Mia does not sing and perform with live musicians like Santigold. Sorry MIA fans, but the truth is MIA has limited talent compared to Santigolg. Santigold is versitile and creative and SO very underrated. She does not sell sex like most women in the industry (GaGa Rhianna Cyrus), therefore the mainstream does not acknowlegde her.

The whole album defines leavitation. Santi White is plugged into the next iteration of music. If you're a fan of the early album's by "Blondie"? You have gotta atleast checkout Santigold's album. It's that innovative.

I read on her myspace profile this quote: "We began trying to write pop songs to sell, which made us depressed, so we started writing songs for ourselves instead.” I really agree with that...writing pop music for someone else just to make money would make me depressed too. Its what I had always planned to do since I was a young girl. But I've come to realization that writing music that will make me happy and is unique unlike pop music, will make me happier in the long run. So, thank you Santigold for putting your creativity into your music. You mix things up with the song "L.E.S Artistes" she sings "...I can say I hope it will be worth what I give up If I could stand up mean for the things that I believe..." There's a lot of passion and depth in this chorus...basically she is stripping away what she knows and taking a chance on breaking away from her gated life where a mold is not something she plans to fit in. These are strong lyrics that you just won't hear in a standard pop song.

I am very appreciative of artist who are multitalented, not only can she sing, she can flow and her lyrics have meaning. She's not talking material she's talking life which makes her music good material. Santigold's sound is very grown up. If you're looking for an artist whose just rambling on about how much money they have and how good they are in bed, (basically talking about nothing), keep it moving, but if you are looking for someone who is taking it to the next level and speaking to the tune of "listen up, I actually have something of importance to say." Then you landed in the right spot!

L.E.S. Artistes instantly became my favorite song of the year after listening to it twice, and I realized that Shove It was a song on Fight Night Round 4 that i liked a lot. She is amazing, don't hate and try to compare her to M.I.A.

With most artist's albums, I skip a few songs before I find a song I actually like. With Santigold (formerly Santogold), the ENTIRE album is awesome!!! Highly recommended to those who love attitude!

Not really! I know everyone likes M.I.A., but Santigold has a still of her own. To compare her to M.I.A. is to compare apple to oranges. A real lover of music can clearly see that the beats and the methodic sound coming from Santigold is similar to something born of the 80's. Her style is modern and lady like. Whereas M.I.A. comes across as needy and too unorganized. Stop comparing the two, please. Santigold should be recognized for her own style, not the reggetone sounds from M.I.A.

still one of the best albums I've bought in a MINUTE. and WHY has this chick not been on Oprah yet cuz she has elevated the game??? (or did I just miss it?) yeah, she's good. yeah, she's black (and beautiful) - but she is SO much more. i say she's like Obama - fresh, unique, inspirational, edgy, hypnotic, game-changing and everybody is sampling her style and tapping into her power - CUZ IT WORKS. (TV commercials & shows, movies, other artists...everybody's riding her wave). They can sample but no one can duplicate her blend of fire. Not to waste words describing her style - let's call it a honey coated razor or a fist dipped in sugar - you're FEELIN that $#!+ and it's def-in-ite-ly leavin a mark.

Simply put, the best damn album I have ever downloaded. This chick is GOLD! She's a cross between Karen O and M.I.A.- the songs are equal parts cool, sexy, strange, beautiful, and dark. I love it.

some of these songs sound like a cover of a cover. good and catchy, but so far from being original. is this what happens when music is overproduced or is it coincidence? i'd rather listen to the yeah yeah yeahs or some of the other original artists that obviously influenced (heavily) this album. please fill me in if i am missing some connection other than imitation.

Santigold's debut album is fun, creative, and unique. I love her voice - she reminds me of Nelly Furtado. I love how catchy but well-written these pop songs are. I enjoy every track but my personal favorite is I'm A Lady. There is a little bit of everything on this cd - don't wait download this talented new artist - she rocks!

Crazy in the best possible way. So basically this review is gonna be ratings and my personal feelings, so here i go! LES Artistes(10/10) This song is pretty much Santigold in 3:24. Great lyrics, good vocals, but still unique. Great way to open. You'll Find A Way(9.3/10) I love this song to death, but sometimes I think she's screaming, so it's not perfect. Shove It(8/10) Well if I understood the words it could be a 9, but its catchy!:) Say Aha(10.1/10) Say Ahaaaa! This is my fav style out of them all from Santi. Creator(12/10) Although I love the ska style, holy snickerdoodle this is crazy good and catchy! My Superman(8/10) I hated this at first but it grows on you a lot. Lights Out(14/10) Can you get ant better vocAls from her? Good words, love the music, great backup "ahs". Wasn't this on a mayo commercial? Starstruck(7.5/10) Nothing really memorable in this song, its just okay. Unstoppable(7/10) Least fav song. Just sounds monotone to me. And repetitive. Im a Lady(8.5/10) THis is my jam!:D This is soo... lady...ish. I love it. Anne(9.1/10) My name is Anne and i have a plan! Sounds like a cross between being abducted by aliens and genius. You'll Find A Way Remix(9/10)It's creepy, but ive grown to love it after it was on the Fame cd. Well, overall its a great album. Although her singing might not be the best on all songs (i give her sing 8/10), her diversity in this album gets her the full 5 stars.

Santogold (as itunes should say) is very unique in how she mixes all types of genres of music. The best album of 2008!

I effing love this entire album and can only wish and pray that her next album is as much as a masterpiece as this one. Her sound is so different and gritty yet simutaneously poppy and downright addictive.

Ironically I learned about Santigold through Jay-Z. I am quickly venturing outside of hip-hop. Love the album! There are a few songs that I don't like but 95% of this album is great. Starstruck is the best!

this album is amazing. every song is different, interesting, and ever changing. her song creator says it all, it really is her theme song. i can't stop listening to this and every friend i play it for likes it too. i heard "unstoppable" and bought it from there, but i keep finding a new favorite that i need to play on repeat. you can tell from the samples that she's got a distinct style, but the full songs are really great- they have fun change ups, good lyrics, good vocals, and are good for dancing or just chilling. love it.

M.I.A. has got some serious talent...just can't identify with her lyrics. With Sanitgold, she talks about things I can identify with. Her beats are more polished and a more "finished" feeling than M.I.A. AMAZING Album!!!
