I wrote a really long review before for this AWESOME album, but my session timed out so it didn't go through, so I'm just gonna shorten it up! Clarity - 10/10 Bigger Than My Body - 10/10 Something's Missing - 9.5/10 New Deep - 10/10 Come Back to Bed - 9/10 Home Life - 9/10 Split Screen Sadness - 10/10 Daughters - 10/10 Only Heart - 9.5/10 Wheel - 10/10 This is such an amazing, amazing album! I recommend this to anyone. The highlights, for me, are as follows, 'Clarity', 'Bigger Than My Body', 'New Deep', 'Split Screen Sadness', 'Daughters', and 'Wheel'! So because that's basically the whole album, how 'bout you just buy the whole thing, mind you the other songs are nowhere near being a disappointment! This CD is but one example of why John Mayer is, honestly, my favorite artist. It's people like him that make me love and respect music!

The iTunes reviewer says the album lacks anything heavy in the music or the lyrics. While this is fairly true, be careful that you don't confuse "heaviness" with "depth." This album has a lot of depth and thoughtful self-examination in it, all of it easy to listen to. My favourite tracks are "Clarity" (which features the warmest and most gently-played horn section I've ever heard), "Home Life" with its eerie-but-cool synth groove, and "Wheel," which still brings a lump to my throat nowadays (despite the fact that I've listened to the album since it first came out). This record is worth every dollar you spend buying it (unless you get it for free, in which case it's worth every dollar normal retailers charge).

John Mayer is in fact a terrific singer, but its not worth all 5 stars. Some of his most popular songs are repeatedly played. Buy: Clarity, Wheel, and BIGGER THAN MY BODY!

I really appreciate John Mayer as a songwriter. He works hard and makes a great song or 2 for each album. I get a bit lost when he tries to be a guitar god. I find his style nothing but derivative, so you're not going to get my vote there, but Daughters is a sweet tune for sure.

i think john mayer's work is just genius. everything about this album is awesome, from the cd booklet to the intricacy of the lyrics. Clarity was the sympathizing voice that helped me through the aftermath of a relationship that ended "just cuz." the 30 second samples of the songs isn't enough to get a feel for the depth of this album; it's one of those albums you have to listen to on a long drive or in the confines of a bedroom to really appreciate it. it's one of the few albums that i listen to consistently and still manage to squeeze out an immense amount of enjoyment from. for the heartbroken, listen to split screen sadness and wheel.

I am a huge fan of John Mayer and have a huge weakness for his songs. This album is great! The lyrics are deep and meaningful. If you like any of John Mayer's other CDs, then you will definately like this one too. I would say it is worth the money.

JOHN MAYER's sophomore set "HEAVIER THINGS" went on to be a huge success.... sometihing i'm not sure he saw coming..... "Bigger then My body" was huge...... then the smash "Daughters"...... certified mulitiple times platinum......and featuring some of his best work.....HEAVIER THINGS is one you don't want to miss

He is amazing! This entire album is beautiful. definately would recommend the song Split Screen Sadness the lyrics are really sweet. definately go for it. :)

As refreshing as this album is, in a world full of beat box music, I feel like something is missing. Due to John Mayer's artistic change, I think he agrees. This album has the pensive, the soulful, the sarcastic, the sentimental and the tragic. People dislike this album due to the few hits that were overplayed. Did he play to appease the demands of the public? Or did the public just realize what they've been missing? We may never know, yet we can still tap our feet to the simple music. The lyrics may not be incredibly poetic and deep, however, they convey a simple message that can be easily understood by all. Mayer speaks to a wide audience because his songs often voice what they can not. Some may cast aside the love songs and keep the songs about life and the world. Do whatever you please, for there are plenty of songs to satisfy each different taste in lyrics. The melodies are new, yet simple; some may not like the lack of complicated licks and dramatic undertones. I feel overwhelmed by the crashing of drums, the buzzing of electronic beeps and the over exaggerated screams from the angsty singers. John Mayer's refreshing album is a breath of air in the smoggy world of mainstream pop. Though I would of personally liked something that you can pump yourself up with, I do think Mayer's intention for this album was to clean and relax the soul. So sit back, pop on the headphones and drown out the world. It will be there when you get back.

honestly this is one of my favorite cds of all time because its just so real. the words filled in these songs are the most relateable that i have ever come across. worth every last penny. some noteable songs are new deep, home life and split screen sadness.

While I share the thoughts of most reviewers on here and love all of John Mayer's albums, I have to say that I think he has some of his best on this album. Everyone knows the radio hits that are great like Clarity, Bigger Than My Body, and Daughters; but I think its the under the radar songs that are John at his finest. Even though they are both sad songs, Split Screen Sadness & Wheel are probably two of my favorite Mayer songs. Definitely pick this album if you're new to John's music.

John Mayer is the most amazing artist ever, this album is my favorite of his. Its more acoustic sounding than Continuum, which is more blues. But its still a mix of the two blues and acoustic sounds. This is true music!!!!!

jack johnson cannot compare to John Mayer. His songs are soulful, calm, and inspiring. Jack Johnson can learn a lot from this man. Extravagant.

John Mayer keeps his amazing stlye alive and moving in this CD. With great music and lyrics and a great overall setting mood it creates the CD "Heavier Things" is a great part to any collection. This rock music from this amazing artist is great for anyone.

I really liked this album. Not quite up there with Continuum, but probably his 2nd best. Room for squares is a little bit too sappy for me, though still good. I'm really a fan of the JM Trio stuff, but nonetheless, Heavier things impresses me and keeps my feet tapping. As corny as that sounds.

john mayer has an amazing voice and i truly hope he dose more work in the future. his voice is so soft and mellow that its just absolutly amazing i hope to hear more songs by him, especially love songs!

I did not dislike a single song! But then again... I never disliked anything by John Mayer. The best thing about his songs are the words! Its simply brilliant. I most especially like the lyrics/message of Wheel, Split Screen Sadness, and Daughters (obviously).

The name of the album fits perfectly with its content. Instead of being the usual high-school-sweethearts songs that Mayer had gotten us used to, this is a more mature album in so many ways. Yes, his voice improved much, he seems more aware of his guitar skills but the album also shows us a sort of dark period when you've got all these questions and wanting to know what you're able to do, what you shouldn't do and what just is. Wheel is too good to be missed out on, as are Bigger Than my Body and Clarity. I love every song in this album, literally, but I think those three are the ones that live up to the album's name the most.

Very good album

I lovelovelove John Mayer x10. He is def one of my favorite singers, along with Taylor Swift. My favorite song is...actually I can't pick, it's probably a six-way tie between "Clarity," "Bigger Than My Body," "Something's Missing," "Split Screen Sadness," "Daughters," and "Wheel." :] (That's like every song on the CD, which just explains how amazing it is.) If I really had to choose, I'd probably pick "Wheel". It's a great slow song and the perfect end to the CD. It makes me want to listen to it again. But truth be told, all the songs on this CD are great. If you like "Heavier Things" then you'll love "Room For Squares," his first album. "Continuum" is also great but more blues-y; still, it's a great album. :) lovelovelove John Mayer :))))

WOW! I have loved this album ever since it first came out 5 years ago. It's one of the few types of music me and my dad both like to listen to. It's the perfect blend of classical, rock, modern and blues music. If you don't like it, there is something wrong.

Even though this album is probably my least favorite out of John's 4 albums (well, 5 if you count Inside Wants Out). This album is still incredible and you should be ashamed if you don't buy it. There isn't a bad song on here, but there are some I do like more than others. This has got some instant classics like Daughters, but a couple really underrated songs are Bigger Than My Body, and Only Heart. All these saongs are great and this is definately a must buy for anyone with ears.

Clarity is the best song by far on this album. I can't really explain it, it's a mix of jazz and other music I can't really describe... John Mayer kind of falls into his own category. Clarity sort of sounds like something they would play in like a mall, because of the jazz sound, and for some reason I like that music... But this whole album is good. Except Split Screen Sadness, I thought that song was strange. Bigger Than My Body and Wheel are two other songs I recommend.

This is a really good cd. My fav song is Bigger than my body. I can't for more cd's from John Mayer so I can add them to my collection.

this album will rock your socks off if you're actually wearing them. bigger than my body is a masterpiece. daughters will make you want to learn and sing it. come back to bed makes you want to kiss that special someone. the album is a new feel all over. if you do not buy this album you have something wrong with you
