Madonna - Holiday

Holiday by Madonna Song Info

"Holiday" is a call to take a break from life's troubles and stresses and celebrate the world, together. It encourages people to set aside one day dedicated to celebrating the joys of life and to look for the positive in life instead of dwelling on negative experiences. In essence, it is a song about embracing the good times, dancing, and having a good time with one another.

- Physical Attraction

Bought this album today and I love it! Better than alot of music I hear today lol. Im 19 so though this was WAY Before my time. Im actually appreciating this. I am so excited to see her on tour this year!

- Still a great one after all these years!

I'm a little confused by iTunes. The album art pictures is not the album being sold. The one picture is the one I bought on CD 15yrs ago. It was the original 1983 album. Some of the songs iTunes is selling under this album are actually newer versions, such as Holiday. At any rate, these are all great, classic songs I will never get tired of listening too. Everyone knows these songs and sings along in the car. You know who you are out there, admit it!

- Wrong version of Holiday

Anyone else notice that they put the 1990 remix of "Holiday" on here instead of the original version version? Oops. (Oh yeah, this album is excellent, by the way.)

- A Classic

Classic 80's dance tunes.

- What a Debut

I'd say she got better with time, but this was still a great debut album for who is now an undisputed goddess of pop. Lucky Star 5/5 Borderline 5/5 Burning Up 5/5 I Know It 5/5 Holiday 5/5 Think of Me 5/5 Physical Attraction 4.5/5 Everybody 3.5/5 (A little too long)

- BEWARE!!!

The iTunes version has wrong version of Holiday, go buy cd at store! This contains a newer short mix of the song, not as good as original. You would be better off going to store and buy cd

- Vintage Madonna

The singles from her self-titled debut album are classics! Who can resist the upbeat "Holiday" and "Lucky Star"? Madonna came onto the music scene in 1982 (my birth year) with a pop sound that was distintive to Madonna. Every song is worth listening and you'll see why this is a classic after your first listen! I highly reccomend this!

- I Still Say Why

Why this woman continunes to sell albums, is unfathomable. She has a terrible screeching voice. However, all she has to do is put some hot beats down and say a couple words, while looking pretty and taking off her clothes. What a role model!

- nice

ok

- The Greatest Female Pop Artist

I Love This Whole Album From Madonna After Janet Jackson Phenominal Pop Madonna's the next Best and It does'nt get any better.

- I LOVE HER

SHE IS SUCH A CUTE PUNK...

- 1.29

Why is every song 1.29? iTunes needs is over charging us. They are saving money by not using plastic and delivery, yet, the songs are more expensive. No thanks!!!

- :)

so 80s! good!

- A Girl Power Revolution

Dirty, gritty, and sexuaally charged, nothing since Michael Jackson's Billie Jean had parents scandalized more than Madonna's premier album. This is a masterpiece in music history, not so much for what the album is, but what it unleashed on the American children of the 80's. From her dirty hair, crucifix worn around her neck, the laced glove (an ode to Michael Jackson) and her exposed belly button, kids raced home after school to watch MTV's Top Ten Video Countdown every day to watch this video and hoping their parents did not come home early from work. What most people born after 1980 do not realize is that this album was an underground album. In 1983, no one had ever heard of this spicy girl from New York. In fact the album was released a long time before people started to notice her. Only the coolest of the cool knew about Madonna in the midwest. She brought this New York sensibility to middle America that had not been experienced since the age of Disco in the 70's. The most revolutionary significance of this album is how it made girls feel. With this album, girls rebelled like nothing before. They found their power and sexuality and were not ashamed to express it, much to the chagrin of their parents. There were girls from 10 on up dressing like prositutes and spinning around to Holiday. This set off a revolution like none other. And in the repressive conservative Reagan era, Madonna was a rebellious breath of fresh air. If you were anti-establishment, you blared these sexy, poppy, stick it to the man spins. Unfortunately, two decades later, most of this album does not hold up, mainly because she had so many more artistic albums waiting. But if you want to go back in time and relive the cool of the 80's, Borderline, Lucky Star, and Holiday are the spins to have. A classic masterpiece first album from arguably the best star of the 80's decade.

- Forget Nostalgia!

This is a fantastic, energetic and stylish dance album, not just for the 80's, but for any decade. A lot of 80's music is hopelessly dated and just becomes an exercise in nostalgia or irony, but "Lucky Star", "Borderline", "Holiday", and "Burning Up" are all dance floor classics, made timeless by fantastic production and Madonna's fierce, sexy, joyous vocals. Her voice has technically improved over the years, and her music has become more meaningful, but I don't think she ever sounded like she was having this much fun again.

- Classic, 80's music - I'm liking it

We all know Madonna is regarded as "the Queen of Pop", but I wanted to judge myself. I think it's pretty safe to say Madonna has earned that title. This record is 80's pop music at its finest. You won't get beats like this now-a-days. I loved when pop music didn't always have to have subliminal messages or risque lyrics. The times when this genre was just about harmless fun for everyone and "Madonna" definitely does that. While this record is not Madonna's best, it sure is a highlight and staple into her career. The lack of a star has to do with the fact that every song sweeps you off of your feet. That's fine, but I'm pretty sure some nice ballads wouldn't have hurt. Although, who's complaining? Madonna made a good album that everyone can enjoy.

- Not the FULL- "REAL" album

This iTunes version is not the complete album. The runtime on Holiday is only 3:51whereas the original album version runs at 6:08. What's with that?!

- Birth Of A Legend.

Madonna is a great artist, and she is definately a legend that will stick around longer than most of today's artists ever will.

- Was a fan in the 80s . . .

And was going to download some of my favorites until I noticed that EVERY madonna song is a $1.29 what's up with that?! That makes sense for her more recent stuff, but the songs that are 20+ years old too?! Pass.

- classic

*****

- Madonna was a lucky star and still is

In my opinion, the is the best introduction album of the 80's, no, even better, the BEST album of the 80's( besides Michael Jackson's "Thriller")!!!! It had everybody dancing! A role model to girls and admired by boys, Madonna made this album work with full of dance music that almost literally made the charts explode! Keep up the good work, Madge!!

- It must be the LEGEND

Can't believe using this price to get this fantastic album($7.99). It shows the real 80's music. And also provide an environment for dance. Shake your body and enjoy the debut work by Madonna and her working group. P.S : I'm 1988 so it seems that I'm one of the 80's

- THIS ALBUM ROCKS!!!

this album ROCKS!! i just bought it like 2 days ago and i listened to it about 10 times!!! well anyway if your a madonna fan then u should definatley buy this album!!! but if u don't want to buy the whole album then buy LUCKY STAR, BURNING UP, HOLIDAY, BORDERLINE and, EVERYBODY!!!!

- Simply a Masterpiece

She is at her peak. None of her albums are better than this.

- +SIMPLY WONDERFUL!!!!! "MADONNA" ,YOU'RE THE BEST!!!!

+SIMPLY WONDERFUL!!!!! "MADONNA" ,YOU'RE THE BEST!!!!

- Amazing

Madonna keeps me going through the hard times.

- The First Pop Album ! ! !

from lucky star to everybody ! each song from the album is super pop! str8 to the dance floor of the 80's ! my fav "Burning Up!" :*)

- great cd

awesome cd.the last 2 songs shouldn't be album only though.

- Holiday (?)

This contains the wrong version of "Holiday"... the 3:51 version presented here is from the "Immaculate Collection" greatest hits compilation, and not the longer, original version from her debut.

- Madonna's First!

And last To Be Added to Itunes... This album is such the classic...1983 Madonna! I actually have this on vinyl! Lucky Star is so good, Madonna is even refreshing it; Give it 2 Me (the video). Burning Up, is my personal favorite track on here, and yes, the album only version, sorry. Holiday, so good it was remixed into The Confessions Tour. And Everybody just completes it!

- Best Album

Like title says....If you have to have 1 of hers let this be the one. Some early greats here,B-up,P-attraction,think of me,Borderline,*light, all here! She sounds good here.

- i enjoyed this

she was doing it crazy in the 80s!!!

- Madonna

Love it.

- This album still rocks :)

Madonna ur a legand <3

- This is Madonna at her best!

I loved her music then and I still love it now-- her music from the 80s is definitely her breaking and highest point though. I grew up watching all of those videos on MTV and hearing those songs on the radio. Love the other version of my favorite song-Burning Up!!!

- Nostalgia

This was the first album I every really owned that was all mine. I'm pretty sure I played "borderline" over and over about a hundred times before I listened to the rest of the tape. It's still my favorite.

- OMG! I CANT BELIEVE THAT MADONNA IS STILL ROCKING! SHE'S OVER 50

Keep up the good work for another half of a century!

- i dont know i really love this album

it might be corney but its great m usic for anyone

- this girl rox!

- Im BURNIN UP!!!!

LOVE IT!

- Great debut

This is a great debut for Madonna. All of the songs are great. She sounds so good during this time of her career. "Lucky Star" is a awesome song. "Borderline" is addictive. Anyway great album. Awesome Pop/Dance album.

- Madonna!

Good album! But $1.29 is expensive for a song! And where is The Immaculate Collection album? iTunes please put it back on!!!

- Memories!

This is classic Madonna...@Merry Edgeman: Trying to act young...child please, she was young!

- MADONNA

Amazing album, this is where it all began. The songs are amazing and all classics. If only the world new at the time what this would spawn hahah! Go madonna!

- Love the 80's

I love Madonna and how she influenced girls fashion in the 80's. I am only 16 and I love the way fashion was and the music it felt like it was more free. Anyway I give this a thumbs up and a five star.

- Only one good song

Rest are ok. Not a big fan of old music. Some are not that good. Buy some stuff.

- The Best Madonna Ever

This is the best album that Madonna (to me) has ever done. The songs and her voice reign supreme in the dance and pop genre. I still don't know what Madonna had. But her other albums seem to lack what can be found on her first album.

- "I have no shame - I'm on fire!"

Madonna's self-titled album is pretty darn good for this future Queen of Pop. This album was released in 1983 and some of the songs are a bit dated but they are extremely catchy and fun. You get the hit singles like Burning Up and Holiday and some rare gems like Think of Me and I Know It. This album isn't flawless but it's a good place to start your Madonna collection, enjoy!

- top 10

as a dj in the 80's this album was worn out more than once. Every song is awesome. I wish Madonna would do another album like this ! Top 10 all time album here!

- <3
