Thank you Hans Zimmer for making such an amazing score
Let me start off by saying that this movie is fantastic- INCEPTION is amazingly creative and puzzling in the most awesome way. I knew that the score was great from watching the movie, but when I finally decided to buy it and I listened to it on its own, it earned a whole other level of respect and awe from me. Every score is unique and wonderful; however, as many have said, Time is particularly mind blowing. It evokes thoughts and emotions that I never knew I could get from music. It is a beautiful masterpiece that I only wish I would have discovered earlier, so Hans Zimmerman, WELL DONE.
Hans can not do can score wrong he is the best
Dang, this is by far my favourite album and movie of all time,Hans Zimmer captured the emotions and feelings of Dicaprio perfectly with ALL the songs. PERIOD, THE END
Time starts with a slow and sincere beginning, then arises to a more uptempo violin and guitar ensemble, and then fully blasts off with a heavy violin-guitar climax that will leave you wondering who created this: Hans Zimmer or God Himself.
I can never get tired of listening to this. I agree with the other reviewer that the music is possibly on par with Beethovens work. Hans Zimmerman can never let down!
Epic Awesomeness
Sweet!
I knew when I saw the movie in the theater this score would be special. I had no idea. I Love film music, but the ones i listen to end to end repeatedly, daily, weekly, for inspiration are rare. Blade Runner, The Thin Red Line, , Batman Begins, Solaris (2005), Gattaca ,Heat and Inception. This is a masterpiece.
One of Hanz Zimmer's best works right here
There's no Inception without this Soundtrack, hand in hand, this doble masterpiece effort is in every texture of the cinematic techniques used by Nolan, hearing this you'll be noticed why the director always choose Zimmer to work with him in his mindblowing film projects, Mombasa is the Highlight of the record, if you know Mark Mancina and the score he did for Speed we are in total understanding, the main achievement of the Composer is to Amplify all the moods and feels that are reflected on the screen, Memento used an invinsible soundtrack, but this, once you see the movie you can't imagine it without the Score that Hans did..
WOW! these songs are stunning
As always Hans Zimmerman never fails to to astonish the world with his latest masterpiece. He gives the word masterpiece definition. I could listen to this album on repeat for the rest of my life. My favorite song is time and I think the it could possibly be one of the best songs ever written. I mean can't you just picture Mozart, Bach, Handel and (my second favorite composer) Debussey giving Hans a round of applause for this?:)
My favorites are Dream is Collapsing, 528491, and Time.
Time can be rewritten. This song reminds me of many different Fandoms. Sherlock, Doctor Who, Merlin, Supernatural, and all those other ones that can be sad at times. But the characters will rise up and defeat those emotions. That what this song reminds me of.
Hans Zimmer's greatest yet, probably even the greatest movie soundtrack I've ever heard! So emotional and over powering. The movie is also fantastic!
Next can you make a better and longer version of mind heist? Btw the song with the numbers was great!!!
This is another great soundtrack in this generation. Hans Zimmer will always be the second to John Williams while James Horner is in third. Hans Zimmer composes other soundtracks that are recommended if you like this album! Sprit, Pirates of the carribean, The Dark Knight Trilogy, and Gladiator, and many others!
I can't get enough of this score. Amazing!
This is my favorite from all of them and INCEPTION was a great movie.
When I get $10 I am getting this moving score
Like the movie, the score is emotionally AWESOME.
It's just heartbreaking and breathtaking in the same time. There are many ingenious soundtracks, many of them composed by Hans Zimmer, but this thing is invincible and unforgettable as it can be. Bravo Maestro !!!
All right I've had enough waiting. iTunes can we PLEASE HAVE THE MOVIE?? This is the US store, where Apple comes from and you don't sell epic movies such as inception? Please, Please sell Inception on the US store as it is available in the UK and Canadian ones.
I am now getting familiar with the "Zimmer Style" and so far I am highly impressed. The last song "Time", in my opinion, is a complete masterpiece. If you are a music nerd like I am, then buy this album. I highly recommend it.
It truly is godly! Notice how well the album loops. Its perfect.
This music is amazing. "Time" is a truly incredible track. Soundtrack of my life here. Zimmer amazes, yet again...
When they were waking up from their dreams, what was the music or song playing through the headphones?
This is Hans Zimmer at his best. Simply incredible. I've listened to the whole thing multiple times. Best tracks: dream is collapsing, dream within a dream, mombassa, and time.
I love dream is collapsing or one simple idea I also like arthur
Love this movie and the time song and the numbers song are in the best parts of the movie in my opinion love all the songs !
This album has seriously become the soundtrack of my life; I listen to it all the time. TOTALLY EPIC
Makes me want to jump for joy!!! I luv luv luv luv luv it!!!
Is the most powerful piece of music in human history. Its everything music can and should be.
Genius, Emotional, Terrifyingly Great, POWERFUL!, these are just a few words to describe this sound track. Outshines the Halo franchise soundtracks on every level!, forget Ludwig Beethoven, Hans Zimmer has rewritten history.
These are some of the best song I ever bought BUY BUY BUY BUY. You should also see the movie. It is awesome
Hans zimmer will never fail me. this soundtrack this just brilliant and Epic, it adds so much suspense I've fallen in love with it and the movie. A+++ This is a MUST BUY
Not only is the movie amazing, but the thought that got pu into the soundtrack is amazing. All of the songs flow into eachothe in order on the album, therefore making the soundtrack one gigantic song. The music really sets a really mysterious, exciting, adventurious, sad, mood to the movie and for just the listener. 5 stars
Wow... This soundtrack is amazing! Hans Zimmer never fails to impress me.
Inception is my favorite movie, and this is one of my favorite soundtracks, so I thought "Why don't I try meditating while listening to the soundtrack. Let me tell you, it was an awesome experience. I became more focused, and I began to actually clear my head for once while doing it! Try it...
Time reminds me of Rainbow Dash injuring a wing and never being able to fly with the wonderbolts :(
Zimmer never disappoints! I always look up to him when it comes to orchestra. I always wanted to fin the cello piece for "time" from inception.. If yu know where to find it.. Plz tell me
It's up there with Beethoven and Bach. Will be a celebrated score throughout history. Immersive and thought inducing masterpiece.
Great score
I never write reviews but the soundtrack deserves it, without a doubt! It's perfect for the complex plot of the movie and Zimmer never fails to impress, just like with the Dark Knight soundtrack. Way to go, Inception!
Im 12 and i loved the movie and my fave song from here has to be either time or a dream within a dream i also loved the character arthur
I am very pleased with this soundtrack. The music fits the mood of the plot, and it is very memorable. I was actually humming the music after the movie was over. I definately recommend this album. Way to go, Hans Zimmer!
It really is amazing that Hans Zimmer can keep creating new incredible material every single movie he composes for. This score is VERY good! The use of silence is this score is what makes it unique compared to other soundtracks. Zimmer played with echo effects in order to get the sound he wanted. Inception makes you think in general, and it's clear Zimmer wanted the viewers to think about the music through out this soundtrack. Amazing score, great sound, fits the movie, HIGHLY recommended for Zimmer fans!
The best pieces of music ever written
This is quite possibly one of the best scores I have ever heard. It complements the movie in such a way that it makes Inception better. "Time" is classic and one of the best segments I have ever heard. The way it is used in the closing sequence of the movie is magical and brings so many emotions to fruition. Furthermore, you know a score is amazing when it is chosen for sports. I still get goosebumps seeing Lochte and Phelps in the opening sequences of the 2010 World Championships with Time in the background. Kudos to you Mr. Zimmer for yet another masterpiece!

This is an excellent soundtrack but I just wanted to warn others if (like me) you were expecting to hear the music that is used in the trailers, you will be disappointed. The trailer track is actually by someone called Zach Hemsey and is entitled 'Mind Heist'.
That 30 seconds preview of dream is collapsing reminds me of spiderman 3 o_O still AWESOME MOVIE INCEPTION FTW
As soon as I got home from watching Inception I turned on my laptop to download the score. Aboslutely amazing film, one of the best I may have ever seen - better than Avatar even - and the music goes with the film perfectly. "If you only download one song, it would have to be..." no, don't download just one song. Download them ALL. You will NOT regret it. Each one is eerily similar, yet somehow so so different. Beautiful score that you can listen too over and over and over. May have been the best £8 I ever spent. Hans Zimmer + Chris Nolan = God.
I thought the movie was amazing. It is completely different to any other movie. There are no loop holes, Nolan worked on this for years. I think this soundtrack really does go with the whole effect of the movie. This movies goes in my top 5 for sure.
This score has everything! Subtle emotional moments through to the wonderful 'Dream is Collapsing' used on the film website. It even has samples of Edith Piaf! There are some sections of 'Old Souls' that are very, very, very similar to the music written by David Arnold for the opera scene in 'Quantum of Solace' where Bond photographs the members of Quantum. I know there are only 12 notes to play with, but it almost gets a bit too similar for comfort. This aside, Hans and his team (namely Lorne Balfe) have done an excellent job weaving this audio narrative for what looks to be the best film of the year.
I haven't bought any hans zimmer songs since I bought the Gladiator soundtrack, but by chance I had a listen to the Inception soundtrack after watching the movie and loving it. And like most Chris Nolan films, not only are they brilliant...but the music plays a big part in the atmosphere of any movie he has done. But I was blown away with this! At one point I was listening to Time and as it peaks I started feeling emotional and welling up, so by the end of the song I was trying to not look at my girlfriend so she couldn't see my crying... how pathetic!
Fantastic movie and BRILLIANT music
Good to see Zimmer back on form with this score, not that Sherlock was bad but some work recently wasn't, in my opinion, his best work. Still, this is great stuff, big rousing themes and some real creative moments almost verging on sound design, love it!
The Score in this film is epic! Good buy.
Inception is by far the best film this year so far, and such an amazing film deserves nothing less than the best soundtrack to go alongside it. Hans Zimmer does not disappoint and this has to be one of his best scores so far!
A beautiful and epic soundtrack perfect for an absolute masterpiece of a film. Easily some of Zimmer's best work. 'Dream Is Collapsing' recommended alongside the standout track, 'Time'.
Once again Zimmer has shown that he can write film music with great inginuity and originality. 12 tracks is not really enough though, compared to other OSTs on sale. Great buy though.
Another great sound track from Hans Zimmer, the movie had some very memorable music (pun intended). Again he scores an incredible movie with yet another awesome sound track. While all of the tracks are amazing Time sounds out as something very special. Very powerful and brings back images from the film itself. Dream within a dream too is one of the top tracks to listen to. But I do urge you to go for the whole album, it is well worth buying.
Huge anticipation with both this film and the soundtrack and Im pleased the latter was available before the general film release. Im always wary of reviewing soundtracks before watching the film as that link between a theme and a character or scene is not yet formed. However, in terms of the music, Hans Zimmer fans need not worry. This album ticks all the boxes. I did find the themes to be fairly scant and there is no romantic theme as found in some of his early works. At the end of the day though, the score must fit the film. Much of the album is atmospheric, with stong minimalist influences. The light rapid percussion rhythms that Zimmer has recently turned to so often are still evident in 'Mombassa'. Much of the album is best listened to in continuity as there is little to recognise from a theme point of view in many of the shorter tracks. However, there are three clear stand out tracks. 'Dream is Collapsing' is an epic electronic theme that will clearly be the major theme throughout the film. '528491' with an ascending climactic string melody raises tension throughout the track until its triumphant 'vuvuzela-esque' finish. Finally, 'Time', my personal favourite, evokes memories of some of Zimmer's classics (Crimson Tide/The Rock) with a more harmonious theme, yet maintaining the electronic sound running through the album. Overall, a good soundtrack and Im sure will fit perfectly with the year's most anticipated movie. Not Zimmer's best owing to the paucity of themes and great tracks but the ones mentioned above do lift it above the mediocre. p.s. Shame the trailer music 'Mind Heist' is not included but its a different composer so not surprising!
I bought this because I'm a fan of hanz Zimmer and I like it a lot. It's not as good a the dark knight but it's still awesome.
A brooding, intense and minimalist score from Hans Zimmer for a Christopher Nolan film. We've been here before. Then, one of the stand out tracks, "Time", has a primary motif lifted from Pearl Harbor. It's not bad by any means but Zimmer has done better. Still, a Hans Zimmer score is never less than 3 out of 5 and I'm giving this 4 for 2 reasons: first, it fits the film perfectly; and second, "Dream is Collapsing" is fantastic.
Watched this film today and was just blown away by how good it was. I knew it was going to be good by the trailer (and its track). I got home and just had to buy the album to re-live the experience!
One of the greatest soundtracks ever, simple as that. Must Buy!!!
A great soundtrack. It amazes me how Hans can match the music to the mood/emotion of the film. A real triumph :-)
First you become enwrapped in 'Dream is collapsing' then you'll discover 'Time' - never before has a composition resonated with me as this has...an album to treasure for life - pure inspiration
I'll keep this brief because I'm on a mobile device, but Zimmer's soundtrack for Inception is as I said, utterly breathtaking. The sounds are fairly reminiscent to his previous work, especially that to his MW2 soundtrack; if you put aside the fact that is a game, is a truly brilliant soundtrack.
I watched Inception and loved it. The Soundtrack made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. At the End of the Movie i knew i would buy the Soundtrack. On its own it is a fabulous listen and will inspire your imagination to run riot.
Used to great effect in the film, but it's a bit of a one trick pony. Beware catchy tunes, they soon get tired.
This score has the deepness of the thin red line, one of my favourite Zimmer scores but still has the harsh flow of the Dark Knight, a superb film score, that takes you to places new and old....
Seriously, does this guy ever stop working?.. He's a sensational composer, easily adapting to the projects needs every single time without fail. Even his videogame debut for Modern Warfare 2 was excellent. Can't wait to hear if he scores the next Batman film, hopefully he should do, wouldn't be the same without him.
Brilliant stuff. But has anyone else noticed how much some of it sounds like the score from Quantum of Solace?
The best film of 2010 by miles, great acting & very thought provoking...it also has a superb soundtrack & I can not recommend this album enough! Buy today you won't be disappointed...
There's one thing you should know about me. I specialize in a very specific type of security, subconscious security. - Cobb, Inception (2010)
Each time Hans Zimmer brings out a new score, he adapts his own style and merges it with the atmosphere of the piece. With Inception, he manipulates the emotions of action, violence and heroism through the various uses of instruments and ornamentation. Magnificent!!
This album is simply amazing, hair-raising, epic and beautiful.
This movie is stunning it blew me away! The music also adds to the film as always with a composer like Hanz Zimmer, true brilliance I would recommend you go and see this movie and listen to the music However if you were to download one song off this soundtrack it would have to be "Time" - That peice of music was played at the end and totally added to the brilliance, that particular track is incredibly powerful, spine tingling and amazing 10/10 Movie 10/10 Music
One word fits this movie and soundtrack. Epic!!!!!!!!!!
The movie is excellent it go's with the music i love it
Seen the film 4 times already and will be going again, Hans Zimmers score for Inception is superb, never has the music for a film fit the images on screen as good as this. There are so many stand out cues on this album i can't stop playing it. My personal favourites are Dream Is Collapsing, Radical Notion, Mombassa and Time. Hope this review was helpful, must go i'm off to the pictures...
I saw the film and I just had to get the soundtrack. The hairs on the back of my neck literally stand up!! The music is soothing yet compelling!! What a genius!!
what suprises me is that paradox is not a very 'popular' track according to itunes, its amazing! best song on the soundtrack
This soundtrack stands well on Its own but when I saw the movie it just gave the scenes so much power, very moving and the first soundtrack I have bought in 12 years!
I'm guessing the people reading this are also huge chris nolan fans: in the trailer, the little spinner that cobb spins, the track names on this album seem to create that same shape... coincidence? with chris nolan, I think not...
This soundtrack strikes the balance between the very minimalistic soundtrack of Frost/Nixon with the action themes of The Dark Knight excellently. What is also excellent is that the album blends into one 49 minute track, while also being able to be to listen to each track individually. Mombasa and Time are highlights on the album.
Superb music which fits so well with the film. The best film of the year and the best music by a long way. Best Original Screenplay should be awarded to Christopher Nolan who has produced a film which is intellectually challenging and thoroughly gripping. Oscar also for Hans, who has produced another sensational score.
That's all that can be said about this film and its soundtrack. I recommend 'Time' and 'Mombassa'. PS I was amused to see in rrruth's review she talks of a 'spinner that Cobb spins'. My mum reminded me that Cobb is another word for 'spider'. (see tolkein) Co-incidence? NEVER.
