It originated as a song Buckingham wrote for his solo album ''Gift of Screws''. Buckingham wrote this song during the OJ Simpson murder trial to criticize TV news outlets such as Court TV which he described as 'stooping a new low' Lindsey said the song was written to express his belief that Edward R. Murrow, a CBS news journalist in the 1940s-60s would be disappointed by present-day media. Murrow was a great believer in honesty and integrity in delivering news to an international audience.
