woodycat1 - Spielberg and John Williams = Blockbuster HitsThese two go together like two peas in a pod. Without these two and there creative minds we would not have the blockbusters that we would have today, like Jaws, Indiana Jones,Close Encounters, ET or many others that we all seen. We need to be grateful for there genius on these movies. I hope this team of the master film maker and master composer do more work together.
Amazing ME!! - Williams + Spielberg= AMAZZZING!These are all fabulous. This collaboration was definitly meant to be. Buy Adventures on Earth, it's brilliant! The last minute will give you chills through your body!
Youdon'tknow me - okThe jaws is the best
Chuckles_79 - Movie music always a treasureThis album sparked off my interest in movie music. From the raiders march to exultate justi in empire of the sun which featured the young christian bale, this compilation is truly a treasured album that will take you through a cycle of movies that have graced the big screen. Any collaboration of the latter (Spielberg & Williams) have stood the test of time.I have heard different versions of these tracks by different orchestras and I have to say (IMHO) that I rate the Boston Pops with John Williams as the best. Happy listening!
sguilfoyle - Heard it years agoI actually picked it up at a library and recorded it.
It has some notable omissions, but those movies hadn't been madewhen this came out. Schindler's List, Saving Private Ryan, Jurassic park are some of his best.
Most of the time, I'd recommend getting the actual soundtrack. But I have 1941, and I don't remember it sounding quite as cool as it did on this one.
I'm going to get that and Exsultate Justi.
Travis McClain - One Third of a Great John Williams SetIn the mid 1990s, Maestro John Williams conducted re-recordings of many of his classic film works for Sony Classical, and this was the first. These thirteen songs cover just what the title suggests: Williams's scores for the films of Steven Spielberg up to the point of this album's release. Taken as an album, and not an anthology of scores, it works surprisingly well. Perhaps this is because Williams's style has stayed fairly consistent over the years, and perhaps it's because his scores for Spielberg tend to operate in the same milieu. Be sure to check out the second volume of Spielberg re-recordings, "Williams on Williams" and "John Williams Conducts John Williams: Star Wars Trilogy," which revisits the original three films of George Lucas's space epic.
