Every time I hear or see something new it seems to be just alittle better than it's predecessor. The only thing that worries me is that he's still so young that with the amount of output he has that he'll burn out. God I hope not... long live Joe!!!!
I could listen for hours
From the PBS special to the CD/Blu-ray in your own system, this is a superb musical collection. Bonamassa is undoubtedly a master guitarist, but I have found I easily prefer this to his electric performances/recordings. It is not that the other are less than excellent themselves, but this fully acoustic performance is both impressive for the rich simplicity of the arrangements and the clarity of playing and singing by Joe and all the performers. Clean, pleasing sound for both instruments and vocals. A top-notch performance unencumbered by the sometimes oversized electric solos, etc., yet one is still impressed by the musical skills on fully display here.
Very awesome album. If you enjoy listening to the truely talented guitarist, then this is a must have for your collection.
Also watched this on PBS last nite. I am so captivated by this guy my husband is getting a little worried....oh to just be able to sit down and talk to this man, have him throw a few tunes your way...............I'd be in heaven. What a gift!
Discovered this remarkable musician on PBS and had the chance to see him perform live in Albany. He justs gets better and better, and with this performance I am truly blown away.
Fantastic singing and instrumentals! Loved this album .
One star ? What is it you don't like guitars,or are you hard of hearing ? This is some of the best guitar licks I have heard in quite some time. This is as good as some of Clapton's music.
I watched this on PBS last night - how in the world did those people in the audience keep themselves in their seats? I was rockin' all over the kitchen!! For me his music just gets magically deeper and more golden with every new concert or cd I hear. This ol' lady thinks he's the best thing since the Beatles :) '
Great sound
I am only 5 songs into this double CD as I write this and it is AMAZING! The version of Dust Bowl is really incredible. I never heard the song Around the Bend until this version. It may be my new favorite song. I can see this becoming one of those classic CD's that NEVER gets old. Like Alice in Chains, Jar of Flies or Iron Maiden, Number of the Beast, etc...
I saw this on Palladia and it is one of the greatest concerts I have ever seen on television. Joe definitely knows his way around a guitar and the band also very impressive. This is definitely a must buy for anyone.
With only three days to arrange and practice this concert, Joe Bonamassa surpassed everyone's expectations and blew them out of the water. His creativity and genius brings tears to my eyes
This is such a great album!!! I'm sitting here listening to Sloe Gin and it is absolutely beautiful!!! Joe is so talented. I just can't believe some people have never heard of him. i've been to two of his concerts and just don't get tired of him. This acoustic album is just a breath of fresh air.
Not gonna be able to make the upcoming show here in Phoenix next month due to Knee replacement that week-With this loaded on my iPod-The blues gonna heal me quick!!!!!
I am starting to think that Joe has a twin brother named Joe. This guy puts out records every other day and they are ALL amazing, but different from each other. I play blues guitar and totally respect the whole package. Vocals GREAT, Guitar Great, Song writing Great! Amazing and perhaps one of the best alive today.
I came across Joe Bonamassa by chance about a year ago and what a find! I've been around for a while as a boomer and grew up with Clapton. JB is this generation's blues guitarist and as versatile an artist as some of the best. This effort is proof of that.
i agree with neonija, more bad vocals, bad blues
Iāve recently found out about Joe. Love his music, and this acoustic album is soooo very good! I canāt listen at work because I wind up closing my eyes and listening instead of working!
This is the best album I've heard in forever!!! You are a treasure. Love you Joe!
I just saw the performance of music in vienna and looked up who this man is the talent and music are moving beyond any words I could say ! God bless you Joe
The album is fantastic, I pre-ordered the compilation and it was there on March 28th as promised---minus the Digital Booklet listed (Album Only).
Been a big fan of Joe since early 2011, and he's been my go to iPod choice since. Can't get enough of him. When I saw this come out, it was an instant purchase. Really hard to sound unbiased, but I'll do my best. This album is perfect, but in a different way. Instead of being blown away by awesome solos and electric guitar work, you get a completely different genre and style. The acoustic blues are not foreign to Joe (i.e., Woke Up Dreaming???), so it was not completely out of his territory, but still enough to make any fan wary. Fret not! This is a great album. Joe skillfully transfers most of his electric blues-rock songs to acoustic versions, and does this with no problem. Everything sounds amazing. My personal favorite is Mountain Time, since its going back to his roots where he first wrote the song. Amazing track. Long story made even longer, BUY THIS. NO REGRETS.
As we were cleaning out my dad's stuff after he passed away a couple of days ago, his fiancƩ handed me this album. She bought it for him for Father's Day and wanted me to have it. Having heard a number of his albums and seen him live, I generally like him, but I'm not a fanatic by any means. This album, however, is fantastic. It highlights several areas in which he excels: live performance, proficiency, and crossing musical sound barriers. Easy recommendation.
Once again a truly amazing experience. We as fans are witnessing the greatest artist of our generation. Thank you Joe!
joe bonamassa rules !!!!!
Some of the best music that I have ever heard! Song after song is just one display after another of these musicians great talent. THIS is music people. This is talent. Probably the best album I will ever buy
Watching the show as I type. OMG FANFREAKINGTASTIC!!!!!! Can't to add it to my collection!!!!!!!!
Quite possibly the best guitar player I have ever had the pleasure of listening too! I never get tired of hearing Joe smash the competition!
Quite obvious how intimidating it can be for your colleagues to play along with you: mere admiration and respect. Joe, keep "learning from your abilities". You're home; this is your destiny.
Caught the last half of his PBS show last night and now I'm getting inline to get this album. GREAT MUSIC!!! Hopefully Me and the Misses will be able to score some tickets when he is at the Fox in Atlanta.
Joe Bonamssa smooth like slik
Best Aristist in the world
An extraordinary talent with great energy! Watching this guy will give your leg and foot quite the workout. Way to go Joe, knocked it out of the park.
The depth of the arrangements, crazy good guitar. Slow train and Dust bowl alone are worth the price of the album. Normally I think of the blues as beer drinking music but this one you'll want to open up the good bourbon and savior them together.
Such soul, power of the instrument - enjoyable piece of music.
Very similar to Page-Plant Unledded Album. This could be considered a pre-12 bar blues Album style, no guitar solos or not very much. If you are a Bonamassa fan you'll love the Album, if not you better become one. I think his master piece is yet to come.
I'm literally awe-struck by how beautiful this album is. It's a departure from his other albums, and includes great re-arrangements of his catalogue. A lot of the songs have a very celtic feel to them. Joe is definitely a musician's musician, but anyone can enjoy this. If you've never heard any of Joe's music., this would be an interesting place to start. Existing fans (such as myself) will absolutely love it. Buy it, and enjoy!
Joe just continues to impress me, I'm sorry if this next comment offends anybody, if you don't like or appreciate this artist you must not like music. I have to agree with a previous post we are witnessing the best artist of our generation. This album is a must have for any fan of true genuine music. There are just to many songs on this to pick a favorite but if I were, Driving towards the Daylight or Black Lung Heartache would be. Get this, you won't be disappointed !
I swear, you could give Joe nothing but a wash tub bass and a hillbilly mouth harp and he...would...MAKE MAGIC!!
This is a 1000 percent legitimate music without any editing
Honestly the best acoustic album in the word. Because it's Joe Bonamassa!!! :0
This album is my first introduction to Joeās extraordinary musicianship. I am duly impressed and more than that, I cannot stop listening to this album. The sound is out of this world, the songs are catchy, and the musicians are top of the line. Itās been said that they all came together only 4 days before this concert and none of them knew how doing Joeās songs acoustically would turn out. Well, if thatās the case, then this is truly the work of divine inspiration. If you purchase no other album, let this be the one. After hearing this, I no longer need to listen to anything else.
I Just finished listening to this album and it is E.P.I.C.!!!! I've listened to EVERYTHING this man has recorded and I've seen him play live but THIS is absolutely Incredible! If you don't buy this, you need to just throw all of your collection in the trash!!!!
Close your eyes, lay back, and listen. Don't let anything distract you. If you let the notes just draw you in, they'll take you to a tranquil place were nothing matters. The likes of Bonamassa only come around once in a life time, savor every moment!
Known for blistering electric blues guitar, this release puts Joe in a large Opera House with outstanding sessions musicians and lets him reach into his soulful side. If youāve never heard acoustic Joe, youāre in for a real treat.
There is simply not a single bad song on this album. Incredible!
I love Joe, and think he is one of the best guitarists of this generation. This is yet another strong release for Joe!! Get this album, you will not regret it!!
I have purchased this CD which is great but now I canāt play one of the songs. Which is of course my wifeās favorite.
nothing really new, and the orchestra, while certainly trained and competent, lacked any blues feel or swing. This is not Joe's best work at all.
