decades, my favorite from this album is Angel. It was not a big hit back in the 80's, but I think it really shows what she achieved in later albums. It is dark, funky, and still seems fresh all these years.

Bernard and Tony's rhythm section contribution puts this so far ahead of most dance music. Listen to Tony slam the snare on the title track. Its the antithesis of the drum machine.

This album was the album that shot Madonna up to superstardum. her first album was amazing as well, but it just introduced her as a pop star. her like a virgin album made her a superstar all around the world. Like a Virgin is one of the most famouse songs ever made. Madonna's legendary performance at the 1984 vmas that truly shown that Madonna is going to be around for a long time. This album is truly one of Madonna's best.
